Today’s horse racing preview comes from three meetings, Chepstow, Windsor and Wolverhampton. Well a welcoming Sunday off yesterday after a tough week at the Royal meeting, but once again the blog managed to hit three winners at nice prices on the last day, Saturdays have been generous over this month with the most winners hitting home.
15.00 Chepstow – Equestrian Surfaces Median Auction Maiden Stakes (12f)
This maiden could actually produce a couple of nice types for the future, the first I will look at is Ed Walkers Dark Profit. He has had two runs now and I suppose you can say the penny is finally dropping, but I am not convinced as he looked all out over course and distance three weeks ago.
Second in the market is Mark Johnston’s Assiduous who finished fourth on debut at Haydock when behind a blog winner UAE King, the front two in the market are potentially mid nineties performers, so Assiduous does warrant respect with main stable jockey turning up to take the ride.
However, I am taking them both on with Charlie Fellowes newcomer Normandie Attack. This son of Kendargent and if you’re not familiar with the Sire, he produced 13 black type winners last year and even though more renown for developing sprinter’s, when a middle distance progeny comes along, it is worth noting.
The most well-known middle distance progeny is Erik the Red who won three times up to 105, so I am willing to give Normandiea Attack a go, only four runners so it’s all in on the win only.

15.15 Wolverhampton – Invest City of Wolverhampton Novice Stakes (5f)
Jamie Osborne’s Fab has to really show that his runner up to Queen Mary Stakes winner Heartache was no fluke.
Fab finished one length in front of Lynn’s Memory who has franked the form winning at Redcar last week. It’s a good bit of form, but I am not that taken in that he is an optimum specialist.
Being by Society Rock whose progeny’s do tend to come in for a first run, but I think he will be more effective at 6f in the near future. I am going to take him on with the Mark Johnson entry Branscombe who has had the benefit of three runs and should start to get the hang of things at this stage.
Winner last time out at Sandown in novice company, he seemed to have realized what’s his method is, to win races, sensibly left in novice company and hard to beat again.

17.15 Wolverhampton – Voice Of Racing Day This Friday Median Auction Maiden Stakes (7.1f)
I can categorically say I am not a fan of 7f on any all-weather course, but I am hopeful that the eye catching booking of De Sousa on Ismail’s entry here Right About Now could be appropriately named.
Bombed out on debut at Newbury in a very competitive maiden which has thrown up three winners two include Addeybb and Rigoletto.
He improved quickly when making all weather debut at Kempton when behind a useful type of Godolphins Don’t Give Up. This trip could just be on the sharp side at present being by 9f & 10f winning sire Famous Name, but sets the standard here.
The one I fear the most is Ed Dunlop’s My Illusionist who finished behind the selection at Kempton. He looked very green and pulled hard before coming off the bridle turning for home. I think he will improve for that in-experience and at least hit the frame.

17.50 Windsor – Best Of British Festival 1-3 July maiden Stakes (5.1f)
The top two in the market look the best of these in the curtain raiser. Richard Hannon has Ryan Moore booked to ride Strategic, this son of Kodiac has a couple of big sprint entries later in the year and has to be taken extremely serious on debut for a yard that relish maidens at Windsor.
However, I am going to take him on with Roger Varian’s Keynote, sired by Dragon Pulse and full brother to Legendary Lunch who Richard Hannon trained to success as a juvenile.
Connections have come here over running him on the all-weather at Kempton on Wednesday, no doubt will know his business on debut.
