Arsenal vs Vorskla Poltava – Match Preview

Arsenal vs Vorskla Poltava
Thursday 20th September 2018, The Emiraes Stadium
UEFA Europa League – Group E Qualifier

BT Sport 2 – 20:00 GMT.

Arsenal vs Vorskla Poltava – Arsenal kick off their Europa League campaign at home to Ukrainian side Vorskla Poltava looking to build on back to back league wins.

The Gunners followed up their 3-2 win at Cardiff with another win on the road; this time 2-1 against Newcastle. Goals from Granit Xhaka and the returning Mesut Ozil made the difference. Speculation has been rife around the German’s future, although he started their last two games. Unai Emery is well documented for his preferred high-press style of play, which doesn’t suit Ozil’s nature. If he wants to become the exception to Emery’s usual rules, he must put in some stand out performances, which he hasn’t done for some time. There is no doubting that he is one of, if not the most, naturally-gifted players they have. However, his body language can sometimes play against him, creating an impression of laziness. If he can produce more goals and assists, then there is no reason why he cannot remain a key player for Arsenal in the long-term future.

Their opponents, Vorskla finished third in the Ukrainian Premier League last year. This year, their form has dropped – they’ve won just four of their opening eight league games. They have, however, won their last three games, so head into this match with some momentum. Vorskla have failed to score in four of their last five away games in this competition, which underlines how big of an underdog they are for this match. Their main goal threat lies in

Bart Vertenten is the referee for this game. The Belgian official plies his trade in the Belgian first division. He has refereed four league games this season, brandishing 12 yellow cards, and one red. Therefore, I would advise a maximum of 40+ total booking points for this match.

Arsenal should win this game comfortably, although Emery is likely to make wholesale changes. The Gunners’ boss will prioritise the league over this competition, certainly until the knockout rounds, but Arsenal should still progress without any problems.

Arsenal vs Vorskla Poltava will be televised live in the UK on BT Sport 3 with kick-off at 20:00 GMT.

Young Boys vs Manchester United – Match Preview

Young Boys vs Manchester United
Wednesday 19th September 2018, Stade de Suisse
UEFA Champions League – Group H Qualifier

BT Sport 2 – 20:00 GMT.

Young Boys vs Manchester United: Manchester United kick off their European campaign when they face Swiss champions Young Boys in the Champions League.

Jose Mourinho’s side will be desperate to build on back to back league victories, with a win on foreign soil. The Red Devils backed up their win at Burnley before the international break with an impressive 2-1 victory over Watford at Vicarage Road. The Hornets went into that match with a 100% record for the campaign, having defeated Tottenham the week before. It was a tough test for United, but one they past unscathed. The win took them up to 8th place, six points behind leaders Chelsea.

Romelu Lukaku grabbed his fourth of the season, building on his brace at Turf Moor. The Belgian looks set for another productive campaign in front of goal, which will be key to United’s aspirations. They have not tasted success in this competition since 2008, and haven’t featured in the semi-final since 2011. For a club of United’s stature, that has to change. Mourinho has already guided Inter Milan and Porto to Champions League titles and he will be hoping to do the same in Manchester.

Young Boys have reached the group stages, or better, on five occasions in the last ten years, proving they are reasonably seasoned in this competition. Their best hopes of a result lay on the shoulders of Guillaume Hoarau, the much-travelled 34-year-old striker. The former PSG man scored 15 times in 20 starts for the club last year as they secured a first league title in 32 years. With the service of ex-Ajax winger Miralem Sulejmani from the left and former Newcastle right-back Kevin Mbabu on the right, Hoarau could prove a real danger to the United goal.

Deniz Aytekin is the referee for this game. The German plies his trade in the Bundesliga – officiating 17 league matches last year. This year, he only appeared once but brandished four yellow cards. Therefore, I would advise a maximum of 50+ total booking points for this game.

Whilst this a potential banana skin for United, they need to ensure they collect three points. Much tougher test await in the form of Valencia and Juventus, so they can ill afford to make any mistakes on Wednesday night.

Young Boys vs Manchester United will be televised live in the UK on BT Sport 2 with kick off at 20:00 GMT.

Prediction: Young Boys 0-2 Manchester United

Suggested Tips – Young Boys vs Manchester United – (BET365)

Suggested Tips – Young Boys vs Manchester United – (SKYBET)

  • Correct Score Group Betting – United to win 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1 – 15/8.
  • First Goalscorer – Lukaku to score first – 7/2.
  • Both Players to score – Sanchez and Lingard to both score – 7/1.

Liverpool vs PSG – Match Preview

Liverpool vs PSG
Tuesday 18th September 2018, Anfield
UEFA Champions League – Group C Qualifier

BT Sport 2 – 20:00 GMT.

Liverpool vs PSG: Liverpool will look to continue their 100% start to the new season with victory over PSG in their first Champions League group games.

Liverpool maintained their fantastic start to the campaign with a 2-1 victory at Wembley against Tottenham. Jurgen Klopp’s side found themselves on the wrong side of a 4-1 scoreline in this fixture last year. That on its own shows the vast improvement Liverpool have made, particularly defensively. Winning away at Tottenham was a huge statement towards their ambitions for the season. Spurs had won 14 out of 20 Premier League fixtures at Wembley, which highlights how strong a result this was. In truth, the Reds should have been out of sight before Erik Lamela pulled a goal back in injury time.

Liverpool haven’t been quite as devastating in attack so far this year, but they have defended tremendously. This is in no part thanks to the signing of Alisson in the summer, who has breathed new life into their back line. Virgil van Dijk also looks worth every single penny of the £75m they splashed last January. The Dutchman and Joe Gomez have formed a strong partnership at the heart of the defence, which is making them a lot tougher to beat. Having reached the final last year, Liverpool know they’re one of the best sides in Europe. They’ve been handed a much tougher group this time around, but they will go into these games full of confidence.

Like the Reds, PSG have one of the most feared front threes in Europe. The Ligue 1 champions have also made a perfect start to their new season, with five wins from as many games. They’ve hit 17 goals in those games, averaging 3.4 per game. With Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Edison Cavani in tandem, Liverpool will have to be on top of their game to keep them at bay. PSG are still yet to get beyond the Champions League quarter-finals, which will be new boss Thomas Tuchel’s main priority for this season.

Cuneyt Cakir is the referee for this game. The Turkish official refereed both Real Madrid’s quarter and semi-final ties last year, whilst also officiating several high-profile group matches. He has averaged 3.99 yellow cards and 0.21 red cards across 139 international games. Therefore, I would advise a maximum of 50+ total points for this match.

With the amount of attacking talent on the field, it’s hard to not envisage a flurry of goals. These two sides both have 100% records, which only adds to the tie. I think this will be a high-scoring draw, although either side may nick it by the odd goal.

Liverpool vs PSG will be televised live in the UK on BT Sport 2 with kick-off at 20:00 GMT.
