Here’s our Horse Racing preview for the Cheltenham Festival day 2.

Cheltenham Festival Day 2 – 1.30pm – Neptune Investment Management Novices’ Hurdle (Grade 1)

Willie Mullins has 4 in the Neptune, Bacardys being the best of the 4 runners. 3rd in the Champion Bumper last year, Bacardys has been touted to go and win at this longer trip. Harry Fry takes Neon Wolf to the festival and the former points winner has its first run under rules.

Favourite – Neon Wolf
Value Tip / Bet – Bacardys
Each Way – Bon Papa OR Shattered Love

 

Cheltenham Festival Day 2 – 2.10pm – RSA Novices’ Chase (Grade 1)

A tough race to decide upon a winner but Alpha Des Obeaux has a tentative vote. The 7 year old ran a blinder in the World Hurdle last season,finishing 2nd to Thistlecrack and though disappointing last time out, trainer Mouse Morris explained the horse had bled. Nicky Henderson’s Might Bite will also have a chance, running well on its re appearance at Doncaster last time out.

Favourite – Might Bite
Value Tip / Bet – Alpha Des Obeaux
Each Way – 00 Seven OR Our Kaempfer

 

Cheltenham Festival Day 2 – 2.50pm – Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle (Grade 3)

Gordon Elliot’s Tombstone leads the market as favourite and was 4th in last year’s Supreme Novices’ Hurdle as well as beating Jezki in a Grade 3. River Frost has a 10lb rise in weights though the Alan king trained horse is running very well and looks as though it will fight out the finish with Tombstone. Willie Mullins has 5 in this race and Tin Soldier heads the line with Ruby Walsh aboard.

Favourite – Tombstone
Value Tip / Bet – River Frost
Each Way – Tin Soldier OR Taquin Du Seuil

 

Cheltenham Festival Day 2 – 3.30pm – Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase (Grade 1)

All eyes will be on Douvan for the Champion Hurdle as the Willie Mullins trained Gelding looks to make it 14 wins in a row. The 7-year-old looks extremely well treated and in the past 2 years at Cheltenham, has won the Arkle and the Supreme Novices’. God’s Own could be the ‘Without the fave’ bet. The 9-year-old has lost 3 this season but has run well in defeat and looks the best of the rest.

Favourite – Douvan
Value Tip / Bet – God’s Own
Each Way – Sir Valentino OR Fox Norton

 

Cheltenham Festival Day 2 – 4.10pm – Glenfarclas Chase (Cross Country Chase)

Cantlow didn’t have the best of runs at the venue in January when finishing 2nd but things didn’t fall right for the 12-year-old. Making the running did not suit and the race was a handicap, conditions should suit Enda Bolger’s Gelding. Gordon Elliot’s Cause of Causes could go well and Sausalito Sunrise, trained by Pat Hobbs, takes on a different test but should be capable of running into the places.

Cheltenham Festival Preview 2017

One of the biggest Horse Racing events starts today – The Cheltenham Festival – which means we’ve some time out from football to look the main races of the day from the festival to give our tips and opinions.

13:30 – Cheltenham Festival – Sky Bet Supreme Novices’ Hurdle (Grade 1)

Willie Mullins goes into the Supreme Novice’s Hurdle with 4 runners and the best backed is Melon with Ruby Walsh aboard. Last month’s Betfair Hurdle winner Ballyandy is 2nd favourite and the Twiston – Davies duo could be where the value lies. Nicky Henderson’s River Wylde could also go well for the most successful Cheltenham trainer, as he looks to fight off Nicholls and Mullins this year.

Each Way – Bunk Off Early OR River Wylde

2.10pm – Cheltenham Festival – Racing Post Arkle Challenge Trophy Novices’ Chase (Grade 1)

Nicky Henderson’s unbeaten Altior is an odds-on favourite and quite rightly so. From the same yard as Sprinter Sacre and Simonsig, the 7-year-old looks un apposable, especially since deciding to not go for the Champion Chase against Douvan. Kim Bailey’s Charbel, who came 2nd to Altior at Sandown in a Grade 1 previously, along with Willie Mullins’ Black Caviar look to be the best of the rest.

Value Tip / Bet (without Altior) – Black Caviar
Each Way – Charbel OR Cloudy Dream

2.50pm – Cheltenham Festival – Ultima Handicap Chase (Grade 3)

Singlefarmpayment leads the market for the handicap chase. Unbeaten in 2 races at Cheltenham, the Tom George trained horse is very well weighted compared to Gordon Elliot’s Noble Endeavour who has gone up 11lbs since its win in during Christmas. Holywell and The Druids Nephew look to be able to run into place money.

Each Way – Holywell OR Noble Endeavour

3:30pm – Cheltenham Festival – Stan James Champion Hurdle Challenge Trophy (Grade 1)

Yanworth has won 7 out of 8 on the hurdles and is the favourite for Alan King. Having beaten The New One at Kempton, Yanworth has the beating of the Twiston Davies Gelding. Nicky Henderson’s Barain Power looks to have a decent chance though has a rise in class. Buveur D’air moves back to hurdles and has beaten Petite Mouchoir as well as coming 3rd to Altior in the Supreme Novices Hurdle last year and could well be the danger to Yanworth. Whoever the winner, this is sure to be one of the biggest races at today’s Cheltenham Festival.

Each Way – Brain Power

4:10pm – Cheltenham Festival – OLBG Mare’s Hurdle (Grade 1)

The betting is all focused on the 2 Willie Mullins’ runners, Limini and Vroum Vroum Mag. Both previous Cheltenham Festival winners and could could take a lot of beating though Apples jade beat Vroum Vroum Mag on her return at Fairyhouse. Jer’s Girl will enjoy the trip but will find it hard to beat the Mullins pair.

Betalyst Football Cards – Feedback

I’ve been busy working away on new features for the site and am in the process of hiring some new people to come and work for Betalyst so that I can grow the site faster and keep everything up to date as currently it is only me running the site.

One of the new features I am really excited about is something that I’ve given the working title of ‘Betalyst Football Cards’. These are similar to what you might normally see from Horse Racing sites such as Timeform that provide lots of data for a horse race in an easy to comprehend card, helping you make better betting decisions. I am trying to create the same thing for football!

I have now reached a point where I would like to get your feedback before I start to polish the final product ready to make it available to you all every day.

As you will see it is all very basic to look at right now as I focus on getting the best data presented and will look to improve how it looks once I have all your feedback and potentially add more data to them from your requests.

Here is a quick run through of what they contain:

  • 1st line: Fixture – The first brackets contain the Betalyst pick for the match (1×2) – The second brackets contain the Betalyst supremacy score for the game… Positive numbers favour home team, negative numbers favour away team.
  • 2nd line: Has the kick-off time in GMT
  • 3rd line: Has any previous results for this fixture
  • 4th & 5th lines: Show the Both Teams To Score data for the home and away side. The first number being how many of their last 10 games HAD BTTS and the 2nd number being how many DID NOT HAVE BTTS.
  • 6th & 7th lines: Similar to the both teams to score lines, except showing games that went over or under 2.5 goals
  • Next you will find both teams last 6 games and the result of the game. It shows that teams goals first.
  • Finally you have the percentages the Betalyst algorithm has given for the 1×2, over 2.5 goals and BTTS events for that game

As you can see there is a good deal of information on these cards already but I am interested to know what information you might want to see on them that is currently missing?
