Horse Racing Preview - Doncaster - 27th October 2017

Today’s horse racing preview comes from sunny Scotland at Hamilton and in Ireland at Fairyhouse.

An exciting month ahead with the next classics just around the corner at Epsom where I really do like the looks of Eminent to win the Derby, a race I will be covering fully along with the Oaks on Friday.

14.30 Hamilton – Dick Birkett Memorial Handicap  (0-75) (5f)

Last season I followed Danny Tudhope away from his main stable of O’Meara’s with much success, with his trainer having a runner in the race with Noah Amor, he will ride First Rate instead for trainer Marjorie Fife.

The four year old has not managed to cut it with trainers such as Roger Varian in his short career, from looking over progenies of Kyllachy I feel that improvement with age, maybe a women’s touch is more required here, eye catching booking of Tudhope.

His boss has Noah Amor declared, an ex Richard Fahey in-mate who’s main success came around selling company. Was bought out of a seller and makes debut for the the new yard this afternoon.

I would not think there is much movement around his current mark of 69, escapes a penalty from his second at Pontefract in a 0-70 Handicap, probably one to beat on paper.

First Rate : 1pt each way @ 12/1 (BOG)

15.00 Hamilton – DM Hall Handicap (0-70) (6f)

Again I am sticking with Marjorie Fife and Danny Tudhope on Control Centre. The boss doesn’t have a declaration in this so could be his best chance of an out right winner.

He won a seller last autumn on the all weather when trained by Richard Hannon. Was just beaten on his return to Wolverhampton beaten a neck when giving 10lb to the winner. Marjorie Fife could have picked up a couple of potentially nice handicappers to play around with this season.

Any dangers could be Keith Dagliesh’s Reckless Serenade, who finished a good fifth over course and distance as a juvenile and should be one to fear from a yard going reasonably well.

Control Centre : 1pt EW @ 13/2 (BOG)

17.45 Fairyhouse – Foran Equine Irish European Breeders Fund Auction Maiden (6f)

Jessica Harrington’s Whitefountainfairy found all sorts on debut at the Curragh when finishing mid field. The daughter of Casamento should be learning from that experience, I would expect her to be a lot closer this afternoon.

Main danger looks to be Gordon Elliott’s Only William who is the son of Kyllachy, however he will be one to come on.

Whitefountainfairy : 1pt EW @ 6/1 (BOG)

From the three selections, I am going to put them forward as an each way patent, with an each way lucky 15 on a horse I have been given to back on debut from the Willie Haggas’s yard Green Fortune who runs in the 2.10 Lingfield, this is a prep run I’ve been told for Royal Ascot, trading around 9/2.

Best of luck today

Daily Horse Racing Pro Tips - 3rd October 2017

Our horse racing preview today comes from three meetings, which come from Leicester, Lingfield and Wolverhampton.

Ballydoyle’s Winter impressed me on Sunday, she has definitely improved since Newmarket, she will be very hard to best in the Coronation at Ascot and is currently trading around evens.

13.50 Leicester – British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes (6f)

John Gosden trained Westerland will be a short price to lose his maiden tag this afternoon. The son of Frankel finished second on debut at Newbury on soft ground. I am not really in his corner here, the 6f trip is far too short for a progeny that has Zafonic genes, will be better once stepping up to 7f.

The selection also has Zafonic genes, but through his sire and sprinter Declaration of War. Match Maker represents Simon Crisford, this lovely bred juvenile pedigree is owned by Michael Tabor’s wife and with Ryan Moore booked he looks the one to beat in this first time up.

Match Maker : 2pts win @ 10/3 (BOG)

16.10 Lingfield – Bet365 Handicap (0-80) (5f)

Brother Tiger won with plenty in hand over course and distance just over three weeks ago. It’s a race I feel will be worth following throughout the season. The runner up Highly Sprung has not really done the form any good, the third was beaten favourite at Bath recently.

Dangers look to come from Menelik who has found a new lease of life this year winning in a 0-60 and 0-70 on the all weather right here at Lingfield, looked out classed in a 12k handicap at Naas recently.

Brother Tiger : 3pt win @ 2/1 (BOG)

19.10 Wolverhampton – University of Wolverhampton Racing Maiden Stakes (7.1f)

Roger Charlton’s horses are in good heart with a solid win in Ireland over the weekend with Group winner Decorated Knight. The yard saddle a new comer her in Blazed, the son of Dark Angel who won’t mind a bit of cut on debut, related to Soviet Star we should see hopefully a positive run.

Firstly though they all have to get pass John Gosdens Dhalam who ran well on debut on the all weather at Kempton, but I am not convinced his turf debut at Newbury was any improvement, drops back to 7f for the first time, purely on two runs he has to be at the head of the market, but again for the second time today I am taking on two of Gosdens hotpots.

Blazed : 1pt each way @ 8/1 (BOG)

Daily Horse Racing Pro Tips - 27th July 2017

Today’s horse racing preview comes from Windsor and Leicester with one selection from each meeting, which includes a confident Nap.

13.45 Windsor – Royal Bun Loyalty Card Novice Auction Stakes (6.1f)
I am expecting this to go to Mark Johnston’s Rampant Lion in the first on the card. The son of Bahamian Bounty has a nice pedigree through Elnadim, James Doyle takes the ride first time up.
Danger looks to come from Johnson-Houghtons nicely bred Manduro colt Optimum Time. Slight concern could be the firm conditions, however could be there abouts from a yard that can get one ready despite not reknown for juveniles.
Rampant Lion : 2pt Win @ SP (BOG)
17.00 Leicester – totepoolliveinfo.com Fillies Handicap (0-85)
Nap of the afternoon comes in Kristin Stubbs Amber Mystique who finished in front of Moi Aussie back in March on the all weather. Moi Aussie has since franked that form twice on turf.
Indigo Princess will be the main danger to the selection after her recent win at Nottingham in a 0-60 handicap, but dropping back in trip could see her out, over the fact the selection is also coming back to 7f, however has shown a better attitude.
Amber Mystique : 2pt win @ SP (BOG)

Blackpool vs Exeter City - Match Preview

Skybet League two Playoff Final, Wembley, London 3pm

Blackpool and Exeter will compete at Wembley in the final match of the League Two season for a place in England’s third tier.

The semi-finals could not have been more exciting; both ties finishing 6-5 on aggregate in enthralling contests to reach the final.
The Grecians made it to Wembley courtesy of Jack Stacey’s dramatic 95th minute winner to break Carlisle hearts.
Astoundingly, Blackpool also benefitted from a remarkable 95th minute injury time winner – the ball unfortunately rebounding off Luton goalkeeper Stuart Moore and into the net to send Blackpool fans into raptures.

The Tangerines have had an incredibly difficult past couple of seasons; amidst experiencing various off-field problems they have suffered consecutive relegations to find themselves in England’s fourth tier. Only 5000 tickets have been sold and the boycotts organised to protest against Oyston’s ownership of the club looks set to continue to Wembley. In contrast, Exeter have sold over three times as many tickets for the massive clash.
Manager Gary Bowyer has, however, instilled some stability at Bloomfield Road and the club are attempting to bounce straight back into League One at the first time of asking.

Exeter themselves are trying to ply their trade in League One for the first time since 2013 and English football’s current second longest serving manager Paul Tisdale will be confident his side can find glory.

Team News
Gary Bowyer has a full squad to choose from for the big occasion, with every player available for Blackpool after training all week.

Exeter, however, still have Matt Jay and Robbie Simpson unavailable – but have no new injury concerns so Tisdale could name an unchanged side from the semi-final victory over Carlisle.

Player to Watch
Exeter forward Ollie Watkins has received numerous plaudits this season; not least after being awarded of the English Football League Young Player of the Year. The 21-year-old has plundered 15 goals in the league this season; notably his brace against Carlisle to send The Grecians to Wembley. Watkins also has 7 assists, and is noted for his dribbling ability and lightning pace and he could well be the difference in attaining promotion.

Summary
Just two points separated the two teams after the entirety of the league season and as such the match is too tight to call beforehand.

However, Blackpool have beaten Exeter in 5 of the last 8 meetings between the two sides and are undefeated against The Seasiders are undefeated in this campaign’s encounters.
Blackpool are seeking success in their record-equalling 7th appearance at Wembley (Crystal Palace are the only other side who can match that total) and will be hoping such experience will be invaluable.

Additionally, Exeter have only achieved a solitary clean sheet in their last 19 outings so this might well be an attacking affair.

Suggested Tips

  • Skybet Price Boost – Ollie Watkins to score and Exeter to win in 90 mins – 4/1
  • Skybet Price Boost – Exeter to win 3-1 – 22/1
  • Skybet RequestAbet Up to 10/1 – BTTS, over 2.5 goals, Under 12 match corners and 50+ match booking pts – 7/1
  • Skybet RequestAbet Up to 10/1 – Cullen and Watkins to score – 7/1
  • Skybet RequestAbet 11/1 to 28/1 – Cullen & Delfouneso to score, Blackpool to win and over 2.5 goals – 14/1
  • Skybet RequestAbet 11/1 to 28/1 – Watkins to score, Exeter to win and Jake Taylor & Aldred to be carded – 28/1
  • Skybet RequestAbet 33/1 to 66/1 – BTTS and Potts, Danns & Aldred to be carded – 40/1
  • Skybet RequestAbet 33/1 to 66/1 – Watkins & Harley to score, Exeter to win and Potts to be carded – 66/1
  • Skybet RequestAbet 80/1 and Above – Blackpool to win, BTTS and Aldred, Danns & Jake Taylor to be carded – 80/1
  • Skybet RequestAbet 80/1 and Above – Cullen & Wheeler to score, 7+ match corners and Colin Daniel, Aldred, Jake Taylor & Woodman to be carded – 750/1

Today’s horse racing preview comes from three meetings, The Curragh, Fontwell and Kelso. Again not the greatest of days on the winners front, a note for any of you that backed Kachy today, he’s worth keeping on the right side of if tackling 6f this season, however the blog was in a healthy profit with Copper Knight when advised at 12/1, pulled of a monster gamble to win at 5/1fav.

14.20 Curragh – Tattersall’s Gold Cup (Group 1) (10.5f)

Success Days and Deauville are at present fighting for favouritism, the former trained by Ken Condon comes into this off a neck defeat to Air Pilot in the Group 3 Alleged Stakes at Naas.

Last year’s Royal Whip Stakes winner finished third in this last year, even though a potentially nice colt, I just feel he’s just short of top quality around Group 1 level. Deauville on the other hand won the Group 3 Huxley Stakes just from Poets Word at Chester on his second run of the new campaign.

The Belmont Derby winner might just find 10.5f on the short side here, looks a solid stayer the way he won around Chester, claims if handling track.

One that just seems to get better and better and never goes down without a fight is british trainer Roger Charlton’s Decorated Knight. Winner of the Derby Winter trial was correctly placed by the trainer when flown to Meydan when taking the Group 1 Jebel Hatta by a head from Folkswood.

Finished a head in front of Deauville in the Group 1 Dubai Turf, in third was Ribchester who dominated the Group 1 Lockinge recently. Roger Charlton won this twice with Al Kazeem and looks to have a big claim on the prize again.

Decorated Knight : 2pt each way @ 11/2 (BOG)

14.50 Curragh  – Airlie Stud Gallinule Stakes (Group 3) (10f)

I’m finding it impossible trying to turnover Jessica Harrington’s Red Label in this. The ex Luca Cumani in-mate won over a mile on the all weather in good style and was quickly shipped to different surroundings after an interesting development which saw many top horses leave the Cumani yard which included Postponed.

First run for the yard came at Gowran Park when just holding on over 9.4f, he looks the sort that will relish 10f and beyond. Which no big engagements planned he could put himself amongst middle distance races on offer this season.

Homesman and Vociferous Marina will have to step up I think to beat the selection, especially the latter who looked very one paced at York recently. Pending on is on pacemaking duties, interested in Utah for a place run with Seamus Heffernan in the plate.

Won his maiden here at The Curragh over a mile, has been competing over shorter trips, steps into a more likely index over 10f.

Red Label : 3pt win @ 9/4 (BOG)

15.25 Curragh – Tattersall’s Irish 1000gns (Group 1) (8f)

Again Ballydoyle are diverting to pacemaker tactics with declaring 50% of the entire field. Even though they have Newmarket’s conqueror Winter as the hotpot in the race, can she do what Churchill did and land both Guineas?

Another O’Brien runner is Hydrangea who pulled far too hard at Newmarket ending up just tenth. She is better then that, she bested Rahana and Winter in this trial, with good Curragh form of 122 I expect her to be ridden with a little more tight reign, she has the ability.

Winter was very impressive when winning at Newmarket, but she got a trouble free run and took full advantage of landing the run. I feel she was very flattered by that win, she wanst dry ground to put her best foot forward, but I take her on.

Marc Halfords Rehana will try to reverse her run with Hydrangea and Winter, the fact she was left at home to compete here over Newmarket speaks strong volumes, she is a big player here.

Rehana : 2pts each way @ 6/1 (BOG)

15.50 Kelso – Ayton Castle Handicap Chase (0-125) (20.1f)

Irish raider here for me looks the one to beat from what is up against him this afternoon. Anseanachai Cliste had to fight when landing the Ulster National over 26.5f. The handicapper obviously has not assessed that run correctly, just a 7lb penalty and getting into this off 114 he should win this well.

Sweet Belle could be the main danger under Brian Hughes, a good second in a 0-120 chase at Hexham just over three weeks ago, will have to improve again, each way bet looks imminent.

Anseanachai Cliste : 5pt Win @ 9/4 (BOG) NAP

16.05 Fontwell – H.O.T.S.R Let’s Bet Tuberous Sclerosis Handicap Hurdle (0-105) (17.6f)

Midnight Jitterbug probably won’t get a better chance of 103 to land a race like this. The Noel Williams five year old finished a close third off this mark in a similar contest at Kempton two weeks ago under today’s pilot Ian Popham.

Main dangers look to come from Zante of Gary Moore’s who is probably wanting a step up in trip now on current performances.

Midnight Jitterbug : 2pt Win @ 4/1 (BOG)

Arsenal vs Chelsea - Match Preview

FA Cup Final, Wembley, London 5.30pm

Arsenal and Chelsea battle for England’s oldest trophy as Antonio Conte seeks a brilliant league and cup double in what could be Arsene Wenger’s last match.

The FA Cup may not still possess the same aura as days gone by but still provides an excellent spectacle of football at England’s greatest stage – rarely do teams and managers possess the opportunity to etch themselves into English footballing history with victory and this competition provides just that.

The culmination of the English season sees two sides and two managers desperate for victory for completely contrasting reasons.

The Gunners have not won any other major competition bar the FA Cup since the ‘Invincibles’ team of 2004, but are seeking a third FA Cup title in 4 years. This lack of success has seen the discontent amongst Arsenal fans grow and grow and that unhappiness has reached bubbling point – protests demanding change throughout the season against Wenger and the board are illustrated consistently.
This year feels like it may well be Wenger’s last in charge, so the Frenchman would love to solidify his legacy as the most successful manager in FA Cup history and claim a 7th crown.
A 2-1 victory after extra time against Manchester City in the semi-final proves Arsenal can rise to the occasion and the North-London side will undoubtedly believe they can win.

Chelsea’s season is in stark contrast to their London counterparts; after claiming a fifth Premier League title in the past couple of weeks Antonio Conte seeks to become only the second manager to win a league and cup double in his first season and lead Chelsea to become only the third team to win more than one double – after Manchester United and their obstacles to do so Arsenal.

The Blues’ season really began after being outclassed 3-0 at the Emirates in late September – this prompted a change in formation to the now famed 3-4-2-1 and began a dominating sequence of 13 consecutive wins in the Premier League. Chelsea have since never looked back and bar a late resurgence from Arsenal’s rivals Tottenham Hotspurs scarcely looked in danger of claiming a second Premier League title in three years.

Both sides come into the match in excellent form, Arsenal winning their last 5, and 8 of their last 9 since Wenger’s switch to 3 at the back, and Chelsea romping to the title after 6 straight wins to finish the campaign.
Arsenal finished 5th and subsequently missed out on Champions League football, so an FA Cup victory is all Wenger’s men have left to play for to salvage an otherwise incredibly disappointing season. Such motivation should be looked at as dangerous.

Team News
A theme of Chelsea’s season has been the full squad at Antonio Conte’s disposal. Saturday will be the same as Chelsea hope their consistency in shape and personnel carries them over the line to a fantastic double.

Arsenal, on the other hand, do indeed have serious injury worries – particularly in central defence. Captain and key defender Laurent Koscielny received a straight red card for a rash challenge against Everton so suspension prevents him from leading his side out at Wembley. Gabriel Paulista is still ruled out whilst Shkodran Mustafi remains a doubt providing a real headache for Arsene Wenger should he continue to use his 3 at the back system. Often unused this season; Per Mertersacker is set to play. Kieran Gibbs is also a doubt but other fitness concerns Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Alexis Sanchez should be cleared to play.

Eden Hazard is amongst the elite players in the world

Eden Hazard is amongst the elite players in the world Photo Credit: skysports.com

Players to Watch
Eden Hazard has been instrumental in Chelsea’s remarkable season. The diminutive winger has dazzled under Conte and after last season’s blip, has been the usual irrepressible force we are accustomed to. The Belgian international has scored 17 goals in all competitions this season; including a great strike to regain the lead in the FA Cup semi-final against Spurs. Hazard is truly one of the world’s elite players and has the capability to win matches single-handedly – Chelsea will be hoping that he does just that.

Alexis Sanchez scored 29 and assisted 18 goals this season

Alexis Sanchez scored 29 and assisted 18 goals this season Photo Credit: skysports.com

Alexis Sanchez is the definition of talisman for Arsenal. Despite Arsenal’s wholly underwhelming campaign, the Chilean has flourished with a remarkable best-ever return of 29 goals and 18 assists in all competitions – the highest combined total of any Premier League player. The ex-Barcelona forward’s dynamism and creativity assures constant menace and there is no doubt whatsoever that Sanchez has the confidence to produce a moment of magic at any given moment. The attacking talent on display in this match is vast but it would be hard to back against Sanchez’s light shining brightest.

Suggested Tips:

  • Skybet Price Boost – Diego Costa and Alexis Sanchez both to score in 90 mins – 9/1
  • Skybet Price Boost – Arsenal to win 2-1 – 16/1
  • Skybet Scorecast Boost – Marcos Alonso to score first and Chelsea to win 2-1 – 150/1
  • Skybet Scorecast Boost (Double Chance) – Aaron Ramsey to score first and either Arsenal to win 2-0 or Arsenal to win 3-1 – 200/1
  • Skybet RequestAbet Up to 10/1 – Chelsea to win and Xhaka to be carded – 9/4
  • Skybet RequestAbet Up to 10/1 – Chelsea to win, over 2.5 goals and 12+ match corners – 5/1
  • Skybet RequestAbet 11/1 to 28/1 – Costa to score, BTTS, 4+ corners each team, Costa to be carded and 20+ booking pts each team – 16/1
  • Skybet RequestAbet 11/1 to 28/1 – BTTS and Kante, Xhaka & Costa to be carded – 25/1
  • Skybet RequestAbet 33/1 to 66/1 – Costa & Sanchez to score and Kante & Xhaka to be carded – 33/1

  • Skybet RequestAbet 80/1 and Above –  Hazard to score, Draw, Xhaka to be carded (all 90 mins) and Arsenal to win in Extra Time – 125/1
