Germany vs England Match Preview

Here’s our Germany vs England Match Preview which kicks off at 19:45 tonight and can be watched on ITV.

Gary Cahill takes the captaincy for tonight’s friendly against Germany in Dortmund at 7.45pm.

Gareth Southgate manages his first game as permanent England Manager after being Caretaker Manager for England’s previous 4 games.

England are without Wayne Rooney, Harry Kane and Daniel Sturridge due to injury which gives Jermain Defoe, Jamie Vardy and Marcus Rashford a chance to lead the line. Raheem Sterling missed training on Tuesday and is a doubt and Michail Antonio withdrew form the squad due to a hamstring injury earlier in the week.

Germany will be without Manuel Neuer, Julian Draxler, Mesut Ozil and Mario Gomez as they miss out due to injury. Lukasz Podolski will captain Germany in his final appearance at International level.

Germany have lost only one of 18 games played in Dortmund, losing to Italy in the 2006 World Cup.

England have lost only one of their last 16 away Internationals, back in November 2016 to Spain.

With both squads missing key players and with World Cup qualifiers to play this weekend, I expect the game to end in a draw – that in mind – Skybet have some very lucrative Request-A-Bets (RAB) on offer tonight.

The 50/1 No Goal Scorer/No booking points could be a good shout, however, the last time round these 2 sides met in a friendly in Germany, we thought the game would be a bore-draw – only for it to be a 3-2 thriller, with England coming back from being 2-0 down.

War Department has been in excellent form for Keith Dalgliesh and though the draw may not be ideal, the 4 year old will give a good solid run and can notch its 2nd win of the month.

Here’s our Horse Racing preview for the Cheltenham Festival day 4.

Cheltenham Festival Day 4 – 1.30pm – JCB Triumph Hurdle (Grade 1)

Defi Du Seuil has won 3 out of 3 here at Cheltenham and has also won all 5 starts over hurdles and looks a strong favourite. Landofhopeandglory has good stamina and the heavy ground on its last outing did not suit. Nicky Henderson’s Charli Parcs fell in the Adonis at Kempton but the trainers believe the horse to be back in good form.

Cheltenham Festival Day 4 – 2.10pm – Randox Health County Handicap Hurdle (Grade 3)

North Hill Harvey runs for Dan Skelton, who has 3 entries in this race, looks to be the stable selection. He won the Greatwood at Cheltenham and has a great chance. Mick Jazz came third in its only Handicap race and could go well for the in form Gordon Elliott.

Cheltenham Festival Day 4 – 2.50pm – Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle (Grade 1)

Death Duty beat a Grade 3 winner at Navan and then a Grade 1 winner at Naas. Though slightly lucky due to a fall from Augusta Kate, Gordon Elliott’s horse should give a good account. The Worlds End ran a fine race when coming in 2nd to No Hassle Hoff, with the winner receiving a 7lb pull on the runner up.

Cheltenham Festival Day 4 – 3.30pm – Timico Cheltenham Gold Cup Chase (Grade 1)

Cue Card has won at the festival twice before and though he fell in last years Gold Cup, he was travelling very well. The only concern would be his age and the Colin Tizzard trained horse may struggle to overcome some of the younger horses. Stablemate Native River has won the Hennessy, Welsh National and beat Bristol De Mai in the Denman Chase. He looks to be the main danger to Djakadam, who has come up against Outlander on a few occasions recently. Sizing John could be the surprise outsider, having come 2nd to Douvan at last years Arkle and this season, stepping up to 3 miles, having beaten Empire of Dirt.

Here’s our Horse Racing preview for the Cheltenham Festival day 3.

Cheltenham Festival Day 3 – 1.30pm – JLT Novices’ Chase (Grade 1)

Yorkhill has a had an up and down start to chasing but has stamina as seen last year in the Neptune. With Willie Mullins saying the horse could be a potential Gold Cup horse, Yorkhill will take a lot of beating. Top Notch should be his closest rival for Nicky Henderson who has made a great start to chasing and won a Grade 1 on his last start at Sandown as well as being a regular at the festival.

Cheltenham Festival Day 3 – 2.10pm – Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle (Listed)

Tobefair has been raised 63lbs for winning 7 consecutive races in a row and looks as though it may struggle, though does warrant respect. Presenting Percy has also been raised 16lbs but the Irish horse looks to still be improving. Isleofhopendreams should be close for the Mullins/Walsh combination.

Cheltenham Festival Day 3 – – Ryanair Chase (Grade 1)

An exciting race where Un De Sceaux takes on Uxizandre again. The pair fought it out at the Clarence House Chase in January where Un De Sceaux won by 5 lengths. Uxizandre ran very well considering it had not run since 2015, winning this race. Alan Kings horse could reverse the placings with a run under the Geldings belt. Empire of Dirt ran very well last month when behind Sizing John in the Irish Gold Cup last month and has a great chance.

Favourite – Empire of Dirt and Un De Sceaux

Each Way – Empire of Dirt

Cheltenham Festival Day 3 – 3.30pm – Sun Bets Stayers’ Hurdle (Grade 1)

Unowhatimeanharry looks to be the class act in the field. Winning its last 8 races and has had most of this field trailing behind him. Jezki , a Champion Hurdle winner in 2014 looks as though it can go close if reproducing its earlier form. Shaneshill has an each way chance having beaten Snow Falcon in January. Cole Harden won this race in 2015 and the good ground will be a plus.

Cheltenham Festival Day 3 – 4.10pm – Brown Advisory and Merriebelle Stable Plate Handicap Chase ( Grade 3)

Diamond King won the Coral Cup last year and has only a 1lb difference from last year as Gordon Elliott looks to add to his tally at Cheltenham. Starchitect has won off its current mark and last years County Hurdle winner looks a strong prospect to overturn Baron Alco over this longer trip after losing back at Plumpton. Henryville, who will enjoy the ground, could also go close.

Here’s our Horse Racing preview for the Cheltenham Festival day 2.

Cheltenham Festival Day 2 – 1.30pm – Neptune Investment Management Novices’ Hurdle (Grade 1)

Willie Mullins has 4 in the Neptune, Bacardys being the best of the 4 runners. 3^rd in the Champion Bumper last year, Bacardys has been touted to go and win at this longer trip. Harry Fry takes Neon Wolf to the festival and the former points winner has its first run under rules.

Cheltenham Festival Day 2 – 2.10pm – RSA Novices’ Chase (Grade 1)

A tough race to decide upon a winner but Alpha Des Obeaux has a tentative vote. The 7 year old ran a blinder in the World Hurdle last season,finishing 2nd to Thistlecrack and though disappointing last time out, trainer Mouse Morris explained the horse had bled. Nicky Henderson’s Might Bite will also have a chance, running well on its re appearance at Doncaster last time out.

Each Way – 00 Seven OR Our Kaempfer

Cheltenham Festival Day 2 – 2.50pm – Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle (Grade 3)

Gordon Elliot’s Tombstone leads the market as favourite and was 4th in last year’s Supreme Novices’ Hurdle as well as beating Jezki in a Grade 3. River Frost has a 10lb rise in weights though the Alan king trained horse is running very well and looks as though it will fight out the finish with Tombstone. Willie Mullins has 5 in this race and Tin Soldier heads the line with Ruby Walsh aboard.

Cheltenham Festival Day 2 – 3.30pm – Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase (Grade 1)

All eyes will be on Douvan for the Champion Hurdle as the Willie Mullins trained Gelding looks to make it 14 wins in a row. The 7-year-old looks extremely well treated and in the past 2 years at Cheltenham, has won the Arkle and the Supreme Novices’. God’s Own could be the ‘Without the fave’ bet. The 9-year-old has lost 3 this season but has run well in defeat and looks the best of the rest.

Each Way – Sir Valentino OR Fox Norton

Cheltenham Festival Day 2 – 4.10pm – Glenfarclas Chase (Cross Country Chase)

Cantlow didn’t have the best of runs at the venue in January when finishing 2^nd but things didn’t fall right for the 12-year-old. Making the running did not suit and the race was a handicap, conditions should suit Enda Bolger’s Gelding. Gordon Elliot’s Cause of Causes could go well and Sausalito Sunrise, trained by Pat Hobbs, takes on a different test but should be capable of running into the places.

One of the biggest Horse Racing events starts today – The Cheltenham Festival – which means we’ve some time out from football to look the main races of the day from the festival to give our tips and opinions.

13:30 – Cheltenham Festival – Sky Bet Supreme Novices’ Hurdle (Grade 1)

Willie Mullins goes into the Supreme Novice’s Hurdle with 4 runners and the best backed is Melon with Ruby Walsh aboard. Last month’s Betfair Hurdle winner Ballyandy is 2^nd favourite and the Twiston – Davies duo could be where the value lies. Nicky Henderson’s River Wylde could also go well for the most successful Cheltenham trainer, as he looks to fight off Nicholls and Mullins this year.

Each Way – Bunk Off Early OR River Wylde

2.10pm – Cheltenham Festival – Racing Post Arkle Challenge Trophy Novices’ Chase (Grade 1)

Nicky Henderson’s unbeaten Altior is an odds-on favourite and quite rightly so. From the same yard as Sprinter Sacre and Simonsig, the 7-year-old looks un apposable, especially since deciding to not go for the Champion Chase against Douvan. Kim Bailey’s Charbel, who came 2^nd to Altior at Sandown in a Grade 1 previously, along with Willie Mullins’ Black Caviar look to be the best of the rest.

Each Way – Charbel OR Cloudy Dream

2.50pm – Cheltenham Festival – Ultima Handicap Chase (Grade 3)

Singlefarmpayment leads the market for the handicap chase. Unbeaten in 2 races at Cheltenham, the Tom George trained horse is very well weighted compared to Gordon Elliot’s Noble Endeavour who has gone up 11lbs since its win in during Christmas. Holywell and The Druids Nephew look to be able to run into place money.

3:30pm – Cheltenham Festival – Stan James Champion Hurdle Challenge Trophy (Grade 1)

Yanworth has won 7 out of 8 on the hurdles and is the favourite for Alan King. Having beaten The New One at Kempton, Yanworth has the beating of the Twiston Davies Gelding. Nicky Henderson’s Barain Power looks to have a decent chance though has a rise in class. Buveur D’air moves back to hurdles and has beaten Petite Mouchoir as well as coming 3^rd to Altior in the Supreme Novices Hurdle last year and could well be the danger to Yanworth. Whoever the winner, this is sure to be one of the biggest races at today’s Cheltenham Festival.

4:10pm – Cheltenham Festival – OLBG Mare’s Hurdle (Grade 1)

The betting is all focused on the 2 Willie Mullins’ runners, Limini and Vroum Vroum Mag. Both previous Cheltenham Festival winners and could could take a lot of beating though Apples jade beat Vroum Vroum Mag on her return at Fairyhouse. Jer’s Girl will enjoy the trip but will find it hard to beat the Mullins pair.

Betalyst Football Cards – Feedback

I’ve been busy working away on new features for the site and am in the process of hiring some new people to come and work for Betalyst so that I can grow the site faster and keep everything up to date as currently it is only me running the site.

One of the new features I am really excited about is something that I’ve given the working title of ‘Betalyst Football Cards’. These are similar to what you might normally see from Horse Racing sites such as Timeform that provide lots of data for a horse race in an easy to comprehend card, helping you make better betting decisions. I am trying to create the same thing for football!

I have now reached a point where I would like to get your feedback before I start to polish the final product ready to make it available to you all every day.

As you will see it is all very basic to look at right now as I focus on getting the best data presented and will look to improve how it looks once I have all your feedback and potentially add more data to them from your requests.

Here is a quick run through of what they contain:

1st line: Fixture – The first brackets contain the Betalyst pick for the match (1×2) – The second brackets contain the Betalyst supremacy score for the game… Positive numbers favour home team, negative numbers favour away team.
2nd line: Has the kick-off time in GMT
3rd line: Has any previous results for this fixture
4th & 5th lines: Show the Both Teams To Score data for the home and away side. The first number being how many of their last 10 games HAD BTTS and the 2nd number being how many DID NOT HAVE BTTS.
6th & 7th lines: Similar to the both teams to score lines, except showing games that went over or under 2.5 goals
Next you will find both teams last 6 games and the result of the game. It shows that teams goals first.
Finally you have the percentages the Betalyst algorithm has given for the 1×2, over 2.5 goals and BTTS events for that game

As you can see there is a good deal of information on these cards already but I am interested to know what information you might want to see on them that is currently missing?

Thursdays are not a great day for football betting, especially when there is no Europa League…

The pickings are slim today but there are a few teams that I fancy to do well who are currently priced up by the bookies at longer odd that I would expect to find them.

Whilst I like the look of the odds on an AIK win tonight against Hacken I have decided not to run it as an official tip but it could be a good one to put in any accumulators you are running today. Also in Sweden, for those of you that like to lay teams on the exchanges, I think Goteborg might not have the best of evenings away at Sundsvall and they are at odds that are far too short in my opinion.

So, my tips today are two games where I feel the bookies have the wrong prices for the teams to win tonight based on the probability of them winning the games.

First up we have Gent who host Standard Liege in Belgium tonight. The bookies currently have a Gent win available at odds around 1.75, however, the algorithm and myself believe these odds should be a lot closer to the 1.30. This means the bookies are only giving Gent a 57% chance of winning the game whereas we have it at closer to 79%…. This offers us some great value at this price.

sport-recife Next up we have my favourite league for betting Brazilian Serie A and the game between Sport Recife and Ponte Preta. The bookies are giving Sport Recife only a 54% chance of winning this game and odds around 1.85… For me these odds should be closed to 1.20 or a 83% chance of winning this game! This is the standout value pick for the day by a long way! Ponte Preta have lost seven of their last nine games away from home, the majority of which they have lost by two of more goals.
