Aston Villa vs Sheffield United – Match Preview

Aston Villa vs Sheffield United
Friday 8th February 2019
SkyBet Championship, Villa Park

Live on Sky Sports Main Event HD – Kick-Off: 19:45 GMT

Aston Villa vs Sheffield United: The blades will be hoping to close the gap on the automatic promotion places when they travel to Villa Park on Friday night to take on Aston Villa.

The Blades moved to within three points of the top two after their 2-0 win over Bolton at the weekend. Norwich’s victory over Leeds means the Blades sit on 54 points, with the top two level on 54 points. After seemingly looking set for a play-off spot, Chris Wilder’s side have hit a strong run of form. A run of one defeat in seven – and five wins – has shot them into third. A strong January transfer window has also bolstered their squad, with Scott Hogan, Gary Madine and Kieran Dowell all joining on loan. With Billy Sharp and David McGoldrick – who grabbed both goals against the Trotters – still firing on all cylinders, there is real competition for places in the United squad. At the other end, they possess the third best defence in the league.

Aston Villa are struggling to get any sort of momentum going. Dean Smith’s men are ninth in the table, four points outside the top six. Villa’s main Achilles heel has been their defence this season, so they will be boosted by the addition of Tyrone Mings. The on-loan Bournemouth defender kept a clean sheet on his debut at Reading at the weekend but was involved in a controversially incident with Nelson Oliveria. Mings won’t receive any retrospective action, luckily for Villa. Villa have won just one of their last six games in all competitions – drawing their last three of their last four league home matches 2-2. They need to start turning these draws into wins, or they will miss out of the play-offs, which would be a major disappointment.

Tony Harrington is the referee for this fixture. The Englishman has officiated 11 second-tier matches this season. In that time, he has accumulated an average booking points total of 30. Therefore, I would advise a maximum of 50+ total points for this fixture.

Sheffield United are in good form but aren’t quite as strong on the road as they are at Bramall Lane. Contrastingly, Villa are seeking to find some form at home. As a result, I think the Blades might edge this one, but I wouldn’t be shocked to see another draw.

Aston Villa vs Sheffield United will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports Football with kick off at 19:45 GMT.

Everton vs Manchester City – Match Preview

Everton vs Manchester City
Wednesday 6th February 2019
FA Premier League, Goodison Park

Un-Televised – Kick-Off: 20:00 GMT

Everton vs Manchester City: The visitors can move top of the Premier League table with three points against Everton on Wednesday night as the race for the title hots up.

The gap between City and Liverpool is now just three points after the Reds’ 1-1 draw with West Ham last night. Pep Guardiola’s side, by contrast, blew Arsenal away on Sunday with a comprehensive 3-1 win. City looked back to their best at the weekend, with Sergio Aguero providing a timely reminder of his ever-lasting class as he netted a hat-trick. Guardiola’s unorthodox 3-4-3 system, with Fernandinho switching between defence and midfield, raised a few eyebrows but worked a treat as City dominated the midfield battle. City have shown signs of being back to their best recently, which is underlined by six clean sheets in their last seven games. Whenever City dominate, they tend to be tight at the back, which is what they did at the start of the campaign and last year. They look more settled, which can only be positive, heading into the next few decisive months.

Everton are in desperate need of a result after losing at home to Wolves on Saturday. The Toffees have won just two of their last six outings. The pressure is beginning to build on Marco Silva after they spent heavily in the summer. Everton are ninth in the table, 11 points clear of relegation but are out of the FA Cup. That embarrassing defeat at Millwall will hurt Evertonians, as their long wait for a trophy goes on. Everton’s inability to defend set pieces has been evident lately. The Toffees have conceded the most goals in the league from dead balls – a worrying statistic. They’ve only won one of their last six league games at home too, which is where the pressure is growing from.

Craig Pawson is the referee for this fixture. The Englishman has officiated 12 top-flight matches this season. In that time, he has accumulated an average booking points total of 48.8. Therefore, I would advise a maximum of 60+ total points for this fixture.

City will be smelling blood, knowing they can move top with a win. Irrespective of Everton’s bad form, that makes them huge favourites for this game, in my book. When you consider the Toffees form, there’s only one winner, for me.

Prediction: Everton 0-3 Manchester City

Suggested Tips – Everton vs Manchester City – (BET365):

  • Correct score: Manchester City to win 3-0 – (link no longer available).

Suggested Tips – Everton vs Manchester City – (SKYBET):

  • Price Boost – Sergio Aguero to score a brace – 7/2.
  • Scorecast Boost (Double Chance) – Leroy Sane to Score First and Manchester City to win 2-0 or 3-0 – 14/1.
  • Both Players To Score – Raheem Sterling & David Silva – 15/2.
  • Previous RequestABet Winners – Over 1.5 goals, 3+ Everton corners, 5+ Manchester City corners and 10+ match booking pts each tam – 2/1. (NAP).
  • 17/18 RequestABet Winners – Sane to score first and no booking points – 100/1.
  • RequestABet Specials 80/1 and above – Bernard, Sterling & Richarlison 2+ shots on target each and Aguero 1+ shot on Target – 800/1. (Highly unlikely to hit – but at those odds seemed very good value).

West Ham United vs Liverpool – Match Preview

West Ham United vs Liverpool
Monday 4th February 2019
FA Premier League, London Stadium

Live on Sky Sports Premier League – Kick-Off: 20:00 GMT

West Ham United vs Liverpool: Liverpool will be hoping to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table when they travel to the Olympic Stadium on Monday night to face West Ham.

Liverpool missed the opportunity to move seven points clear of Manchester City after a 1-1 draw with Leicester. Jurgen Klopp’s side weren’t quite at the races and the Foxes came away with a well-earned point. Despite dropping points, the Reds ultimately extended their margin of error over City to five points, which is still a significant gap. With the Champions League due to recommence in the next few weeks, it will be interesting to see how Klopp manages his squad in both competitions. Liverpool haven’t added to their squad in this window, having spent strongly in the summer. That shows Klopp has the belief this crop of players can carry them to domestic glory.

West Ham have had a very tough week, having lost 4-2 to Wimbledon in the FA Cup and 3-0 to Wolves in midweek. Manuel Pelligrini’s side could do with a pick-me-up and an improved performance after three straight defeats. Their last home game was a 1-0 win over Arsenal and they’ll need a similar level of performance to get a strong result in this game. The Hammers will be without Marco Arnautovic, who has signed a new deal with the club after looking set to move to China. Although he’ll miss fixture, keeping the Austrian forward is a major boost to West Ham’s hopes of a strong end to the season.

Kevin Friend is the referee for this fixture. The Englishman has officiated 12 top-flight matches this season. In that time, he has accumulated an average booking points total of 40.4. Therefore, I would advise a maximum of 60+ total points for this fixture.

West Ham will be hoping to raise their performance levels after a tough run of results. On the other hand, Liverpool will be desperate to get back to winning ways after a minor blip on Wednesday. I think the Reds will shade this one, although it won’t be straight forward.

West Ham United vs Liverpool will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports Premier League with kick off at 20:00.

  • Previous RequestABet Winners – Over 1.5 goals, 3+ West Ham corners, 5+ Liverpool corners and 30+ match booking pts – 2/1. (NAP).
  • RequestABet Specials 80/1 and above – Firmino to score, Liverpool 2-1, 3+ corners each team and Zabaleta to be carded – 66/1. (No idea why this market is in the 80/1 and above).
