Arsenal vs Valencia
Thursday 2 May 2019
UEFA Europa League, Emirates Stadium

Live on BT Sport 2 HD– Kick-Off: 20:00 GMT

The UEFA Europa League semi-finals are upon us as Arsenal will host Spanish side Valencia in the first-leg of their final four tie.

The hosts defeated tough Italian opposition in Napoli last round but will be hoping their poor domestic form doesn’t affect this Thursday night. Meanwhile, Valencia knocked out rivals Villareal in the last round to make the semi-final stages. They have been seriously impressive in this competition.

Arsenal are favourites to win this match and are priced at 19/20 to win by SkyBet. The gunners have had a number of disappointing results in their bid for a top four spot in the Premier League. However, their home record makes for impressive reading with eight wins from ten matches. Striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been in great form this season and has four goals in this competition. The Gabon international is priced at 13/10 to sore anytime.

Valencia are underdogs despite how well they have played in the Europa League. SkyBet have priced them at 14/5 to win. Just like their opponents, Valencia have struggled in La Liga in recent weeks but have an impressive record in this competition since dropping out of the UEFA Champions League. Daniel Parejo has two goals from his last four matches and is priced at 7/1 to open the scoring this Thursday. Valencia will fancy their chances against a struggling Arsenal defence. They are 13/2 to win and for both teams to score.

The referee for this match will be Clement Turpin. The French official is renowned for being a no-nonsense referee and often struggles to let the game flow. In both their last outings their matches had 50+ booking points. SkyBet are offering 11/10 for the same again.

Arsenal vs Valencia will be televised live int the UK on BT Sport 2 HD and kicks off at 20:00.

Prediction: Arsenal 1-0 Valencia

– The home side will want to make sure they don’t concede an away goal. Will be a tight match.

Barcelona vs Liverpool
Wednesday 1st May 2019
UEFA Champions League, Camp Nou

Live on BT Sport 2 HD – Kick-Off: 20:00 GMT

Barcelona vs Liverpool: Liverpool will be hoping to keep their hopes of a double alive when they head to face Barcelona in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final.

Jurgen Klopp’s side can still claim the Premier League and Champions League trophies in what will a pivotal month for the Reds’ season. After comfortably dispatching of Porto in the last round, this game is a real test for Liverpool, against one of Europe’s very finest sides. The contrasting nature of the two styles will be interesting; Barcelona love to keep possession and build attacks, whilst the Reds possesses frightening pace on the counter-attack. As a result, playing the away leg first should be a bonus for Liverpool, as they have the chance of banking a few away goals to take back to Anfield. It was that same speed and guile that saw them brush past Bayern Munich in the last 16 and I think they will operate in a similar fashion once more.

Barcelona will be buoyant after claiming the league title on Saturday after a 1-0 win over Levante. Unsurprisingly, it was Lionel Messi’s goal that clinched the La Liga trophy for the Catalan giants. With two pieces of silverware in the bag, their attentions are now firmly fixed on the Champions League trophy. After knocking out Manchester United in the last round, Ernesto Valverde will be wary of the threat Liverpool pose. However, they have the advantage of the Nou Camp in the first leg and when you have a little Argentinian world beater, you always stand a chance. With Luis Suarez and Phillipe Coutinho, against their former club, in tandem, it should make for a very attacking game of football.

Bjorn Kuipers is the referee for this fixture. The German has officiated 7 Eredivisie matches this season. In that time, he has accumulated an average booking points total of 2.57 cards per game. Therefore, I would advise a maximum of 50+ total booking points for this fixture.

With the way both sides set up, this should be quite the spectacle. Liverpool need to make the most of this chance to bank an away goal or two, as they did in Munich. Otherwise, with Messi around, the game can swing in the flash of a left boot.

Barcelona vs Liverpool will be televised live in the UK on BT Sport 2 with kick-off at 20:00 BST.
