Cardiff City vs Liverpool
Sunday 21st April
FA Premier League, Cardiff City Stadium
Sky Sports Premier League – 16:00 BST.
Cardiff vs Liverpool: Liverpool will be hoping to move back to the top of the Premier League when they travel to relegation-threatened Cardiff City on Sunday.
The Reds cruised past Porto in midweek, thumping them 4-1 to move into the semi-final of the Champions League. Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamad Salah were in sublime form as they put the Portuguese outfits to the sword. They will need to be at their best again when they take on Neil Warnock’s side, who are still fighting for their Premier League status. Manchester City’s 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur moved them back ahead of Jurgen Klopp’s side, meaning it’s still all to play for with three games remaining. The Reds know they can’t afford any slip-ups, with both teams in relentless form. City now have just the league to focus on after being knocked out of Europe by Tottenham, which could prove pivotal.
Cardiff claimed a massive 2-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion on Tuesday night. That result means the Bluebirds are just two points behind the Seagulls, with three matches to go. That win has breathed new belief into Warnock’s side, who will once again believe that they can avoid relegation back to the Championship. Nathaniel Mendez-Laing was the opening scorer at the Amex Stadium. The winger has endured a frustrating season with injuries, after impressing in their promotion campaign last season. His return to fitness and form could be vital as they look to stave off the drop.
Jonathan Moss is the referee for this fixture. The Englishman has officiated 36 top-flight matches this season. In that time, he has accumulated an average booking points total of 38.8. Therefore, I would advise a maximum of 50+ total points for this fixture.
This is a massive game at both ends of the table. A year or so ago, this would be a game Liverpool fans would dread. Now, under Klopp, they are flying and don’t make the same mistakes as previous years. With that in mind, I’ll back the Reds for three points.
Cardiff vs Liverpool will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports Main Event with kick off at 13:30 BST.

Everton vs Manchester United – Match Preview
Everton vs Manchester United
Sunday 21st April
FA Premier League, Goodison Park
Sky Sports Premier League – 13:30 BST
Everton vs Manchester United: Manchester United will turn all their attention to finishing in the top four and will look to gain a march on their rivals when they take on Everton at Goodison Park.
The Red Devils crashed out of the Champions League in midweek, losing 3-0 to Barcelona. Lionel Messi’s first-half brace took the tie away from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. David De Gea produced an unusual blunder for the Argentine’s second, something he’ll be hoping to make amends for in the closing weeks of the campaign. It’s been a tough run for the Norwegian since being appointed as the full-time manager. United have lost five of their last seven games, abruptly ending the honeymoon period.
Their dip in form has only reinforced what many knew already; the squad needs serious investment in the summer. When you compared United’s defence and midfield to Liverpool and Manchester City, minus Paul Pogba, they are seriously lacking in quality. With the Reds sixth in the table, two points behind Arsenal, three points in this game is a must. They haven’t won on the road since that famous night in Paris, at the start of March.
Everton’s decent run of form came to crashing end as they lost 2-0 at Fulham. It was a low point for Marco Silva’s side, who seemed to be finally turning a corner after three successive wins. The Toffees are ninth in the table, a point behind Leicester and Wolves, although Nuno Espirito Santo’s side hold a game in hand. Everton are unbeaten in three games at Goodison Park, a run stretching back to February. It’s been an up-and-down season for Silva’s side. The main aim in the summer will be to further bolster the squad, with a centre-forward at the top of the list. Only Wolves (42) have scored less than the Toffees in the top half of the table.
Paul Tierney is the referee for this fixture. The Englishman has officiated 44 top-flight matches this season. In that time, he has accumulated an average booking points total of 31.9. Therefore, I would advise a maximum of 50+ total points for this fixture.
This is another tricky trip for United, who have a tough run of season-defining games coming up. Predicting which version of Everton will turn up is near impossible, which makes this a tough game to call. I’m going to go with a (very) narrow away win.
Everton vs Manchester United will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports Main Event with kick off at 13:30 BST.

Newcastle vs Southampton – Match Preview
Newcastle vs Southampton
Saturday 20th April
The Premier League – St James’ Park
BT Sport 1 – 5:30pm
Newcastle vs Southampton: After vital wins last weekend, Newcastle and Southampton will be looking to secure their Premier League status as the pair go head to head at St James’ Park.
Newcastle secured an all-important three points away at Leicester City last Friday, with Ayoze Perez’s header the difference. That result has left Rafa Benitez’s side 15th in the Premier League table, seven points clear of Cardiff City, with four games to play. At home, they have won four of their last five games, which has been the catalyst for their improved form that guided them to safety. The Toon Army need just a couple more points to be certain of their safety but they look to be playing top-flight football against next season. The main question on all the supporters’ lips, is Rafa staying? The Spaniard’s contract is up at the end of the season and he is yet to sign an extension. If Newcastle want to keep their star coach, Mike Ashley will have to make some assurances over money to invest in the squad this summer.
Southampton have similarly been revitalised under Ralph Hasenhüttl. The Saints defeated Wolves last weekend 3-1, moving them further clear of danger. They find themselves one place and two points behind their weekend opponents and five clear of safety. Southampton have won four of their last six games, which is the form that has lifted them clear of the drop zone. It has been their record at St Mary’s which has been the main difference, although they have only lost two of their last seven on the road.
Anthony Taylor is the referee for this fixture. The Englishman has officiated 44 top-flight matches this season. In that time, he has accumulated an average booking points total of 31.9. Therefore, I would advise a maximum of 50+ total points for this fixture.
Both these sides are in decent form and know another win or a few draws will ensure their Premier League status. With that in mind, I think this one will end all square, which suits both teams.
Newcastle vs Southampton will be televised live in the UK on BT Sport 2 with kick off at 17:15 BST.
