Crystal Palace vs Tottenham Hotspur – Match Preview

Crystal Palace vs Tottenham Hotspur
Saturday 10th
 November 2018
FA Premier League, Selhurst Park

Live on BT Sport 1 – Kick-Off: 17:30 GMT

Crystal Palace vs Tottenham Hotspur – the visitors will be hoping to build on their midweek with over PSV with another three points in the Premier League when they travel to Crystal Palace.

Spurs secured a vital three points in the Champions League on Tuesday night, coming from a goal behind to beat PSV 2-1. Harry Kane’s brace ensured Mauricio Pochettino’s men stayed in the competition, as anything but a win would have seen them eliminated. In the Premier League, Spurs secured a hard-fought 3-2 win against Wolves last weekend, with Eric Lamela, Lucas Moura and Kane sealing all three points. That win keeps them in fourth place, just three points behind Liverpool and Chelsea.

Tottenham face Chelsea, Inter Milan and Arsenal all in the space of a week after this match, so it’s vital they get all three points on Saturday ahead of such a tough run of games. Winning games like this are the difference between a top four side, and those challenging for the Premier League. If Tottenham want to reach that level, these are the tricky games they need to find a way to win.

Palace are without a win in six matches in all competitions. They lost 3-1 at Stamford Bridge last week, having picked up a point against Arsenal the week before. They host Tottenham on Saturday and then face Manchester United to compound a tough run of fixtures for the Eagles. Palace’s future will not be dictated in games against the big six, however. It’s games against sides in and around them which will determine whether they will be in mid-table obscurity or a genuine relegation battle. Palace’s main concern, as it has been for some time, is their lack of goals. They’ve scored just three times in their last five games; making them the league’s third-lowest scorers with eight.

Jonathan Moss is the referee for Saturday’s tea-time game. The Englishman has officiated eight top-flight games this season, accumulating an average booking points total of 40.6. As a result, I would advise a maximum of 60+ total points for this fixture.

Palace showed their grit and determination against Arsenal a fortnight ago, which Spurs will be wary of. However, both of their goals came from the penalty spot, which I think will again be their undoing. Therefore, I’m backing Tottenham to edge it.

Where to watch the game: Crystal Palace vs Tottenham Hotspur will be televised live in the UK on BT Sport 1 with kick-off at 17:30 GMT.

Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-2 Tottenham Hotspur

Cardiff City vs Brighton & Hove Albion – Match Preview

Cardiff City vs Brighton & Hove Albion
Saturday 10th
 November 2018
FA Premier League, Cardiff City Stadium

Live on Sky Sports Premier League – Kick-Off: 12:30 GMT

Cardiff vs Brighton: Cardiff City host Brighton at the Cardiff City looking to climb out the bottom three in a crucial match at the foot of the Premier League table.

The Bluebirds currently sit 19th in the table, one point off safety. With Huddersfield and Newcastle both collecting vital wins last weekend, Cardiff need to pick up their second win of the campaign. Last weekend they went down 1-0 at home to Leicester City on an emotional afternoon in the Welsh capital. Cardiff did win their previous home game, however, against fellow relegation candidates Fulham. If Cardiff are to survive at this level, they need to continue the form they showed again Fulham. Beating your nearest rivals is vital, and doing so at home is even more crucial. Neil Warnock’s side also faces Wolves and Southampton in their next two home games, which could define their campaign.

Brighton’s three-match winning run came to an end last weekend against Everton as they lost 3-1. For large portions of the game, Chris Hughton’s side matched the Toffees, they were just undone by that extra bit of quality from Richarlison. Prior to that result, the Seagulls had secured three crucial wins against sides in and around them. That will leave them hopeful of securing another win on Saturday. All of Brighton’s three wins were by a 1-0 scoreline, which shows their defensive resilience. That could turn to be a problem for Brighton, who have only scored nine goals this season, the fifth lowest in the league.

Martin Atkinson is the referee for this match. The Englishman has officiated ten top-flight matches this season, accumulating an average booking points total of 35. Therefore, I would advise a maximum of 50+ total point for this game.

This is a vital game at the bottom of the Premier League, that Cardiff dare not lose. Brighton are a strong side and resolute at the back, but I think this one will end all square.

Sheffield United vs Sheffield Wednesday – Match Preview

Sheffield United vs Sheffield Wednesday
Friday 9th
 November 2018
SkyBet Championship, Bramall Lane

Live on Sky Sports Football – Kick-Off: 19:45 GMT

United vs Wednesday: Sheffield United will be looking to go back to the top of the Championship when they take on city rivals Sheffield Wednesday in the Steel City derby at Bramall Lane.

The Blades dropped off the summit of the league following their 1-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest last weekend. That left Chris Wilder’s team third in the division, one point behind joint leaders Leeds United and Norwich City. Despite their lofty position in the table, United have won just once in their last four league outings. However, they have only lost once at home this season, which came on the opening day of the season against Swansea City. Their main threat comes in the form of Blades fan Billy Sharp. The 32-year-old already has 11 goals this season, with seven of those goals coming in his last seven games. Given their position in the league, United go into this derby as overriding favourites, just as they were when the two sides last January at Bramall Lane. That match ended 0-0, despite Wednesday being reduced to ten men, which goes to show that form means little in these types of games.

Sheffield Wednesday were in sixth before the international break, but four straight defeats has seen them plummet to 17th in the table, four points above the relegation zone. Jos Luhukay’s first game as Owls boss came in this fixture in January, and he will be hoping a positive result can ensure it won’t be his last. Wednesday are the only side in the league yet to keep a clean sheet. They have conceded ten goals in their last three matches, which is an alarming stat. Yet, the Owls were conceding a similar rate last season before this fixture and came away with a commendable draw. They’ll be hoping to welcome back Fernando Forestieri, who has missed the last four games through injury. The Italian and Marco Matias are both expected to be named on the bench which will bolster their attacking options.

Andre Madley is the referee for Friday night’s clash. The Englishman has officiated 11 matches at this level this season, accumulating an average booking points total of 29.5. As a result, I would advise a maximum of 60+ total points for this fixture (it is a derby).

The form guide tells you that this game should end as a comfortable home win. However, form goes out of the window when it comes to a derby game like this. Wednesday’s result last January in similar circumstances highlights that, whilst having Forestieri back, even from the bench, could be vital. As a result, I’m going for a draw, although United could nick it.

Sheffiled United vs Sheffield Wednesday will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports Football with kick off at 19:45 GMT.
