Atletico Madrid vs Real Madrid – Match Preview

Champions League Semi Final, 2nd Leg, Vincente Calderon, Madrid 7.45pm

Atletico Madrid host their rivals across town, Real Madrid, in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final clash. The Vicente Calderon will see its last ever Champions League match as ‘los Colchoneros’ will be moving into their new stadium next season. The fixture is always a fiercely tested one, with both sets of fans and players wanting to one-up their local rivals and a place in the Champions League final is at stake this time around. The first leg was a very one-sided affair, as Real Madrid cruised home with a 3-0 victory; their Portuguese talisman, Cristiano Ronaldo, scored yet another hattrick. Will Ronaldo add salt to the wounds in the second leg and finish the job he started for Real Madrid?

Skybet Anytime Goalscorer in 90mins – Cristiano Ronaldo – 10/11

The home side will be looking for the performance of their careers to scrape back from the 3-0 aggregate. A comeback would see them write their names in Champions League history in a campaign this year that has already seen a few extraordinary comebacks, Barcelona’s against PSG being the most memorable. Will this Champions League campaign have yet another miracle in store?

Skybet To Qualify – Atletico Madrid – 14/1

With such a large task on their hands, Atletico will be looking to their key men to help them overcome the three-goal deficit. Antione Griezmann has scored five goals and set up two in his 11 Champions League appearances this season, will the Frenchman be on the scoresheet against for his side?

Team news

Diego Simeone is still without Augusto Matias Fernandez, Juanfran, Jose Maria Giminez and Bernabe who are all still side-lined.

It is likely they will start the match with a similar outfit to the first leg, with the likes of Carrasco and Koke looking to provide service for the strikers. Could this see the home-side hit the back of the Real Madrid net more than once?

Skybet To Score – Atletico Madrid to score 2+ Goals in 90 mins – 11/10

Zinedine Zidane has some big names unfit to play; with Gareth Bale, Pepe and Daniel Carvajal all unavailable to play.

However, Real Madrid have strength and depth in their squad. The likes of Nacho and Danilo could all play if Zidane wants to defend the lead gained in the first leg.

Skybet Clean Sheet – Real Madrid to Keep a Clean Sheet – 3/1

Suggested tips:

  • Skybet Price Boost – Karim Benzema to score and Real Madrid to win in 90 mins – 4/1

Horse Racing – UK / Ireland – 10th May 2017 -Chester 4.35pm – Deepbridge Capital Maiden Stakes

Meccabah – 9/4 – 2pt stake

 Notes

Requinto Dawn looks the one to beat after winning first time out in the Brocklesby at Doncaster in April by over 2 lengths and then went on to finish under a length behind Excellently Poised at Musselburgh 2 weeks later under a penalty.

Alluringly for Ballydoyle has a great pedigree, being the daughter of Fastnet Rock. The filly ran well after a 186 day break to win at Tipperary by just under 5 lengths. Aidan O’Brien has his stable in good heart and with Ryan Moore aboard, has a great chance. Enable for John Gosden will be the danger to Alluringly after running well after a 144 day break to finish 3rd at Newbury.

A reverse forecast with Alluringly and Enable could be a worthwhile bet.

Juventus vs Monaco - Match Preview

Juventus vs Monaco – Match Preview

Champions League Semi Final 2nd Leg, Juventus Stadium, Turin 7.45pm

Juventus come into this 2nd leg in Turin with a 2-0 lead and 2 away goals which could prove crucial come the end of the semi final. Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri rested players last weekend as The Old Lady drew 1-1 to Torino ahead of the clash with Monaco, which indicates that Allegri will not underestimate the Red and Whites.

Monaco will have to be at their attacking best in order to overturn the 2 goal deficit and they will look to the likes of Radamel Falcao and highly rated youngster Kylian Mbappe Lottin to provide the goals in Turin.

Team News

Juventus have midfielder Sami Khedira returning to the squad after being suspended for the 1st leg. Claudio Marchisio and Miralem Pjanic will also be vying for a midfield spot. Paulo Dybala is expected back into the team after coming off with cramp in the 1-1 draw with Torino.

Monaco could still be without left back Benjamin Mendy who missed the 1st leg and the weekend win over Nancy. Falcao and Mbappe are expected to lead the line once again with Bakayoko in the midfield.

Players to Watch

Gonzalo Higuain has been in great form for the Italian side, scoring twice in the first leg and coming off the bench to score a last minute equaliser on the weekend. The Argentine forward has 32 goals in all competitons from 49 appearances with 5 goals coming in the Champions League. A goal from the forward would surely seal a place in the Champions League Final in Cardiff.

Higuain will look to add to his 2 away goals against Monaco

Kylian Mbappe Lottin has scored 5 goals in 8 Champions League appearances this season, only failing to hit the net in the 1st leg after scoring 5 from 6 starting appearances. Mbappe will have to be at his absolute best in order to breach the Juventus defence.

Kylian Mbappe Lottin will need to be in top form against The Old Lady

Juventus are unbeaten in the competition this season, winning 8 and drawing 3 games, a record shared with semi finalists Real Madrid. The Old Lady are also unbeaten in their last 18 Champions League home games and have not conceded a goal for 621 minutes, with 6 consecutive clean sheets.

Forward’s Radamel Falcao and Kylian Mbappe Lottin  have netted 10 of the past 16 goals Monaco have scored in the competiton. But Monaco have only won 2 from 11 away Champions League Knockout stages, unable to keep a clean sheet in those games. Leonardo Jardim’s side will need to head into the match tonight with no fear and as they have nothing to lose, are expected to be on the front foot from the start.

Suggested Tips:

  • Skybet Price Boost – Daniel Alves and Kamil Glik both to be carded – 8/1
  • Skybet Price Boost – Kylian Mbappe Lottin to score first – 9/1
  • Skybet Scorecast Boost – Miralem Pjanic to score first and Juventus to win 2-0 – 50/1

Horse-Racing-Preview-Ayr-9th-May-2017-large

Horse Racing Preview – Ayr, Ffos Las & Exeter – 9th May 2017

Today’s horse racing preview comes from Ayr in Scotland to Ffos Las in Wales ending up all the way down in the West Country at Exeter.

A welcoming winner in Silken Dancer at Windsor last night with the odds doubling from the original tissue price to give us an 8/1 BOG winner.

14.30 Ayr – Weddings At Western House Hotel Maiden Stakes

A tough maiden with Alan Swinbanks gelding at the head of the market with Sketch Book Venue. Ran well when runner up at Redcar on debut beaten just one and a quarter lengths, the winner has run well again despite being beaten over a longer trip, any strong support in the market has to be noted.

Archibelle ran well on his turf debut when second to The Last Debutante at Doncaster. The front pair were five lengths clear of the third who has run well again finishing runner up in a 0-70 handicap. The drop back in trip might not suit him as he looked comfortable over the 12f, but as a stayer, dropping back in trip could play hugely in his favour as will get a good toe into the race off Johnson’s Fiendish.

Fiendish has not run too badly, typical Johnson handicapper that will prefer the step back up in trip after a good third over the index at Chelmsford last month, but this looks weaker than what he took on at Bath just over two weeks ago.

Fiendish : 1.5pt win @ 9/2 (BOG)

14.50 Ffos Las – Lonetree Ltd Maiden Hurdle (20f)

Listed flat winner Minotaur represents Jonjo O’Neil who looked a nice recruit when finishing second at Aintree on debut for the yard, the horse beaten back in third Banditry ran reasonably well last weekend at Newmarket behind Frontiersman.

The fourth has won a 0-110 hurdle this year, even the fifth was just denied in a 0-120 hurdle last month, good solid form brought to the table, but the alarm bells were on last time out at Cheltenham when failing to show any of the prospect when beaten easily over today’s index in a Listed hurdle. This is obviously a lot easier and a massive drop in class, will have to prove he stays.

As does A Bold Move who has also been beaten which came over course and distance back in November. Trainer dropped him into Novice company over 16f here at Ffos Las and ran a lot better finishing second to the smart Jenkins.

Questions regarding him around maiden company and looks more of a Novice rank., This does look competitive and it looks like Dan Skelton has picked up a nice looking type here in Coroberee.

His sole run came on the flat when a maiden winner for John Gosden. It was quiet a strong maiden, which has seen two of the runners behind him win twice with the most highly profile winner being Scottish Hurdle winner Forth Bridge who beat a horse I like today at Ayr in Warp Factor.

Coroberee : 1.5pt win @ 5/1 (BOG)

15.00 Ayr – Spring Promotion At Western House Hotel Handicap (0-85)

Irish raider Warp Factor gets the services of Danny Tudhope this afternoon. Ran well around this time last year when second at Hamilton when behind 104 rated Tawdeea.

It took him a few months to get off the mark when eased back into maiden company when winning over 9.6f at Ripon. Two exceptional efforts behind top quality hurdlers at Musselburgh which included Scottish Champion Hurdle winner Forth Bridge.

Has had two runs back this year on the level and looks to be coming to hand slowly again after a good fifth at Limerick last month. 10f is probably stretching his stamina on the flat to the max, but even though Ayr might be tight enough, his best runs have come at Hamilton, however does not look that overly exposed on the flat.

Philip Kirby’s Pullman Brown looks a big danger if building on his fifth at Redcar last month. That was in this company and only went behind by two and a half lengths.

The ex David Marnane trained five-year-old was competing in good handicaps before his move to the new yard, which included a 16K race at Gowran Park where he was given a rating of 93. It’s been twelve starts since his last win eighteen months ago, but it’s only his third run for the Kirby yard and still could be very well handicapped off 75.

Pullman Brown : 1pt each way @ 6/1 (BOG)

19.15 Exeter – Hevitree Brewery Handicap Chase (0-130)

The NAP of the day goes to Philip Hobbs trained Ink Master who was impressive when landing a 15K handicap chase at Chepstow last month. They seem to think he will be better the further he goes and has been stepped up to 19.2f this evening.

He has run the index before over hurdles when rated 113, the third season chaser seems to thrive in the spring as he showed last year when landing a 0-140 chase at Ludlow, he looks a better chaser and should be hard to beat.

I would not mind to have a small dabble on the forecast here with Gowanauthat who notched up a brace of chase wins this time last year and in fact went on a five timer which came to an end when beaten in this company at Worcester.

Competed in this year’s Topham at Aintree, and was just denied when beaten by Opening Batsman at Fontwell in a small field 0-140 chase. He does have to be given the utmost respect with Harry Bannister in the saddle.

Ink Master : 3pt Win @ 6/4 (BOG)

Reverse Forecast : Ink Master / Gowanauthat – 1pt

Chelsea-vs-Middlesbrough-Match-Preview

Chelsea vs Middlesbrough  Match Preview

FA Premier League, Stamford Bridge, London 8pm

Chelsea head in to tonight’s game with less pressure than expected as their main rivals challenging for the league title, Tottenham, were unable to capitalise on playing before the Blues on Friday night when losing to West Ham at the Olympic Stadium. Antonio Conte and his men have a four point lead and can make it seven if they can beat Middlesbrough tonight leaving them to find only three points from the last 3 remaining games of the season to become League champions.

Middlesbrough’s fate could be sealed tonight with a loss at Stamford Bridge, relegating them down to the Championship with David Moyes’ Sunderland. With seven points adrift from safety, a draw or win would keep their league hopes alive until the weekend for the leagues lowest scorers.

Team News

Chelsea will look to capitalise on Tottenham’s loss on Friday and will surely start with their star duo of Diego Costa and Eden Hazard. Willian will be pushing for a start as will Pedro, who has been in good form. Football Writers’ Footballer of the Year, Ngolo Kante could be a doubt with a thigh problem and Brazilian centre back David Luiz looks set to miss out after appearing to sustain a groin injury in the 3-0 away win against Everton.

Middlesbrough will be without Gaston Ramirez as he continues to recover from a pelvic problem. Victor Valdes and Danel Ayala also remain doubts for the game tonight. Grant Leadbitter and Adlene Guedioura have returned to training after injuries and could feature.

Hazard and Costa will be key to Chelsea's title charge

Players to Watch

Both Eden Hazard and Diego Costa have been pivotal in the success of Chelsea’s league campaign and the two attackers can bring the Blues one step closer tonight with a victory against The Boro. Costa needs one more goal to equal his best goalscoring record in the league which stands at 20 in a season, accomplished back in 2014-2015.

Middlesbrough will need to be resilient at the back as they are the lowest scorers in the league and if they can work together and hold Chelsea to a draw, survival for Steve Agnew’s men will be alive for one more week.

Chelsea are hoping to maintain a great home record with a victory tonight as they boast a record of 13 wins from 14 at Stamford Bridge.

Middlesbrough have not won away from home since the second week of the season, losing 5 from their last 6.

Suggested Tips:

  • Skybet Price Boost – Eden Hazard to score first – 4/1
  • Skybet Price Boost – Pedro to score from outside the penalty area – 16/1
  • Skybet Scorecast Boost – Diego Costa to score first and Chelsea to win 2-0 – 16/1
  • Skybet Scorecast Boost (Double Chance) – Stewart Downing to score first and either Middlesbrough to win 2-1 or Draw 1-1 – 155/1
  • Skybet Featured RequestAbet – Hazard to score and de Roon & Clayton to be carded – 16/1
  • Skybet Featured RequestAbet – Hazard to score from outside the penalty area and Cahill to score a header – 100/1
  • Skybet RequestAbet Upto 10/1 – Chelsea to win by 3+ goals, 7+ Chelsea Corners and 20+ Middlesbrough booking pts – 4/1
  • Skybet RequestAbet Upto 10/1 – Pedro to score, Chelsea to win, over 2.5 goals and Chambers to be carded – 8/1
  • Skybet RequestAbet 11/1 to 28/1 – Costa & Hazard to score and Clayton & Fabio to be carded – 25/1
  • Skybet RequestAbet 33/1 to 66/1 – Hazard to score, BTTS and Chambers & Costa to be carded – 33/1
  • Skybet RequestAbet 80/1 and above – Costa & Hazard to score and Cahill, de Roon, Clayton & Barragan to be carded – 400/1

Notes

Alnaas debuted at Newmarket for John Gosden when finishing 2nd to Princess de Lune over 7f. The two were clear from the rest of the field and the run was good behind a promising Roger Charlton filly. Alnaas will progress and this race looks ideal for John Gosden’s filly to get off the mark. William Haggas’s Isabels On It has run three times finishing third on her last appearance at Newmarket and could well be the danger as well as Simon Crisford’s Karijini who makes her debut today.

Horse-Racing-Preview-Ayr-8th-May-2017-large

Horse Racing Preview – Ayr & Windsor – 8th May 2017

Today’s horse racing preview features two meetings, from Ayr and Windsor. What a tough Guineas weekend, not a winner which was very disappointing to say the least. Ballydoyle pulled the wool over our eyes in the 1000gns when Winter improved incredibly from his Irish defeat by stablemate Hydrangea.

We turn ourselves back to mid-week racing, but reflect that we have the Dante meeting at York being the highlight of the week, I will be attending the first day on the Wednesday which stages the Musidora Stakes.

Today’s selections come from Ayr and the night meeting at Windsor where I have a NAP running in the finale on the card.

16.30 Ayr – Book Your Celebration At Western House Hotel Handicap (0-95)

David O’Meara and Danny Tudhope team up here with a smart looking prospect in Karbetation who won his sole run as a three-year-old when hacking up by five lengths at Thirsk over 8f.

Three winners have come out of the race since, but nothing to really write home about, the second and third have been beaten off marks of 83 & 55, I do have concerns on this quicker ground being by Dream Ahead. With the yard not firing home the winners at present just 3-65 over the past two weeks is a concern.

Quite a few of these looked really exposed even from last year’s form, on that note I have swung towards a yard that have been winning all winter and spring around both codes in Iain Jardines Hibou who gets the services of Tom Eaves.

He looks ground dependable, despite two runs here at Ayr last year when finishing seventh on both occasions which included behind Nicholas T whom he gives lumps of weight to from that run, however those runs came on heavy and soft ground.

The ex Charlie Appleby inmate who won just a maiden when at the yard has adapted well on his past few runs, winner at Redcar over 10f and failed well when third at York on his last season’s run. I do have some reservations over the trip, even so if he is on the pace with the ground now coming up on the fast side I would expect him on the premises.

Hibou : 1pt each way @ 6/1 (BOG)

19.20 Windsor – Royal Run Loyalty Card Maiden Stakes (10f)

Unusual to not seeing a Richard Hannon debutante in these type of races, however Charlie Appleby has an interesting newcomer in Silken Dancer. With two Royal Ascot entries (King Edward V11 & Queen Vase) he must be well thought of.

By Dubawi out of the dam Silkwood, the Godolphin runner here is well related to a few middle distance winners, such as Ghostflower and Next Life. This looks a perfect index to take on debut and feel he will be hard to beat if ready to go.

Godolphins other entry Sea Skimmer representing Saeed Bin Suroor looks the main danger to the selection. With the benefit of a run under his belt when fifth on debut at Newbury, the runner up International Law franked the form at Bath at the bank holiday weekend. With a derby entry, they are confident enough he get the step up in trip.

Silken Dancer : 1.5pt win @ 4/1 (BOG)

20.20 Windsor  – Irish Night On 12th June Handicap (0-80)

The NAP comes here in Richard Hannon’s only runner on the Windsor course in Hermann. His only turf run came in debut when finishing third over 10.1f at Doncaster, he quickly progressed when winning on the all-weather at Wolverhampton, the runner up Just For You went on to win next time out.

The trip probably saw him out when coming in way down the field at Lingfield over 12 1f, dropping down to 11.4f this evening should see him land this after his decent second back in January.

Any danger to the NAP would be Jack Of Diamonds who came second over course and distance two weeks ago when just defeated by a neck, has to be respected from Roger Teals yard.

Hermann : 4pt win @ 5/2 (BOG)

Arsenal v Manchester United – Match Preview
FA Premier League, Emirates Stadium, London 4pm

Manchester United travel to The Emirates as the climax of the season brings two historic rivals competing to earn a place in The Champions League.

To put it bluntly – this is a must-win for Arsenal. After Sunday’s 2-0 defeat to arch-rivals Tottenham The Gunners have lost 5 of their last 6 away matches and find themselves in a desperate league situation. 6th place, 6 points away from Manchester City in fourth means it is likely the frailties of Arsene Wenger’s team will be punished and consequently Arsenal will miss out on Europe’s elite competition for the first time during the Frenchman’s reign.

Arsenal’s season has both been shockingly poor yet simultaneously predictable. Naivety away from home in defeats to teams like West Brom and Crystal Palace alongside the customary Champions League last 16 at the hands of Bayern Munich has put even more pressure on manager Arsene Wenger as fan protests intensify and the desire for change grows stronger.

Salvation could once again be in the hands of an FA Cup triumph; as Arsenal overcame Manchester City 2-1 in the semis to reach their 3rd FA Cup final in 4 years. The lucrative 4th place isn’t out of reach either, as The Gunners have a game in hand. Anything other than victory over fellow Champions League chasers Manchester United will all but seal their fate.

As Jose Mourinho has made sure everyone knows; Manchester United come into this match with plenty of injuries during a period of extreme fixture congestion.

Thursday’s 1-0 victory away to Celta Vigo in the Europa League semi-final puts The Red Devils in a strong position to reach the final – win the competition and Mourinho’s men can attain Champions League status without the need to finish 4th.

As a consequence, the Portuguese manager has hinted at wholesale changes to his side’s line-up against Arsenal but still intimates the desire to win. Against long-time adversary Arsene Wenger that is hardly surprising.

United are on an unprecedented unbeaten league run of 25 matches spanning back all the way to October in the 4-0 humiliation at the hands of Antonio Conte’s Chelsea.
Despite this; United have been plagued by a series of draws – an astounding 14 in the league in total – which has hindered their Champions League place hopes and completely decimated any title ambitions. United’s 5th place position a point behind neighbours City suggests that victory is necessary to not allow the blue of Manchester to pull away.

The long-term rivalry between Wenger and Mourinho and the fact that the Frenchman has never beaten his Portuguese counterpart in the Premier League only adds to the importance of this clash.

Team News
Jose Mourinho has strongly hinted that he will rest the players that have featured more prominently during the fixture congestion. This means player such as Marcus Rashford, Eric Bailly, Ander Herrera, Ashley Young and Jesse Lingard are suspect to being rested. However the Portuguese manager confirmed David De Gea will regain his starting position from Romero. Long term injuries have come at the worst time for Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Luke Shaw and Marcos Rojo who are all ruled out. Marouane Fellaini is still completing his three-match domestic ban so will be unavailable as well. The good news is that Chris Smalling came off the bench on Thursday and Phil Jones was in the matchday squad so both are back in contention.

For Arsenal the team news is less extensive; Granit Xhaka will miss out with an ankle injury but Skhodran Mustafi, Lucas Perez and David Ospina could all pass late fitness tests to feature.

Alexis Sanchez key to Arsenal's Champions League hopes

Alexis Sanchez key to Arsenal’s Champions League hopes Photo Credit: skysports.com

Players to Watch
Alexis Sanchez has the capability to single-handedly win matches on his day; proving so in this fixture last year helping a rampant Arsenal take a 3-0 lead within 20 minutes. The Chilean forward currently has 19 goals and is just a single strike away from his best ever tally in a season (which is also 19 for Barcelona in 2013/14) and could become just the 8th player to reach 50 Premier League goals for the Gunners with a brace on Sunday (has 48 at present). He is a dynamic forward who provides a constant threat to the opposition with his movement and ability to shoot from any distance or angle. Enabling Sanchez could be key to victory for Wenger’s men.

Manchester United must do everything to keep the Spanish keeper

David De Gea is the only player in history to win three consecutive Manchester United Player of the Season awards; such as his importance to the team. The Spanish international has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid but it is vital United keep him for the long term. Arguably the best shot stopper in the world; De Gea has been the difference on numerous occasions between a Red Devils victory or not and if Arsenal’s attack are in full flow he will need to be at this best for a positive result.
