Horse Racing Preview – Windsor & Hamilton – 3rd July 2017

Horse Racing Preview - Ludlow - 26th October 2017

Today’s horse racing preview comes from two meetings with selections coming from Hamilton and Windsor. The most disappointing selection on Saturday was Midterm, again he has proven that he has either not trained on as a four-year-old, or the fact the horse has just lost interest. Considering he has only hit the frame on one occasion since winning last April is a concern, but they still persist to run him over 12f and even entered in the St Leger, I as a punter would like to see him dropped back to 10f on good ground, given some cover and let him stride out at his leisure.

19.30 Windsor – Strategic Proposals 30th Anniversary Handicap (0-85) (10f)

Hugo Palmer sending one runner to a meeting has to be taken on board, with one runner yesterday here at Windsor in Murad Khan obliging well at 8/1 with today’s booked jockey the Doyler. Their sole representative this evening is Anythingtoday.

James Doyle has ridden him twice, however, the selection has failed to impress when last of eight at Sandown on years re-appearance, but that was far superior competition with the third Century Dream franking that form at the weekend, the runner up First Nation was beaten by a very well handicapped Atty Persse at Royal Ascot, the third has run well again behind two good types, the fifth place ran well in the Group 2 King Edward V11 Stakes so there could be excuses.

I thought he improved from Sandown when fourth at Goodwood beaten just over a length in a good 0-90 handicap, now he does have to prove he stays this trip but with the way the yard is at present he should go extremely close. The only danger for me is Willie Muir’s Calvados Spirit who makes the step up to 12f for the first time. He was not beaten that far in a 0-90 handicap at Bath a couple of weeks ago and still looks well treated.

ANYTHINGTODAY : 2pts Win @ 7/2 (BOG)

20.15 Hamilton – Racing Uk Profits Returned To Racing Handicap (0-75) (11.1f)

Again, I have weighed in on the fact that Hugo Palmer has sent just the one entry to Scotland in Qaviy Cash. The son of Oasis Dream is not overly exposed when just touched off in a maiden on the all-weather at Kempton park recently and the fact he stays around this index on his handicap debut is interesting. A lenient mark of 75 is there to be exploited on what he has shown to date.

Main dangers look to come from brace winner Archies Affaire and Powerful Love who come from two strong stables especially the latter being from Mark Johnston’s. Powerful Love finished just under three lengths behind the smart Solo Mission at Carlisle and will get the aid of the blinkers once more. Archies Affaire has notched up a brace of wins at Carlisle and over 9.1f here at Hamilton two runs back. With both recent winners subject to penalties this is a good opportunity for Hugo Palmers least exposed Qaviy Cash to land the spoils.

QAVIY CASH : 2pt Win @ 5/2 (BOG)

20.00 Windsor – Windsor Racecourse Supporting Racing Staff Week Maiden Stakes (8.1f)

The value of the race looks to come from Jeremy Noseda’s Scat Daddy off spring Jus Pires, with the sire having a cracking season already, I would like to think Jus Pires can leave his debut run behind when finishing seventh at Newmarket, despite the winner Music Seeker being beaten recently at Doncaster he was only three parts of a length behind a horse called Auberge Du Lac who won a 0-105 valuable handicap at Yarmouth at the weekend when beating To Dibba.

Main dangers, Roger Varian and De Sousa team up with Asaas who shaped well on seasons re-appearance at Lingfield when behind Sporting Times. His two turf runs at Newmarket and Newbury as a juvenile were solid enough when behind the likes of Ronald R, one other to consider is Clive Cox’s filly Unified who ran well against her own sex finishing fourth in what is looking a strong maiden.

JUS PIRES : 1pt each way @ 11/2 (BOG)

***I will also suggest an each way treble on all three selections, as they look solid enough to be on the premises on merit***

Best of luck, Gamble Responsibly
