England vs Czech Republic – Match Preview

England vs Czech Republic
Friday 22nd March 2019
EURO 2020 Qualification – Group A, Wembley Stadium

Live on ITV 1, Kick-Off: 19:45 GMT

England vs Czech Republic: England will be hoping to kick-off their EURO2020 qualifying campaign in style when they host the Czech Republic at Wembley on Friday night.

Gareth Southgate’s side will be hoping for the perfect start at Wembley, after their heroics at last year’s World Cup. England are without a few key names in Jordan Henderson, Jesse Lingard and John Stones. However, this may offer a good opportunity for some of the new, emerging faces to make their mark in a Three Lions shirt. Marcus Rashford missed training on Thursday, which could open the door for Jadon Sancho to make his first England start. The hot winger has been in scintillating form for Borussia Dortmund, with nine goals already this season. Similarly, Declan Rice could make his first appearance as England’s midfield sitter, or even at centre-back with Stones absent.

Raheem Sterling will be hoping to continue his fine form in a three-pronged attack. The City winger’s 21 goals have made him a key candidate for the ‘PFA player of the year’ award. He’s just behind Virgil van Dijk in the bookies’ betting odds. The last time England played at Wembley, they topped their UEFA Nations League group, battling from behind to beat Croatia. They also boasted an unbeaten qualifying round for the World Cup in Russia and will be hoping to emulate that in the EUROS.

The Czech Republic have won four of their last six games in all competitions, including a 5-1 thrashing of World Cup quarter-finalist Russia. They beat Slovakia, Poland and Ukraine, all by a 1-0 margin, in their UEFA Nations League group, which shows they are no mugs. They’re currently ranked 44th in the world after years of underachieving, but with a new wave of talent on its way through, the future looks bright. ‘Keeper Tomas Vaclik, Sevilla’s number one, will have to be on form to keep the Three Lions at bay, whilst Roma’s Patrik Schick is their dangerman up front. Burnley forward Matej Vydra could also play a part, although probably off the bench.

Artur Dias is the referee for this game. The Portuguese official has taken charge of several Champions League and Europa League games, including Real Madrid, PSG and Villarreal. In his last 82 matches, he has averaged 3.04 cards per game. Therefore, I would recommend a maximum of 50+ booking points for this game.

The Czech Republic are no slouches, but this should be a comfortable win for England, especially if they can get an early goal. The visitors don’t carry a huge goal threat, so I’m backing Southgate’s men to win to nil.

England vs Czech Republic will be televised live in the UK on ITV 1 with kick off at 19:45 GMT.

Fulham vs Liverpool – Match Preview

Fulham vs Liverpool
Sunday 17th March 2019
The Premier League, Craven Cottage

Live on Sky Sports Premier League – 14:15 GMT

Fulham vs Liverpool: Liverpool will be looking to move back to the top of the Premier League table when they travel to relegation strugglers Fulham.

The Reds capped another memorable night in midweek with a 3-1 win away at Bayern Munich. They were rewarded for that performance with a favourable draw against Porto in quarter-finals. A win in that tie would see last year’s finalists take on Juventus or Ajax for a spot in the final. Sadio Mane was the star of the show, alongside Virgil van Dijk, as the Malian international continues his hot streak of form. The winger has ten goals in his last ten matches and I definitely wouldn’t count against him adding to that against the Cottagers. Jurgen Klopp’s side have recorded five clean sheets in their last five games, in all competitions, which is an impressive record. They are, however, without a win in their last three league trips on the road – their last coming in January away at Brighton.

Fulham are looking dead and buried, with eight games to go. Scott Parker’s side are 13 points adrift of safety and already thinking about the Championship next season. They’ve lost their last six straight games, conceding 15 goals in the process. Their last win was back in January, against Brighton. With such a leaky backline, it would be a shock for them to make it out of this without adding to that poor defensive record, which is already the worst in the division.

Craig Pawson is the referee for this fixture. The Englishman has officiated 33 top-flight matches this season. In that time, he has accumulated an average booking points total of 43.5. Therefore, I would advise a maximum of 50+ total points for this fixture.

Liverpool looked back to their old selves with that win in midweek, which will have boosted their confidence. A resounding victory in West London should do the trick as well. I really can’t see anything but a confident away win, with some goals to boot.

Fulham vs Liverpool will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports Premier League with kick off at 14:15 GMT.

Wolves vs Manchester United – Match Preview

Wolves vs Manchester United
Saturday 16th March 2019
The FA Cup, Quarter-Final, Molineaux

Live on BBC One – Kick-Off: 19:55 GMT

Wolves vs Manchester United: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men will be looking to march into the last four of the FA Cup with a win over giant-killers Wolves at Molineux.

The Red Devils suffered a league defeat for the first time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last weekend as they went down 2-0 at Arsenal. David De Gea’s first-half error, punished by Granit Xhaka, and a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang penalty inflicted the damage. However, United are still enjoying their ‘honeymoon’ period under the Norwegian. A safe passage through to the last four could finally sway the owners to give Solskjaer the job on a full-time basis. There is already speculation that a deal is done and will be announced during the international break. On the field, United are very much in the ascendancy, still. A top-four finish is still on the cards, whilst the Champions League draw has pitted them against Barcelona. They’ve won nine of their ten away games under Solskjaer and they’ll fancy their chances at Molineux.

Wolves, however, will come into this match without any fear. They’ve already dumped Liverpool out of the cup, as well as taking points from Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham this season. Last time out, they were seconds away from taking all three points at Stamford Bridge, with a 92nd-minute Eden Hazard equaliser they only negative on another eye-catching display. Raul Jiminez gave Nuno Espirito Santo’s the lead in that game, his seventh goals in his last 10 matches. If they are to cause yet another upset, he will no doubt be at the centre of it.

Martin Atkinson is the referee for this fixture. The Englishman has officiated 37 top-flight matches this season. In that time, he has accumulated an average booking points total of 34.1. Therefore, I would advise a maximum of 50+ total points for this fixture.

Manchester United will be desperate to bounce back after their defeat last weekend. Wolves are a very tricky outfit, as proven by their record against the big six. However, Solskjaer’s men will be full strength and are very good on the road. Therefore, I’m backing them to sneak another win.

Wolves vs Manchester United will be televised in the UK live on BBC One with kick-off at 19:55 GMT.

Prediction: Wolves 1-2 Manchester United

  • Popular RequestABet – Rashford to score outside the area and Manchester United to score a penalty – 150/1.
  • Scorecast Boost (Double Chance) – Paul Pogba to score first and Manchester United to win 2-0 or 2-1 – 22/1
