Everton vs West Ham United – Match Preview

Everton vs West Ham United

FA Premier League, Goodison Park

Live on Sky Sports Football – Kick-Off: 16:00 GMT

Everton vs West Ham United – both sides desperate for three points after contrasting starts to the season.

Everton remain unbeaten after four matches, with one win and three draws to their name. Marco Silva will be desperate for the Toffees to turn those fine margins in their favour; turning draws into wins. They were held at home last time out by Huddersfield, another game which will feel like two points dropped. Newly-capped Brazilian Richarlison will serve the last of his three-game ban after his red card against Bournemouth, meaning Dominic Calvert-Lewin could be in line for another start. The former Sheffield United graduate grabbed his first of the season against Huddersfield and will be hoping to continue in the same vein against the Hammers.

West Ham are yet to pick up a point this season, after a disastrous start to the season. With eight new signing to bed in, Manuel Pelligrini has struggled. Four defeats from four leaves them bottom of the league, two points from safety. Defensively West Ham have been poor, leaking ten goals, the joint highest in the league. They have also only scored two goals in those four matches, with Marco Arnautovic again their only real source of goals. Their home form has seen them lose to both Bournemouth and Wolves; teams their supporters would expect them to beat. Now the pressure is on for Pelligrini to secure a first win of the season on the road.

Martin Atkinson is the referee for this game. The Englishman has an average booking points total of 27.5, from four games this season. Therefore, I would advise a maximum of 40+ total booking points for this match.

On paper, you would back a comfortable home win, looking at the two side’s positions in the table. However, West Ham are bound to pick up at some point, which makes this game harder to predict. I’m going to go for a narrow Everton win, which should see some goals, due to both side’s poor defensive starts to the season.

Everton vs West Ham United will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports Football with kick off at 16:00 GMT.

Watford vs Manchester United – Match Preview

Watford vs Manchester United

FA Premier League, Vicarage Road

Live on BT Sport 1 – Kick-Off: 17:30 GMT

Watford vs Manchester United – Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United take on high-flying Watford, looking to make ground on their Premier League rivals following an indifferent start to the campaign.

A win against Burnley just before the International Break did Manchester United the world of good, following a turbulent start to the season. That 2-0 win at Turf Moore ended a run of two games without a win, having lost to Brighton and Tottenham over the previous fortnight. Jose Mourinho has already dominated the media discussions this campaign, after disappointing results. There already feels an inevitability about Mourinho’s ‘third season fallout’. The club didn’t back their manager in the transfer market, as they chased a new defender. Those defensive frailties have been laid bare already this year, which has only caused more speculation over his future.

Yet, against Burnley, we saw a more fluid, clinical performance from the Red Devils. One shining light from their season so far has been the resurgence of Luke Shaw. The Englishman has started the season in tremendous form, which earned him an England recall. However, he suffered a worrying neck injury against Spain last Saturday and won’t feature in this game as he serves a mandatory seven-day break following concussion.

Watford have been this year’s surprise package, with four wins from four. Roberto Pereyra has been their star man, with three goals already. Javi Garcia was the bookies’ favourite to be the first manager sacked, however, with a start like this, it’s hard to see him going anywhere. Troy Deeney has lead the line alongside Andre Gray, who looks a lot more settled in his second season at the club. Abdoulaye Doucoure pulls the strings from the centre of the park, with Will Hughes buzzing around opposition midfielders.

Mike Dean is the referee for this game. The Englishman has an average booking points total of 42.5, despite only officiating two Premier League games this season. He showed a red card in one of those games, one of only five referees to do so this campaign. As a result, I would advise a maximum of 50+ total booking points for this match.

This will be a tricky game for United. It’s hard to tell when Watford’s run will end, making them a dangerous opponent. Still, I’m going to hedge my bets with a small United win. Their victory over Burnley could be the tonic that gets their season going.

Watford vs Manchester United will be televised live in the UK on BT Sport 1 with kick off at 17:30.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool – Match Preview

Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool
Saturday 15th
 September 2018
FA Premier League, Wembley Stadium

Live on Sky Sports Football – Kick-Off: 12:30 GMT

Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool: Liverpool take a trip to the capital looking to maintain their 100% start to the season when they face Tottenham at Wembley.

Spurs will be looking to bounce back from their first defeat of the season before the international break, as they lost 2-1 against Watford. Having impressively beaten Manchester United the previous Monday, Mauricio Pochettino will be disappointed to see his side give up a one-goal lead and lose. Overall, it has been a very positive start to the campaign for Spurs. Nine points from four games, that included trips to Old Trafford, St James’ Park and Vicarage Road, is a good return. They currently sit fifth in the table at this very early stage, only one point outside the top four. Lucas Moura will be hoping to build on his early-season form, having picked up the August player of the month award. The Brazilian stole the show with a brace against Manchester United and will be hoping for a similar performance against another top-four rival.

Liverpool currently top the Premier League table, with four wins from as many matches. The Reds have looked a lot more solid defensively this campaign, with Virgil van Dijk and Alisson key to their early-season success. They have only conceded once this campaign, although that came from Alisson’s well-documented gaff against Leicester City. That is the closest any side has come to taking points from Jurgen Klopp’s side, although this will be by far their biggest test to date. Sadio Mane has grabbed four goals in the Reds’ opening four games, a hot streak he will want to continue in this game. Mohamad Salah has two goals already to his name; he is expected to once again fight for the golden boot award with Saturday counterpart Harry Kane.

Michael Oliver is the referee for Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off. The Englishman has an average booking points total of 40, spanning from three top-flight matches. Therefore, I would advise a maximum total of 50+ total booking points on any bets for this match.

This should be a real cracking game. Both teams play attractive, expensive football, which should make for a great spectacle. There were nine goals in the two meetings between these two sides last year. As a result, I’m going to go for a high-scoring draw, with Kane and Salah a good bet to get on the score sheet.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports Football with kick off at 12:30 GMT.
