Bayern Munich vs Eintracht Frankfurt – Match Preview

Bayern Munich vs Eintracht Frankfurt
Saturday 23rd May 2020
Bundesliga – Allianz Arena

Live on BT Sport 1 – Kick-off: 17:30 BST

Bayern Munich return to the Allianz arena for the first time in over two months as they host Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga on Saturday afternoon.

The Bundesliga leaders made it a winning return to action last weekend with a comfortable 2-0 win over Union Berlin. Last weekends win made it eleven wins from Bayern’s last twelve as their surge for an eighth consecutive Bundesliga title continues.

Frankfurt meanwhile suffered a miserable return to Bundesliga life and were beaten 3-1 at home to Borussia Monchengladbach. Last weekends loss made it four consecutive defeats in the league. Frankfurt’s last win came back in February.

If recent form in this fixture it anything to go by then it seems Frankfurt’s wait for a Bundesliga win will go beyond this weekend. They have lost each of their last ten trips to the Allianz Arena, and to make matters worse they have the worst away record in the Bundesliga this campaign. But, there may be some hope, however little. Frankfurt were the team who ended Nico Kovac’s wretched reign in the Bayern hot-seat following a 5-1 thumping back in November.

Robert Lewandowski made it twenty-six goals this season with a first-half penalty against Union Berlin last weekend, and the Polish striker sits top of the Bundesliga goalscoring chart with a five-goal advantage over RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner. Lewandowski scored what proved to be a consolation for Bayern in the earlier meeting this season and is priced at 9/5 to score first on Saturday evening.

Stefan Ilsanker was carded in Frankfurt’s defeat to Monchengladbach last weekend, and the Austrian has been yellow carded in two of his five Bundesliga appearances this season. SkyBet are offering odds of 12/5 for Ilsanker to be carded in this one.

Bayern’s Jerome Boateng saw red after only nine minutes in the reverse fixture, and the German has been carded in five of his seventeen matches this season. Boateng to be carded in this one is priced at 12/5 on SkyBet.

FSV Mainz 05 vs RB Leipzig – Match preview

FSV Mainz 05 vs RB Leipzig
Sunday 24th May 2020
Bundesliga – Opel Arena

Live on BT Sport 1 – Kick-off: 14:30 BST

RB Leipzig return to Bundesliga action on Sunday afternoon when they travel to face Mainz.

It wasn’t the expected return for Leipzig in the Bundesliga as they were held at home to Freiburg last weekend. It could have been worse for them had Robin Koch’s late strike for Freiburg stood without the intervention of VAR.

Mainz on the other hand battled to clinch a point away to FC Koln after twice being behind; a point which could be crucial in their battle to avoid the drop this season. Achim Beierlorzer’s side find themselves 15th on 27 points, just four points above the relegation play-off position.

Timo Werner, Leipzig’s top scorer this season has failed to score in each of his last three Bundesliga appearances. The German forward does however boast a tremendous record against this weekend’s opponents, scoring six goals in his last three matches against Mainz.

Leipzig have reigned supreme in this fixture since it was first played back in 2016. They have won four of the seven meetings, including the 8-0 hammering they inflicted on Mainz in the reverse fixture earlier this season. Mainz’s only win in this fixture came back in 2018 were they were 3-0 winners.

BTTS may be a market worth exploring for this one. It has landed in two of Leipzig’s last three encounters, and in both of Mainz’s two most recent fixtures. Leipzig to win and BTTS is priced at 6/4 on SkyBet.

Danny Latza has been booked twice in his last six matches for Mainz and is priced at 12/5 on SkyBet to be carded this weekend.

Wolfsburg vs Borussia Dortmund – Match preview

Wolfsburg vs Borussia Dortmund
Saturday 23rd May 2020
Bundesliga. Volkswagen Arena

Live on BT Sport 1 – Kick-off 14:30 BST

The Bundesliga action continues this weekend and Wolfsburg host Borussia Dortmund on Saturday afternoon.

Both sides returned from the German top-flights mid-season postponement with a win each and will be hoping to continue their momentum in their latest encounter.

Wolfsburg left it late to clinch a 2-1 win against Augsburg last time round, meanwhile Dortmund picked up where they left off in the Bundesliga with a comprehensive 4-0 triumph over David Wagner’s Schalke side. Lucien Favre’s squad will be aiming to keep the pressure on league leaders Bayern Munich who sit top with a four-point advantage over Dortmund.

The trip to Wolfsburg however certainly won’t be an easy one for Dortmund as they face a side on a seven-game unbeaten run. 15 points from the Wolves last 21 on offer has got Oliver Glasner’s side targeting a return to European football next season. Wolfsburg sit 6th on 39 points.

Dortmund’s rout over Schalke was their fifth consecutive win in a row in the Bundesliga, and the four they netted took their tally in that time to twelve goals. Dortmund have conceded only once in their last five games and are priced at 9/4 to win to nil on SkyBet.

Erling Braut Haaland, as always, was on the scoresheet last weekend. His opener against Schalke was his tenth this season in only his sixth start for Dortmund. The highly rated Norwegian is priced at 14/5 on SkyBet to score first in this one.

Wolfsburg have wretched record in this fixture and have failed to win in the last five encounters against Dortmund. Even more worryingly, they’ve failed to score in all five of these matches. Dortmund have won four of the last five against Wolfsburg.

Paulo Otavio has been booked in his last two consecutive Bundesliga appearances, bringing his season his total to three yellow cards in just five matches. SkyBet are offering odds of 16/5 for Otavio to be booked in this one.

Wolfsburg vs Borussia Dortmund will be televised live on BT Sport 1 with kick-off at 14:30. Odds and markets correct as off Saturday 23rd May 00:15.
