World Cup Qualifier Group A, Friends Arena, Sweden 7.45pm

Sweden vs France – Match Preview – Sweden host Euro 2016 finalist’s, France, in a World Cup qualifying match this Friday. Both nations are occupying the league position’s one and two in their qualification group; France ahead of second place, Sweden, by three points. The hosts, Sweden, will be hoping for an unexpected win against a very strong French squad which will help them pull away from the other teams in the group. Can the Swede’s cause an upset?

Sweden enter the fixture in promising form. The Scandinavian outfit overcame the Euro 2016 champions, Portugal, in their last match back in March, 3-2, away from home. Two goals from Viktor Claesson helped Sweden gain level before a late own goal handed the victory to Friday’s underdogs. Claesson plays his club football for Krasnodar in the Russian Premier League and has netted three goals in 11 appearances for his nation. If Claesson is chosen, can he score another goal for his country?

Skybet Anytime Goalscorer – Viktor Claesson to score Anytime in 90 mins – 9/2

The visitors, France, travel to the match hoping to broaden the gap between themselves and the rest of the qualifying group. Whilst their players have seen wide success this season across European football, their national side still seem a little haunted by their Euro’s final nightmare.

France’s last match was a routine victory, beating Paraguay, 5-0, in a not so testing match. Qualification should come easy to the French, who will be looking to avenge their Euro’s 2016 final; losing out to Portugal in front of a home crowd. Can France continue to secure their World Cup 2018 qualification?

Today’s horse racing preview comes from one meeting, with 4 selections all coming from Carlisle.

14.10 Racing UK in HD Novices Stakes (5f)

Karl Burke’s Rockin Fella threw away his chances at Beverley when hanging in the closing stages when looking to have the race at his mercy. This son of Society Rock who is the leading sire for juveniles this season should not mind any cut in the ground.

Rockin Fella gets a good opportunity now the ground has turned soft to heavy to take full advantage of his experience.

Main dangers look to come from Move it Move it who drops back in trip after a good second on debut on the all weather at Newcastle.

Rockin Fella : 2pt win @ 11/4 (BOG)

15.10 Carlisle – Longtown Handicap (0-60) (5.8f)

An extremely weak contest in which many can be made accounted for in this. One I’m going to have a stab with is Alan Brown’s Atrafan, who has not been seen since finishing a good fourth at Newcastle back in October. Will be taking a drop in trip this afternoon and looks one of the least exposed types that will likely improve.

Both Guilding Star and My Girl Maisie have claims especially the latter who returns to the turf after two placed efforts on the all weather this year.

Atrafan : 1pt each way @ 10/1 (BOG)

16.10 Carlisle – Racing UK Day Pass Just £10 Handicap (0-85) (14f)

Now usually I would go in blind on Jedd O’Keeffe’s runners at present, but with two in the race it’s a completely different ball game. Even on jockey bookings it’s hard to fathom out which one has been showing something at home.

Graham Lee will partner Injam who got off the mark for the season at York when winning a competitive 0-90 handicap over two miles. Stablemate Silver Eclipse was a further four lengths back in fourth off level weights that day and will try and get closer with the weight advantage.

This time around he will have to concede 5lb to Silver Eclipse which on paper should not be enough to reverse the form. Realistically though the one they all have to beat is Keith Dagliesh’s Kensington Star who showed a likeable attitude when just denied at Hamilton in a 0-95 Handicap recently.

The drop in class and increase in trip looks a good combination to score under pilot Jason Hart.

Kensington Star : 4pt Win (NAP) @ 5/2 (BOG)

17.40 Carlisle – Racing UK in Glorious HD Handicap (0-60) (9f)

This is not going to take much winning this afternoon, and I would like to think Fred Watson’s Joyful Star can take full advantage of two good runs at Ayr this year to get his head in front. The seven year old won around this time last year when landing a similar event at Ayr over 7f.

His two runs last year over 8f+ came on firm ground, which is not to his liking, a bit of cut even heavy conditions is what he requires, one to beat under Paul Mulrennan this afternoon for me.

Best of the rest, you can make claims for both Colour Contrast who finished fifth on return at Ayr, but was well held by Remember Rocky on that occasion, even though 1lb better off, still looks held.

Remember Rocky has a good record around here, two time winner three seasons ago over 9f he has to be respected off the same mark of 58.

Joyful Star : 1.5pt win @ 9/2 (BOG)

I am also recommending an each way lucky 15, plus a win round robin on Rockin Fella, Kensington Star and Joyful Star, along with a 3pt each way double on Kensington Star – Joyful Star.

Good luck today, Gamble Responsibly

The horse racing preview comes from one meeting today, at Ripon. A few days off to recharge the batteries and come back fresh.

16.30 Ripon  – SIS Streaming Content Globally Maiden Stakes (8f)
Richard Fahey’s Nathaniel filly Liquid Gold I feel should be too good for today’s opposition. She bumped into a nice sort at Beverly on debut from the Roger Varian yard in Mountain Angel who has gone on to be just denied in a 0-85 handicap at Doncaster a few days ago.
She steps up to 8f this afternoon and would expect her to crack her maiden tag at the second time of asking with the form being franked by the third and fifth both winning.
Dangers if any possible Stoutes Highland Cradle, but still unproven on turf , Bob Maxwell ran well when second to David Simcocks Hugin on the all weather and can only improve, eye catching booking of Danny Tudhope.
Liquid Gold : 3pt win @ 5/2 (BOG)

Friendly, Estadio Mansiche, Peru 10pm

Peru vs Paraguay – Match Preview – Peru and Paraguay will face each other in a friendly match before their crucial World Cup qualification matches in August.

The importance of this result isn’t vital for either nation, however both will test their tactics in the hope to get a slight psychological boost and gain knowledge on certain players for August time.

Guerrero will be Peru’s main goal threat Photo Credit: larepublica.pe

The hosts, Peru, enter this friendly match in mixed form; winning two, drawing two and losing two of their last six matches. The latest result was a very impressive home win over South American giants, Uruguay. Peru came from behind with goals from Paolo Guerrero and Edison Flores to win 2-1. Can target-man, Guerrero, strike again for Peru?

Skybet Goalscorer – Paolo Guerrero to score Anytime in 90 mins – N/A (Check before kick-off)

Benitez can get into double figures with a goal against Peru Photo Credit: larepublica.pe

The visitors, Paraguay, have not been in fine form as of late. The Paraguayans lost 3-0 to Brazil back in March and more recently were embarrassed by Euro 2016 finalists, France, 5-0. Their defence has been leaking goals for fun recently; in their last six matches, Paraguay have conceded 2.33 goals. Striker, Edgar Benitez, will be Paraguay’s best hope to find a goal against Peru’s defence. The striker plays his club football for Queretaro in Liga MX, and has scored nine international goals in 46 appearances. Can the striker hit double figures for his country?

Skybet Goalscorer – Edgar Benitez to score Anytime in 90 mins – N/A (Check before kick-off)

Team News

Peru’s manager, Ricardo Gareca, has no fresh injury worries to alter his team selection.

Gareca has been a breath of fresh air in South America, having now led Peru to 15th in the FIFA World Rankings.

Their gradual climb up the rankings is being well documented by scouts across the globe, could they grab another international win to help them sustain their high ranking?

Skybet Match Result – Peru to Win – 3/4

Paraguay also have no injuries or suspensions to effect team selection for the friendly on Thursday.

Paraguay, who have struggled for goals recently are currently sitting 36th in the FIFA World Rankings; 21 positions below their South American opponents.

Paraguay will be looking to beat the odds and achieve an unexpected win against Peru, can they get an important win in their preparation for the World Cup qualifiers?

Skybet Match Result – Paraguay to Win – 18/5

Suggested Tips:

  • Skybet Correct Score Group Betting – Peru to win 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1 – 7/4
  • Skybet BTTS and Under/Over 2.5 Goals – Both Teams To Score and Over 2.5 Goals in match – 11/8
  • Skybet Draw No Bet – Paraguay – 9/4

The 2017 UK general election takes place tomorrow – Thursday 8 June –  opinion polls are currently suggesting voting could end up being quite tight after what initially was going to appear to be a routine victory for Theresa May and the Conservative party when the election was first called. We take a closer look at the run up to the election and potential victories that could be on the cards and various markets bookies are offering that could be of good value.

2017 UK General Election – Jeremy Corbyn & The Labour Party

Many felt leading up to Brexit that there was no chance of the UK leaving the EU. The same nostalgia is surrounding Jeremy Corbyn who at the start of the election campaign was being touted of having a little chance of making any impact, however, as weeks have passed his campaign has been gaining significant momentum. Most still feel that he’s unlikely to be on his way to Downing Street on Friday morning, however, the same feeling was shared around Brexit – despite the ‘leave’ campaign gathering momentum leading up to the referendum most still assumed it wasn’t going to be strong enough to see the UK leave the EU – only to awake on a Friday morning in a state of shock to find the opposite had happened.

Corbyn’s maifesto looks to be gathering momentum – on social media he’s gained huge popularity with 18-34 year olds and has gone to the extent of engaging with UK Grime Artists in propaganda videos to help get his manifesto across, he’s also managed to take advantage of Teresa May’s reluctance to appear on TV debates by putting more pressure on her with his own appearances and appears to be winning voters over with the fears of a Tory government privatising the NHS.

Jeremy Corbyn to be prime minister after next general election – 100/30 (skybet)

Labour to win most seats – 6/1 (skybet)

Labour to win more seats than Conservatives – 8/1 (skybet)

2017 UK General Election – UKIP & The Green Party

As things stand today – both UKIP and The Green Party hold 1 seat in parliament. Polls would suggest UKIP may lose all their seats and with a certain level of uncertainty as to whether a Tory or Labour government can run the country with competence some voters maybe inclined to go for the Green Party. Jonathan Bartely (co-leader of the Green Party), was on question time on Sunday night and did his party proud with some of his reasons for asking people to vote Green – he is under no illusion the General election will be between The Conservatives and Labour, however done a great job of illustrating how the Green party has fed into both Conservative and Labour Manifestos.

UKIP on the other hand seem to be losing popularity, previously they had been pro-Brexit and had won a lot of their previous votes flying the flag for Brexit. With the decision to leave the EU now in place – many of their previous voters are struggling to see / find reasons for choosing to Vote for them again.

Green Party to Win over 1.5 seats – 10/3 (skybet)

UK To keep their current seat and Win over 0.5 seats – 9/2 (skybet)

2017 UK General Election – Conservatives & SNP

Many are still expecting the Conservatives to win comfortably – the question is by just how many !

If polls are to be believed or carry any degree of accuracy – its been suggested the SNP could be about to lose up to 10 seats with Labour winning majority of the seats in Scotland. Currently holding approx 56 Parliamentary seats – if polls are to believed than the SNP could find themselves having less than 46 and therefore under 47.5 seats could be an interesting market to follow. Skybet are offering an amazing 20/1 for them to win all seats in Scotland suggesting they are likely to actually go the other way and lose seats as opposed to gaining further.

SNP To Win Under 47.5 Seats – 5/6 (skybet)

SNP To Win All 59 Scottish Seats – 20/1 (skybet)

Conservatives to win over 400+ Seats – 9/2 (skybet)

Conservatives to win a majority of exactly 212 Seats – 500/1 (skybet)

UKIP over 0.5 Seats, Lib Dems under 10.5 Seats, Nick Clegg & Tim Farron to both lose their seats – 80/1 (skybet)

Theresa May to be post-election PM but Conservatives fail to win a majority and win zero seats in Scotland – 100/1 (skybet)

Labour to win most votes but Conservatives to win an overall majority – 100/1 (skybet)

Today’s horse racing preview comes from two meetings, Gowran Park and Newton Abbot.

13.35 Gowran Park – Ladies Day June 24th (C&G) Maiden (9.5f)

Very difficult to look past Ger Lyons Cannonball, a Loup De Vega off spring and related to several winners should be too good for his opposition first time out. Best of the rest looks to come in Shabdiz of the Aga Khan’s who has a nice pedigree being by Sea The Stars through the bloodline of Marju.

Gloves On is also nicely pedigreed by Teofilo out of Tiffed and represents another yard in good form in Jim Bolger and Godolphin..

Cannonball : 2pt win @ 7/4 (BOG)

14.05 Gowran Park – Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Median Auction Maiden Fillies Maiden. (9.5f)

Jessica Harrington looks to have a very promising type on her hands here with Two For Tea who ran in a corresponding race at Cork last month when a good third to Hillcrest Fire, that was over half a furlong further than today and should make her presence felt under today’s pilot Connor O’Donoghue who is a very able booking.

Furiosa finished nine lengths in front of the selection at Cork, being by Bushranger I am a little surprise they are dropping her almost three quarters of a furlong when she looked to have staying attitude on her side.

Two For Tea : 1.5pt Win @ 11/4 (BOG)

14.40 Newton Abbot – totepool Racecourse Debit Card Betting Available Chase (Novices Limited Handicap)

I am very sweet on Colin Tizzard’s Exxaro here in what looks a good opportunity to progress on his fourth place at Warwick in a 0-135 Chase finishing when only one length separating the first four.

Once with Henry De Bromhead winning, over the trip and beyond and will be very hard to beat under Cobden. I think the one chasing him home is Kim Bailey’s Such A Legend who ran out second in a 0-135 recently at Southwell.

Exxaro : 3pt win @ 7/4 (BOG)
