Manchester United vs Sevilla – Match Preview

Manchester United vs Sevilla
Tuesday 13th March 2018
UEFA Champions League, Old Trafford

Live on BT Sport – Kick-Off: 19:45

Manchester United vs Sevilla : Manchester United hosts Sevilla looking to secure their place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

After a massive win over Liverpool on Saturday, United will be desperate to advance in this competition. That victory over the Reds has given United a five-point cushion over their rivals and moved them nine points clear of fifth place.

United should be assured a top four place with only eight Premier League games to go, given their huge lead. Consequently, Jose Mourinho can focus on securing some silverware, with both the FA Cup and Champions League on offer.

After a 0-0 draw in Spain a fortnight ago, United will need to show more attacking intent to win this tie. Paul Pogba missed their win at the weekend and the Frenchman looks set to be ruled out of this game as well. That could allow for Marcus Rashford to retain his starting spot after his impressive brace against Liverpool. Romelu Lukaku was also one of United’s stand out performers. The Belgian led the line fantastically; harassing and harrying the Liverpool backline at every opportunity.

Sevilla fell to defeat at the weekend against Valencia. The result left them 11 points adrift of the top four. With Champions League football unlikely to return next year, it’s crucial they make the most of their experience this time round. One away goals for Sevilla would put in the driving seat in this tie.Going to Old Trafford is never easy but with the attacking options they have at their disposal, they can cause United problems. Sevilla have won their last two away games in La Liga which should therefore give them some confidence ahead of this fixture.

Manchester United have only lost two home games since Mourinho took charge. Both of those defeats were against Manchester City, meaning they haven’t lost at home in Europe under the Portuguese. The referee for this game is Danny Makkelie. The Dutchman plies his trade in the Eredivisie where has averaged 3.17 cards per game this season. This includes 52 yellow cards across 18 games in addition to three dismissals. As a result, booking points may be a good route to look at in this game.

Whilst United are hot favourites to progress at home, Sevilla won’t make things easy for them. I think they have enough to go through though. Thus, I am going for a narrow victory.

Manchester United vs Sevilla will be televised live in the UK on BT Sport 1 with kick-off at 19:45.

Stoke City vs Manchester City – Match Preview

Stoke City vs Manchester City
Monday 12th March 2018
FA Premier League, BET365 Stadium

Live on Sky Sports – Kick-Off: 20:00

Stoke City vs Manchester City:- Manchester City travel to relegation-threatened Stoke as they look for another three points to move them closer to the Premier League title.

After another victory in midweek against Basel, City face a different test on Monday night. Having safely secured their passage into the Champions League quarter-finals, Pep Guardiola’s side have their eyes firmly set on winning the league. Recent victories over Arsenal(twice) and Chelsea have firmly set Guardiola’s men on their way. Stoke, however, will offer a different test. City struggled in these types of games last year and whilst there has been no repeat this time around, it could be an interesting test for them. Having rotated his side in midweek after a busy schedule, they should be fresh and ready for action. City could welcome back Fernandinho to the fold after injury. Ilkay Gundogan has filled the Brazilian’s role in recent matches and has been impressive, so Guardiola may opt to rest Fernandinho with crucial games ahead.

Stoke go into this game in the bottom three. They currently sit in 19th place but are just one point outside the relegation zone. Whilst games against teams of City’s calibre won’t define their season, every game is now vital. Stoke need to turn the Bet365 Stadium back into a fortress, starting Monday night. With big relegation ‘six-pointers’ to come, building momentum is crucial if they’re to avoid the drop. Stoke have only lost one of their last six games but it’s three points they desperately need. They have started to pick up points on the road, having drawn their last two, however, they need to start winning their home matches. Xherdan Shaqiri has re-captured some form in recent weeks, which could be the Potters best hope of getting out the mire.

Manchester City have won three of their last four games against Stoke, scoring 15 goals in the process. Guardiola’s side put seven past the visitors in the corresponding fixture earlier this campaign and scored four times on their last visit to the Bet365 Stadium. Stoke’s last win against City came at home in 2015, with a Marko Arnautovic brace sealing the victory.

Jonathan Moss will be the referee for Monday night’s clash. The Englishman has the joint second highest number of average booking points when compared to referees who have officiated over 20 games this season. With a score of 38.6, he has brandished 76 yellow cards and two red cards this campaign. Thus, 20+ booking points each team could be a good bet.

Although Stoke are fighting for their lives, I think City will win the game. Paul Lambert’s side have improved recently and another good performance will give them hope for the rest of the season. City, however, are just too strong and therefore I would back them to win.

Stoke City vs Manchester City will be televised live on Sky Sports Football with kick off at 20:05.

Prediction: Stoke City 0-2 Manchester City.

Suggested tips – Stoke City vs Manchester City – (BET365):

  • City to win to nil – (link no longer available).
  • Bet Builder (Equivalent to RequestABet on SkyBet) – Kevin De Bruyne to score Anytime & Over 1.5 Cards in the Match for Stoke – 11/4.

Suggested tips – Stoke City vs Manchester City – (SKYBET):

  • Aguero to score and win – 10/11.
  • Sane and Shaqiri to both score – 17/2.
  • @FootyAccums RequestABets – Sane to Score, Manchester City to Win, 5+ Manchester City Corners and 20+ Stoke Booking Points – 10/3.

Rangers vs Celtic – Match Preview

Rangers vs Celtic
Sunday 11th March, 2018
Scottish Premiership, Ibrox Stadium

Sky Sports – Kick-Off 12:00 GMT

Rangers vs Celtic: Rangers host Celtic in the Old Firm derby as the visitors aim to move nine points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Celtic will have their eyes firmly set on the league title after crashing out of the Europa League last week,. They currently hold a six-point lead at the top of the division, with a game in hand. Whilst Celtic will head into this fixture as hot favourites, a win for Rangers could open the door for them with eight games remaining. Celtic have won just three of their last seven games, in one of Brendan Rodgers’ worst runs at the club.

Defeat against Kilmarnock was only their second in the league this season, after previously surrendering their unbeaten run against Hearts. Nine goals in their last seven goals is quite low for Rodgers’ side, whilst they have also conceded six in the process. Star striker Moussa Dembele is enduring his leanest patch since joining the club. The Frenchman has just four goals in his last 15 appearances although three of those have come in his last two games.

Rangers know that Sunday’s clash is must win if they are to hope of catching the league leaders. Since taking charge, Graeme Murty has lost two of his 15 games in charge. He has yet to taste victory in an Old Firm clash but this could be the perfect opportunity for him to break that duck. Josh Windass has been in impressive form this season, with 16 goals in all competitions. Windass, son of Dean, has scored ten goals in his last eight games, making him Rangers biggest threat going forward. Alongside top scorer Alfredo Morelos, Murty will be hoping his dynamic duo can cause Celtic enough problems to win the game.

Celtic are unbeaten in nine games against Rangers. Rodgers is yet to taste defeat against their arch-rivals and they have already won at Ibrox this season. Rangers last win in the derby came back in 2012 before the club liquidated.

Willie Collum has been appointed as the referee for Sunday’s clash. The Scotsman has an average booking points total of 49.2, the third highest in the league. Collum is one of the most experienced officials in the league, having refereed 18 league games, the joint highest.

Rangers have to win on Sunday. Given Celtic’s recent wobble, I don’t think they will be as dominant as usual. Therefore, I am opting for a draw. Rogers may set his side up to avoid defeat, which would maintain their healthy cushion at the top of the table. Thus, I think BTTS and draw would be my bet at longer odds.

Rangers vs Celtic will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports Football with kick-off at 12:00 GMT.

Prediction: Rangers 1-1 Celtic

Suggested tips – Rangers vs Celtic – (BET365):

  • Correct score, draw 1-1 – (link no longer available).
  • HT/FT – Draw/Draw – (link no longer available).

Suggested tips – Rangers vs Celtic – (SKYBET):

  • BTTS and draw – 7/2.
  • Windass to score and win – 13/2.
  • Dembele and Morelos to both score – 11/2.
  • Griffiths to score first and Celtic to win 2-1 – 20/1.
