Ffos Las Racecourse is where today's preview picks come from starting at 2:15PM

Two selection from me coming from Ffos Las this afternoon.

14.15 Ffos Las – Robert Price Builders Merchants Chase (Novices Limited Handicap)  (20.8f)

A Bold Move (127)
Old Salt (121)

Christian William’s has booked Davy Russell to get the job done here on A Bold Move. Like a few of these they are making their chase debut, but the selection showed a good level of form around the smaller obstacles which included two good runner up spots behind the likes of Jenkins and Mon Palois here at Ffos Las. He even beat the likes of Ballyoptic in his p2p days ,Ballyoptic has made a pleasing start to his chasing career when runner up to Black Corton and beating the well thought of Elegant Escape.

There will be a few dangers in the race, however the one I fear the most is Evan William’s Old Salt who does have to prove that he can stay the trip, so far he has not, Anthony Honeyball and the man in form Aidan Coleman team up with Pure Vision. He was not overly fancied to win on his chase debut, and never went a yard under David Noonan when falling a long way from home. He has to give weight all round, however he has won over further than this over hurdles and the jockey booking speaks volumes.

A BOLD MOVE : 2pt Win @ 11//4 (BOG)

14.50 Ffos Las – Tenovus Closer To Home Appeal Handicap Hurdle (21.8f)

Midnight Silver (135)
Sykes (126)
Never Equalled (122)

Jamie Snowdon’s mare Midnight Silver looks far superior now staying around the hurdle ranks, his fifth in the Listed Catesby Property Group PLC mares Handicap Hurdle back in April I thought was encouraging and disappointing, she looked to be going well under Twiston-Davies, but soon came off the bit on i think unfavourable ground.

She won around here over two miles back in February on soft ground, she has also won over just shy of three miles so the trip not an issue, however the ground is beneficial here and the fact I have her a long way ahead of her current mark of 120 she should be involved.

Sykes made a pleasing return to hurdles when a close fourth at Worcester five weeks ago, its been two years though since recording his last win which came over this trip, however his 8lb higher this time around. when he was trained by Philip Hobbs, a bold run though and looks a danger to the entire field if coming on from first start.

Brian Lllewellyn’s Never Equalled also made a pleasing return to hurdles when winning over two and a half miles here at Ffos Las on soft ground. Amateu Robert William’s lands the ride once more and his 3lb claim is valuable indeed.

MIDNIGHT SILVER : 2pt Win @ 10/3 (BOG)

Good Luck and Gamble Responsibly

Promotional Offer by BET365:

Darren's first pick of the day - River Frost ridden by Barry Geraghty (right) leads Expedite ridden by Tom Cannon in his last race.

Today’s horse racing preview comes from Market Rasen with two selections from the meeting.

13.10 Market Rasan -Premier League Betting At 188Bet Handicap Hurdle (20.5f)

River Frost (145)

Appleandpierres (133)

Oh Land Abloom (132)

Alan King’s River Frost should be a lot sharper this time around after running fifth on Seasons re-appearance at Chepstow in the Grade 3 Silver Trophy Handicap, this should be a lot easier in class with the sixth place franking the form last weekend.

Both Applesandpierres and Oh Land Abloom should be chasing him home, the former represents a trainer in form in Harry Skelton, may need the run this time around though.

RIVER FROST : 3pt Win @ 13/8 (BOG)

14.10 Market Rasen – Davis Cup Tennis At 188Bet Handicap Chase (23.5f)

Have A Go Hero (142)

Ultimatum Du Roy (119)

I am very surprised to see Dai William’s Have a go Hero the outsider here considering he has beaten the likes of Shelford back in the Spring when having the visor fitted, I think excuses could be made last time at Haydock when running over a longer trip and cheekpieces did not have the desire effect as planned, the visor returns this afternoon and back on softer ground he should be in the mix I feel under James Banks.

Ultimatum Du Roy has to give weight all round here, the nine year old had ran two solid thirds this season already over course and distance, comes here still probably a few pound in hand and will give a good account once more.

HAVE A GO HERO : 1pt each way @ 10/1

Horse Racing Preview - Catterick - 31st October 2017

Horse Racing Preview – Ascot – 4th May May 2017

Today’s horse racing preview comes from Lingfield and Towcester. What was taken out of yesterday’s meeting at Ascot, personally for me Blue Point is going to be a prolific sprinter if Godolphin keep him at the index as now has put himself straight into the Royal meeting next month with a possible crack at the Coronation Cup.

With the first classics upon us this forth coming weekend Blue Points win has complimented Churchill’s Dewhurst form nicely, and with Thunder Snow running in Kentucky also Churchill looks on paper a shoe in at present.

14.10 Lingfield – Injured Jockeys Fund Median Auction Maiden Stakes (8f)

This should be a good opportunity for Hamdoun Al Maktoums Mukalal to show his above these. The three-year-old had just the two runs as a juvenile with promise, runner up to unbeaten Middle Kingdom on debut on the all-weather at Newcastle and did not disgrace on his turf debut when fifth at Newmarket, the placed Firefright franked the form at Doncaster five days ago.

Main danger looks to come from Richard Hannon’s Pillar of Society who is 0-5 which includes a middle place finish at Newmarket in what looks like a race that will throw up winners this season. Even though by Roderic O’Connor the stiff mile here could make him very vulnerable, would prefer to see him this season over sprint trips.

Mukalal : 2pt win @ 2/1 (BOG)

15.40 Lingfield – Join Us For Ladies Day -12th May Handicap (0-75)

I ticked a horse off over the weekend in Theo’s Lolly who was declared to run, pulled on the day to take his chances here in a weaker contest. His last win came back in the summer of last season when he landed a 0-75 at Ripon.

This might be just above his ability, but if he comes to the table bringing his win at Pontefract this time last year when winning a 0-70, even his fifth at the same track on his seasons reappearance when just under twelve lengths behind Gulf of Poets.

That handicap (0-75) is starting to turn out very competitive on paper, as the winner has gone on to win again on the all-weather, the runner up has also boosted the form winning seven days ago on the turf at Beverley. The third was just beaten last week at Beverley at now rated 76, the fourth has won at Thirsk last week, the eighth won yesterday so it’s all there if the handicapper has over looked his rating of 73 is generous, should be there about.

Main danger is Bridge of Sighs who could be well treated now dropping back to 10f this afternoon with Rob Winston booked, if reproducing his Kempton second he has to be feared.

Theo’s Lolly : 1.5pt each way @ 6/1 (BOG)

14.20 Towcester – Call Star Sports On 0800 521321 Novices Hurdle

It’s one of those races that the best horse should be taking the pot here, if Martin Keighley’s entry here Somewhere To Be turns up in the form that saw him third back in January when finishing behind the likes of Louis Vac Pouch and Listen to the Man at Southwell this should be a shoe in.

Sixth to Jenkins on hurdling debut, which has produced winners such as Bags Groove, Captain Forez (runner up Grade 1 Mersey Hurdle) behind Finian’s Oscar, Pingshou (Grade 1 Top Novices Hurdle Winner).

it doesn’t always pan out that they train on, but three months off, not exposed really should take this at the expense of Nick Gifford’s Project Mars who has run well on his hurdling debut this year around the course.

Somewhere To Be : 3pt win @ 2/1 (BOG)

Horse Racing Preview - Newbury - 1st December 2017

Horse Racing Preview – Newmarket and Cheltenham- 21st April 2017

Our horse racing preview comes from Newbury and one selection from Bath. It’s been a hard few days on the Rowley with just the placed selections bringing in a loss, but for the week just turning over a small profit on the point count. There are five selections I am confident that should go well on Friday.

14.30 Newbury – Compton Beauchamp Est Ltd Silver Bar Hip (0-100)

Andrew Balding’s Swashbuckle looked in need of the run when third on re-appearance on the all-weather at Newcastle last month. With two good wins last season off 73 & 78 at Ffos Las, he has been raised another 7lb but I actually feel now they are stepping him up further and with the fact he is actually lightly raced, should go very close in this.

Alan King is double handed here with Oceane and Rainbow Dreamer. Obviously the interesting of the pair is the latter with Ryan Moore booked. Nine lengths behind Defi Du Seuil in the Triumph Hurdle trial this year and we know how that turned out with the winner going on to land the Triumph Hurdle and Grade 1 Doom Bar at Aintree.

It’s surprising with that kind of background over hurdles he has only managed just the one win on the level from eight attempts. This is a big step up though considering only competing around the 0-85 brackets, could be vulnerable and will no doubt return hurdling in the near future.

Oceane is currently second favourite, joint with the selection. Another mix bag of running in both codes, his last win on the flat came at York when landing a similar event over 16.2f, this trip for me can see him out in my opinion and has not been in the best of form on the all-weather in his return.

Swashbuckle : 1.5pt win @ 7/2 (BOG)

15.05 Newbury – Dubai Duty Free Golf World Cup EBF Stallions Conditions Stakes  (10f)

The name of the race is enough to get you out of breathe by just saying it, but regardless of that I do think John Gosdens filly can do the business on her race course debut. Shutter Speed is the well bred daughter of Dansili who just managed to hold on by a neck at Yarmouth on her debut over 8.1f. The fact she was kept until the back end of her juvenile status, I would predict that there is more to come in her transition focus.

The trainer also has Enable in the race who will be ridden by William Buick. She was very impressive when on debut on the all-weather at Newcastle at the back end of the flat season. Surprisingly though she has not been seen since November and will make her turf debut this afternoon.

Sheikh Mohammad’s 3/4 million pound purchase Dubawi Prince will represent Roger Varian’s yard. He stepped up on his first transition run to win a Doncaster maiden which for me was nothing special, probably see him in better light this season in handicap company.

Raheen House I put forward when declared to run at Doncaster on the opening day of the flat season, but he was pulled out due to the ground, a winner in a York maiden last October he was then pitched in the deep end when running fifth in the Racing Post Trophy when behind Rivet who was beaten easily yesterday in the Craven Stakes.

It’s difficult to assess the ground dependency for him, failing on good to firm and soft in his career and with the ground riding quicker than usual this time of year he looks vulnerable for me.

Shutter Speed : 3pt win @ 11/8 (BOG)

16.10 Newbury – Dubai Duty Free Full Of Surprises Handicap (0-100)

John Gosden is very well represented here with Chessman who does have a 2000gns entry in a couple of weeks. The son of Acclamation won with plenty in hand on his only juvenile start at Kempton when overcoming a very difficult draw.

That day he beat a useful type in Esprit De Corps who landed a massive gamble at Bath last week. On pedigree, the guineas distance should be more effective for him, but for now stays around 7f and should be landing this race under Dettori.

I can’t see many dangers in the race, Stoutes entry Pivoine could be the main danger, third on debut at Newmarket when behind Via Egnatia who was beaten convincingly this week at Newmarket. The runner up Never Surrender was beaten by Dubawi Prince at Doncaster early this month.

Chessman : 2pt Win @ 7/4 (BOG)

16.40 Newbury – Dubai Duty Free Handicap (0-110)

I would like to think Roger Varian’s smart sprinter Double Up can land this race. It’s been eighteen months since we saw him land a big handicap at Ascot when fending off a big field.

Since then Double Up has failed in eight starts to get his head in front, has been rising at the weights which has done him no favours, but if he brings his last season’s Portland run to the table then we could see him going close.

Michael Easterby has had a great winter with his runners on the all-weather and I do like his entry here in Bowson Fred. He looks about ready to strike after some good efforts on the all-weather this year when notably just denied by the smart sprinter Kimberella in the Betway Dash, that winner went on to win at the Champions all weather meeting.

Bowson Fred : 1.5pt each way @ 9/2 (BOG)

18.30 Bath  – Clifford Hillier Handicap (0-65)

A low graded affair which should be going to Archie Watson’s Attain. Not the greatest of races and even though he has failed to win since the turn of the year, the runs have been consistent enough to see him win here.

His form returning to turf puts him around 5lb ahead of the handicap, with a win in a 0-70 last year at Sandown he would not have to do much to land this average contest. Best of the rest comes from the Oliver Greenhall yard in Spirit of the Vale.

She has won twice this year on the all-weather at Newcastle off marks of 46 & 51, not a bad run when fifth at Redcar on season turf re-appearance, but does look exposed on turf off current mark.

Attain : 3pt win @ 7/4 (BOG)
