Horse Racing Preview

Here is our horse racing preview for Saturday 1st April 2017 across UK and Ireland Horse Racing today, unit stakes advised upon each selection.

Horse Racing – UK / Ireland – 1st April 2017 -Doncaster 1.50pm – Betway Cammidge Trophy Stakes (Listed)

Absolutely So 6/1 – 2pt stake

Horse Racing – UK / Ireland – 1st April 2017 – Doncaster 3pm  Betway Doncaster Mile Stakes (Listed)

Stormy Antarctic 3/1 – 3pt stake

Horse Racing – UK / Ireland – 1st April 2017 – Navan 3.25pm – Kilberry Restaurant Handicap Hurdle (80-109)

Hareth 9/2 – 2pt stake

Horse Racing – UK / Ireland – 1st April 2017 – Stratford 3.55pm – Bordeaux Undiscovered Mathilde Handicap Hurdle (Class 3)

Asum 8/1 – 2pt stake

Notes

Stormy Antarctic has been running in Group 1 company and  looks to have a great chance of crossing the line in first place. The 4 year old won the Group 3 Craven Stakes after a break and finished 2nd in the Group 1 Prix Jean Prat in Chantilly last year. The Colt can run fresh and Ed Walker should have Stormy Antarctic in top shape after a 168 day break.

Asum didnt run its race on its handicap debut at Doncaster in January, running far too green. The drop back in trip along with the fitting of a hood should help the progressive Skelton trained gelding.

Uk and Ireland Horse Racing Preview 31st March 2017

Horse Racing Preview

Here is our horse racing preview for Friday 31st March 2017 across UK and Ireland Horse Racing today, unit stakes advised upon each selection.

Horse Racing – UK / Ireland – 31st March 2017 – Lingfield 2.30pm – 32red Casino Handicap

Right Action 11/4 – 2pt stake

Horse Racing – UK / Ireland – 31st March 2017 – Wetherby 2.50pm – Follow racing_uk On Twitter Handicap Chase

Akula 9/2 – 2pt stake

Horse Racing – UK / Ireland – 31st March 2017 – Lingfield 4pm  Betway Stayers Handicap

Tartan Bute 2/1 – 5pt stake

Horse Racing – UK / Ireland – 31st March 2017 – Newcastle 7.45pm – Sun Bets On The App Store Apprentice Handicap

Swansway 3/1 – 3pt stake

Notes

Tartan Bute ran over shorter at Wolverhampton last time out and finished 2nd and now steps back up in trip, as when winning in early March over Course and Distance. Up 2lb, the Mark Johnston trained Gelding has a great chance. Marshall Aid could be the main danger.

Right Action ran a good 2nd at Chelmsford last time out. Though the race was void, the 3 year old looked progressive as it did at Wolverhampton, when winning a maiden after 5 months off, having been gelded. The Richard Fahey trained horse will have to come on again in this competitive handicap.

Horse Racing Preview - Warwick and Wolverhampton -30th March 2017

Horse Racing Preview – 30th March 2017

14.50 Warwick

Today’s Horse Racing Preview, we have 2 selections, the first comes from the 2.50pm at Warwick in Nigel Hawkes Deauville Crystal. The daughter of Ravens Pass looked to have plenty in hand at Newbury last weekend when given a very patient ride by Sean Bowen.

She travelled well throughout her race and picked them up from last to record a two and quarter length victory. She will have to step up once more to succeed, but she had been turned out quickly by the trainer which makes you think she’s still off a workable mark.

The danger in the race could probably be Magie Du Ma from the David Pipe yard. She finished in front of Evening Hush two weeks ago in the Triumph Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. She still looks progressive.

Deauville Crystal : 2pt Win @ 9/4 (BOG)

15.45 Wolverhampton

The all weather is always a tricky dilemma in finding well in horses, but Jamie Spencer rides David Simcock’s Ms Gillard who has a very live chance of getting her head in front this afternoon.

She is a consistent sort who ran well here last time when finishing runner up to Andrew Balding’s Alhajjaj, going behind by two lengths. She was very disappointing at Newcastle last time under 5lb claimer Sophie Killoran. She looks the type that could benefit from the hold-up tactics that Spencer had been portrayed for. A good pace and luck in running and she could get her head finally in front at the twelfth attempt.

Ms Gillard : 2pt win @ 3/1 (BOG)

Here is our horse racing preview for Thursday 30th March 2017 across UK and Ireland Horse Racing today, unit stakes advised upon each selection.

Landau 7/2 – 3pt stake

Horse Racing – UK / Ireland – 30th March 2017 – Wolverhampton 5.25pm – Betway Insider Handicap

Thorntoun Care 10/1 – 3pt stake (EW)

Notes

Landau returned from a 20 month break and finished 3rd at Naas over a month ago. The Gordon Elliott trained Gelding will certainly come on for that having had another 32 days off to be in top form in this handicap.

Thorntoun Care didn’t get the best of runs on his last C+D outing, finishing 7th. But the race didnt run to plan for the 6 year old and now 3lb lower than last time out, Iain Jardine’s Gelding has a great chance for his first win since 2014. Surround Sound could be the danger in the field.

Horse Racing Preview - 15.40pm Sedgefield - 29th March 2017

Horse Racing Preview – 15.40pm Sedgefield – 29th March 2017

This looks a very competitive little race at Sedgefield 15.40pm to get involved in, with three of the entries taking each other on once more from their course and distance encounter last month.

First on that list is the winner Mr Clarkson who beat both Crackdeloust and Reverant Cust last month. He ran out a two and a half length winner over Crackdeloust when conceding 6lb at the weights.

This time around Mr Clarkson will have to concede 15lb to the runner up, he will also have to contain a 12lb rise to overhaul his quest to hold that form, the trip is a concern once more for him staying around 19.8f which he was subsequently beaten twenty two lengths by Sneaky Feeling of Philip Hobbs.

The third from that encounter was Reverant Cust who is stepping up in trip once more. He was coming off the back of a good win at Newcastle two runs back and has been beaten again since when third on his return to Gosforth Park ten days ago. His trip has been more effective around 16.8f even though he has competed over 19.2f this year when runner up at Catterick, but was beaten by thirteen lengths that day. He does get weight all round from his two adversaries this time, 17lb from Mr Clarkson for a twenty three and a quarter length beating which does not look enough to turn the tables on that form, also he gets just 2lb from Crackdeloust which again looks a stiff ask at the weights.

Brian Ellison won this last year with General Mahler and sends Crackdeloust here off a very handy mark now handicapping over a longer trip. Since splitting his rivals last month he has had the advantage of a 34 day break which should bring him on. Northern based trainer Ellison is a master of picking up these kind of races and I actually find him hard to beat in this race, he will be partnered by the inform Danny Cook who has a 1-3 strike over the past fortnight.

One that cannot be discounted is Bollin Ace of Tim Easterby’s. He bounced back to form after a seven week layoff when hitting a brace of wins over 21.2f and 19.9f this year at Sedgefield. His visit to Newcastle last time out saw him not finish the race when unshipping Lorcan Murtagh. Even though he is having to give weight away in this field, he has to be feared returning to a course that has seen him win twice, but I have doubts on the drying ground which has seen him fail on all four occasions in his career.

With the huge weight advantage and inform Danny Cook booked, I am willing to give Brian Ellison’s entry here CRACKDELOUST a chance of reversing the form with Mr Clarkson, now stepping up in trip. Ground looks a concern for Bollin Ace, but still has to be feared being a course and distance winner twenty four days ago. Reverant Cust would have to improve significantly to reverse the form with both Crackdeloust and Mr Clarkson.

CRACKDELOUST : 2pt Win @ 11/4

Sir Harry Collins 2/1 – 3pt stake

Notes

Treaty Of Rome ran well when 2nd over 5f last time out at Southwell. Stepping back up in trip, the Gelding should run a big race. Viva Verglas is hoping to land a hat trick and looks to be the danger in the field.

Sir Harry Collins finished 2nd at Lingfield 4 days ago and as long as this run doesn’t come too soon, the 3 year old will be hard to beat running from 1lb lower in the weights.

Count Octave 4/6 – 5pt stake

Notes

Brillare Momento was running well and looked to be the winner until unseating rider 2 out at Ludlow back in December. The mare looks to be improving and can go well with Aidan Coleman back on for Martin Keighley.

Count Octave came a promising 3rd on debut at Goodwood in October but hasn’t run since. Andrew Balding’s colt, who is a half brother to the mighty Frankel, will definitely be progressing and up in distance here, will be difficult to beat. John Gosden’s filly, Utopian Dream has more recent form but I believe Count Octave will be on top on the day.

Dan Skelton’s Stage One looks to be progressing and is a former point winner. Ran well on handicap debut and the Skelton’s have a great chance today.

Horse Racing Preview 13.50 Wolverhampton - 27 March 2017

Horse Racing Preview  13.50 Wolverhampton – 27 March 2017

With the flat season just literally around the corner, we turn our focus to the 13:50 at Wolverhampton. Once more Richard Hannon has his early string in good heart. His debutante here in the curtain raiser at Wolverhampton is Al Jawza.

Al Jazwa is the daughter of Nathaniel, who should emulate her father’s transition record as a three-year-old. Nathaniel was a prolific winner when making his transition from his juvenile career, landing races such as the Group 2 King Edward VII Stakes, Group 1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes on his resume.

He also went on to have a very successful four-year-old campaign when winning the Group 1 Coral Eclipse, which included placing’s behind the mighty Frankel in the Group 1 Champion Stakes when thereafter he was retired to stud.

The dam Mosqueras Romance’s only win came on the all-weather in a Fillies Handicap at Kempton, with her best career run coming in the Listed Grosser Preis Der Metallbau Burckhardt in Germany when runner up. She had a fairly good rating in the mid-nineties competing at Listed level quite a few times on the all-weather, mainly finishing in the placing’s. Al Jawza will no doubt come on for her first run this afternoon, the combination of Hannon and Levey won this two years ago with Fondly who went on to disappoint thereafter. Not taking away that this race will not find that many that will go on to big heights, but she could be a money spinner for Al Shaqab in middle class handicap’s this year.

What about the favourite ?

The likely favourite looks to be William Haggas’s Wurood who has had the benefit of a juvenile career when competing around the sprint sphere on the turf. Wurood will step into breeding non-territory when she tackles 7.2f this afternoon, an index that only her father tried and failed. Her father was Dark Angel, a prolific sprinter who won the St Leger Yearling Stakes, Mill Reef Stakes and The Middle Park Stakes, he was retired shortly after when a substantial offer from Morristown Lattin Stud came in and was snapped up by owners Catherine Corbett and Chris Wright. There have been four winning favourites from seven renewals of this race in the past, none of the winners have really go on to show high class.

A Sire I followed last year and was very disappointed with was Casamento, he has sired here Castle Hill Cassie who is trained by Ben Haslam. Her debut run came at Redcar when finishing three and a half lengths behind Forest Ranger who no doubt will be winning handicaps this season for Richard Fahey. The third, Ray’s The Money, made a very pleasing seasonal debut at Newcastle on the all-weather when winning for trainer Michael Bell. The fourth, Desperados Destiny also franked the form on his last start of 2016 winning on the all-weather at Wolverhampton. Castle Hill Cassie also has the bloodline through Dark Angel so she cannot be dismissed, she will be partnered by Graham Lee this afternoon and any market support should be noted.

George Scott could be an interesting trainer to keep on your side on the all-weather this year. George comes from a racing background which saw his grandfather’s way back in the 1920’s and 30’s training around p2p’s and flat. Let’s not forget this young man has had a strong influence by non-other than Champion National Hunt trainer Paul Nicholl’s who he rode Breedsbreeze, who went on to win the Tolworth Hurdle.

After an un-encouraging spell in the US he returned to become understudy at Warren Place when working alongside Lady Cecil. Now out on his own he has to earn the respect which he is doing just fine. He saddles Seeking Attention in this race, the daughter of Elusive Quality, as you can say improved slowly. She did not show much on her debut when finishing 8th of 14 over a mile at Kempton, she was subsequently dropped in trip to today’s index and showed vast improvement when finishing fifth at Southwell eleven days ago and if this race has not come too quick for her she could be a nice filly to play around with throughout the season.

I would like to think this will turn out winners for the future, but it’s not been the best of races for finding something special. There will be some significant improvements and unknown quality in the race. Wurood has to demand the greatest of respect after sprint runs as a juvenile, but I am not sure 7f is going to be her index after looking over her parents’ sprint resume. Castle Hill Cassie again is another that has a benefit of a run as a juvenile, it was a good third that has produced winners from her race and with Graham Lee coming for just the one ride, it’s significant that she is not easily over looked in the market support.

I might of talked myself out of backing Castle Hill Cassie this time around for the Richard Hannon debutante Al Jawza, who is well bred for this kind of starting point and distance in her career. She has a paper tissue price of 13/2 which I would be very surprised to not see her around the 11/4 mark coming from an inform yard, but as it is her first start, she is going to be a bit green, and in the past I have seen Nathaniel’s fillies hang on debut, but she will be ready to go I am sure, but for now if the tissue price is correct I will suggest an each way play on her this time around.

AL JAWZA : 1pt each way (BOG)
