Utd had a fairly easy path through to the round of 16, scoring 12 goals and conceding just 3. One loss to Basel did not cause any problems and Utd will hope to continue their good form in both the league and Champions League into next year.

Liverpool

Liverpool scored the 2nd most goals in this years Champions League group stage, scoring 23 goals, with PSG ahead on 25 goals. Liverpool demolished sides in their group but came undone when they travelled to Sevilla and could not hold onto a 3-0 half time lead. Defensively looking vulnerable but that could change in the January transfer window, Liverpool always look a threat on the attack and will entertain regardless.

Manchester City

Man City look a real threat, not just in the Premier League but in the Champions League too. Scoring 14 goals and almost making it 6 wins from 6, if not losing to Shakhtar Donetsk in the last group game. The attack has been unstoppable, similarly to Liverpool. City are 2nd favourites to lift the trophy, behind PSG.

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham were in one of the hardest groups this year but had no problems topping the group with 16 points, the most in this year’s group stages. Drawing 1-1 to holders Real Madrid at the Bernabeu and then winning 3-1 at Wembley was probably the biggest highlight of those Spurs’ players. A great manager in Mauricio Pocchetino and with striker Harry Kane in good form, Spurs could surprise plenty of people.
