Watford vs Manchester City – Match Preview

Watford vs Manchester City
Sunday 4th December 2018
FA Premier League, Vicarage Road

Live on BT Sport 1 – Kick-Off: 20:00 GMT

Watford vs Mancheser City: Manchester City will be hoping to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League when they visit Vicarage Road to face Watford.

The champions of England still hold a two-point lead at the top of the Premier League, after their 3-1 win over Bournemouth at the weekend. Raheem Sterling again found himself on the scoresheet with his 11th goal of the season. Since the start of last season, the Englishman has found the net 34 times for club and country. That is a marked improvement on recent years, which shows how he has progressed recently. Sterling has consistently proven he is one of the Premier League’s best players under Pep Guardiola. He is a constant in the side, the next step for him is to replicate that form for England.

If he can consistently lead his country then it would cement his spot as one of the best attackers in Europe. However, at the age of just 23, there is plenty of time for that to happen. With a tough game on the horizon against Chelsea at the weekend, City will want to turn in a good display in the capital.

Watford have been in poor form recently, after a very strong start to the campaign. The Hornets have lost three of their last four games, winning none. Looking further back, they’re on a run of just two wins in their last ten Premier League outings. Despite that run, they still sit tenth in the table, 11 points clear of danger. Javi Garcia has an abundance of talent within his squad’s ranks, particularly in central midfield. Etienne Capoue, who will miss this fixture due to suspension, and Abdoulaye Doucoure are a French midfield pair that wouldn’t look out of place in a top-six side. Their dynamism is matched by Gerard Deulofeu and Will Hughes, who provide that attacking flair to unlock defences. There is no doubt that all of the Watford side will have to be at their best to get something out of this game.

Paul Tierney is the referee for this game. The Englishman has officiated nine top-flight games this season. In that time, he has accumulated an average booking points total of 37.8. As a result, I would recommend a maximum of 50+ total points for this fixture.

Watford have a lot of talent and proved they have the potential to upset the big boys. However, City are yet to take their eye off the ball and a weekend trip to Stamford Bridge should only sharpen their focus. Therefore, I’m going to side with Guardiola’s men.

Watford vs Manchester City will be televised live in the UK on BT Sport 1 with kick-off at 20:00 GMT.

Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspur – Match Preview

Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspur
Sunday 2nd December 2018
FA Premier League, The Emirates Stadium

Live on Sky Sports Premier League HD – Kick-Off: 14:05 GMT

Arsenal vs Tottenham: Arsenal will be looking to defend their 18-match unbeaten run when they host their biggest rivals in the North London derby.

Unai Emery’s side added another two matches to their unbeaten run this week, with wins at Bournemouth and Vorskla Poltava. Their impressive 2-1 win at the Vitality Stadium lifted them to fifth in the table, three points behind their visitors. They are only one point behind Chelsea who occupy the final top-four spot. In midweek, their much-changed side came away with a comfortable 3-0 win, with a number of youngsters on display for Emery’s men. At the weekend, they will be in for a much bigger test. The last time they played one of the big six, against Liverpool, they showed grit and determination, which saw them get a point. They’ll need plenty of that on Sunday, in what is Emery’s first derby. It would be a huge boost for him if they were able to come out on top, even at this early stage of the season.

Tottenham have had a great week, with two big wins. First, they defeated Chelsea at Wembley Stadium, which lifted them above their fellow London rivals. They followed that up with a 1-0 win over Inter Milan, which has kept their faint hopes of qualifying for the Champions League knockout rounds alive. Christian Eriksen’s second-half strike means Mauricio Pochettino’s men will need to match Inter’s result on matchday six, away at Barcelona, in order to progress. In the league, they are now just three points behind Liverpool, having made their best start to the campaign since Pochettino took charge of the club.

Mike Dean is the referee for Sunday’s derby. The Englishman has officiated ten top-flight fixtures this season. In that time, he has accumulated an average booking points total of 44.5, the second-highest in the league. Therefore, I would advise a maximum of 60+ total points for this match.

Arsenal are in great form, given their unbeaten run. I also think Spurs have gone under the radar, especially in the league. Therefore, I’m going for a very tense, entertaining, draw.

Arsena vs Tottenham Hotspur will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports Premier League HD and kicks off at 14:05 GMT.

Prediction: Arsenal 2-2 Tottenham Hotspur

Suggested Tips – Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspur – (BET365):

    (Error published earlier – was 9/1 not 119/1 !).
  • Popular RequestABet – Lacazette & Alli to score, 4+ corners each team and Xhaka & Vertonghen to be carded – 100/1.
  • RequestABet Special up to 10/1 – BTTS, 4+ corners each team and 20+ booking points each team – 10/3.

Liverpool vs Everton – Match Preview

Liverpool vs Everton
Sunday 2nd December 2018
FA Premier League, Anfield

Live on Sky Sports Premier League HD – Kick-Off: 16:15 GMT

Liverpool vs Everton: Liverpool will be looking to close the gap on Manchester City when they take on Everton in the Merseyside derby.

The Reds suffered a damaging 2-1 defeat to PSG in midweek, which has left their Champions League hopes in the balance. Victory over Napoli at Anfield will see them progress, as long as it is by a two-goal margin, or the score ends 1-0. In the league, they beat Watford 3-0 last weekend, with Xherdan Shaqiri once again the star of the show. The Swiss international has been a bright spark in recent weeks, and his creativity was missed in Paris. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him restored to the XI at the weekend, as a result. In attack, the Reds will be looking to get more out of Roberto Firmino. The Brazilian has scored just twice in 16 games, which is a worrying stat. At this stage last year he had 11 goals, which is a stark difference.

Everton have lost just once in their last seven games and picked up three points against Cardiff City last weekend. Most of their good play has come through Gyfi Sigurdsson. Their Icelandic playmaker has scored six goals in his last 11 games for the Toffees. For an attacking midfielder that is some feat. Defensively, there has been a marked improvement for Marco Silva’s side. Yerry Mina and Michael Keane seem to have struck up a good partnership, which has seen them leak just three goals in their last seven matches. They will again need to be at their past if they are to keep Liverpool’s attacking force at bay on Sunday.

Chris Kavanagh is the referee for this game. The Englishman has officiated nine top-flight matches this season. In that time, they have accumulated an average booking points total of 31.7. Therefore, I would recommend a maximum of 50+ total points for this derby fixture.

Liverpool will be desperate for a response against their nearest rival. Jurgen Klopp has a good record in the Merseyside derby and he will want to extend it this weekend. As a result, I think they will edge this match, but it will be a tight affair.

Prediction: Liverpool 2-1 Everton

Suggested Tips – Liverpool vs Everton – (BET365):

  • Correct score: Liverpool win 2-1 – (link no longer available).

Suggested Tips – Liverpool vs Everton – (SKYBET):

  • Scorecast Boost – Mohammed Salah to score first & Liverpool win 2-1 – 50/1.
  • Price Boost Both Players to Score – Sadio Mane & Richarlison 11/1.
  • Correct Score Group Betting – Liverpool win 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1 13/8.
  • RequestABet Special up to 10/1 – BTTS, 4+ corners each team and 20+ booking points each team – 8/1.
  • Popular RequestABet – Salah & Sigurdsson to score from outside the area – 150/1.
