Stoke City vs Swansea City – Match Preview

Stoke City vs Swansea City
Tuesday 18th
 September 2018
SkyBet Championship, BET365 Stadium

Live on Sky Sports Football – Kick-Off: 20:00 GMT

Stoke City vs Swansea City – both sides are still adapting to life in the new league after both getting relegated at the end of last season. The hosts have struggled to settle with one win in their opening seven matches. Meanwhile, the visitors are in the play-off places and seem to be enjoying Championship life a little more.

Stoke are favourites for this match despite their poor form. SkyBet have priced them at 17/20 to win, however their recent showings make this market a questionable one to back. Striker Benik Afobe has been the only bright spark so far for The Potters. The 25-year-old has four league goals to his name and is priced at 4/1 to break the deadlock.

Both scoring goals and keeping them out has been an issue for Gary Rowett’s side so far. They blew a 2-0 lead over the weekend against a Sheffield Wednesday side that has been uninspiring of late. For Stoke to win to nil is priced at 2/1.

Swansea are the outsiders for this match and are priced at 7/2. Great odds to be part of an accumulator. With just one loss in their first seven matches, Graham Potter’s side will enter this match with a fair amount of confidence. Oli McBurnie has been in delightful form this season, with four goals to his name. The Scottish international has the habit for being in the right place, at the right time. SkyBet have priced him at 9/4 to score anytime.

Swansea have stood strong in defence with only five goals conceded from seven matches. However, Stoke have already bagged nine goals and possess some clear attacking potency. Swansea to win and both teams to score is 8/1 – cracking odds.

Both teams have scored in each in each of their last five matches head to head at the Bet365 Stadium.

The referee for this match is unannounced however I would expect a few cards for each team as both need crucial midweek points.

Stoke City vs Swansea City will be televised on Sky Sports Football and kicks off at 20:00 GMT.

Prediction: Stoke City 1 – 2 Swansea City

– Swansea’s attacking prowess has been impressive and maybe a little too much for Stoke to deal with.

Inter vs Tottenham Hotspur – Match Preview

Inter vs Tottenham Hotspur
Tuesday 18th September 2018, San Siro
UEFA Champions League – Group B Qualifier

BT Sport 3 – 17:55 GMT.

Inter vs Tottenham Hotspur – Champions League football is back with Inter Milan and Tottenham locking horns on Tuesday night.

Both teams have had mixed starts to their league campaign but will both crave European success. The rest of Group B is made up by PSV and Barcelona. With such a tough group getting 3 points in the opener is crucial.

Inter are priced at 15/8 to win the match in front of a home crowd. Despite their European stature and history, this is their first Champions League in six years. Seasons of woe have seen them slip down Serie A and out of Europe’s front runners. However, after some heavy investment in key areas, they look potent and dangerous. Mauro Icardi is the one to watch for the ‘Nerazzuri’ however he enters the match with a dry spell of goals. SkyBet have priced him at 7/2 to score first however he will have to buck up his ideas if he is to cause Spurs damage.

One stat in favour of Inter is their record at home against English opposition. They’ve won 66% of their continental home matches against Premier League clubs with 10 wins, 3 draws and 2 losses. Inter to win 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1 is 5/2 and maybe worth backing if you fancy a home victory.

Tottenham are priced at 8/5 to win on the road but this will not be easy. Mauricio Pochettino is blessed with an impressive attacking arsenal – so look no further than World Cup golden boot winner Harry Kane. Kane is arguably one of, if not the world’s best striker and is complimented with creative players surrounding him. SkyBet have priced the England captain at 5/2 to score and for Spurs to win. Well worth backing.

Spurs campaign last season saw them top their group that featured Real Madrid and Borrussia Dortmund. However, their recent record out in Italy does not make pretty reading with 3 draws and one loss in their last four visits.

The referee for this encounter will be Clement Turpin from France. Turpin is renowned for his no nonsense style of officiating so expect cards on a big night in Italy.

Inter vs Tottenham Hotspur will be televised in the UK on BT Sport 3 and kicks off at 17:55 GMT.

Prediction: 1-1 Draw

– Hard to split these two. Spurs have the stronger squad but away from home can always be tricky.

Southampton vs Brighton – Match Preview

Southampton vs Brighton
Sunday 17th
 September 2018
FA Premier League, St Mary’s Stadium

Live on Sky Sports Premier League – Kick-Off: 20:00 GMT

Southampton will host local rivals Brighton and Hove Albion this Monday in the Premier League.

The two sides met recently in the Carabao Cup, where the Saints managed a late victory thanks to striker Charlie Austin.

Both sides have accumulated four points from their opening four matches, leaving them both in midtable positions. They’ve also both won one match each and both will be wanting to make it two wins as this match is the derby of the south coast.

The hosts haven’t had the ideal start to their new campaign considering they haven’t faced any of the top six clubs yet. They are EVENS on SkyBet to get a victory over their local rivals at St Mary’s this Monday night. New signings Danny Ings has already netted twice this season and looks a dangerous figure, spearheading the Saints attack. The ex-Liverpool man is priced at 4/1 to break the deadlock. His pace and dribbling skills will prove tricky against the, at times, rigid Brighton defence.

In their last five outings, they’ve managed to keep three clean sheets. Southampton to win to nil is priced at 21/10.

The visitors will be looking for revenge after their early exit in the Carabao Cup. SkyBet have priced them at 3/1 to do so. Albion are fortunate to have an experienced goal scorer in Glenn Murray, who has already bagged three goals this season. The 34-year-old has a knack for knowing where the goal is and is incredibly gifted in the air. The talisman is priced at 2/1 to score anytime.

The referee for this match will be Anthony Taylor. Taylor has averaged 40 booking points in his 4 Premier league matches this season. With it being a local derby, expect cards.

Southampton vs Brighton will be televised on Sky Sports Premier League in the UK and kicks off at 20:00 GMT.

Prediction: Southampton 0 -2 Brighton.

– Although SkyBet have them as outsiders, they have plenty of players who can hurt Saints defence. They often perform well away from home and in big pressure matches.
