Borussia Dortmund vs Schalke
Saturday 16th May 2020
Bundesliga – Signal Iduna Park

Live on BT Sport 1 – Kick-off: 14:30 BST

The Bundesliga returns this weekend after more than a two-month absence and kicks off with the Revierderby as Borussia Dortmund host Schalke.

All eyes will be on the Bundesliga this weekend for its resumption. The German top-flight is the first major league to resume amid the Coronavirus crisis. All matches will be played behind closed doors, and only essential staff and officials will be present at all matches.

After such a lengthy stoppage, momentum is certainly there for the taking as well as the bragging rights of a derby win.

After the prolonged break, both sides form prior to the stoppage almost takes a backseat – but it’s still worth considering.

Lucien Favre’s Dortmund side occupy 2nd place in the league, and trail Bayern Munich by five points. Dortmund had won their last four consecutive affairs in the league, losing once in their last eight.

David Wagner’s side meanwhile are in a battle to secure European football for next season. Schalke are in 6th, but trail Leverkusen in 5th by ten points. Prior to the Bundesliga’s stoppage, Schalke’s form was abysmal, and they had only registered one league win since Christmas.

October’s meeting between these two sides resulted in a 0-0 draw. Schalke have the slightly better record and have won two of the last five meetings, Dortmund on the other hand have won only one of the last five against Schalke in this fixture.

Erling Haaland has more than hit the ground running since his arrival in Germany and has scored twelve goals in his eleven matches for Dortmund. The 19-year old is priced at 13/5 to score first on SkyBet.

Prediction: Borussia Dortmund 3-1 Schalke

Denmark vs Australia
Thursday 21st June 2018
FIFA World Cup 2018, Group C, Samara Arena, Samara

Live on ITV 1 – Kick-Off: 13:00

Denmark vs Australia – the Australians require a victory to give themselves any chance of making the last 16 against Denmark who can secure qualification with a win themselves.

The Socceroos were embroiled in VAR controversy during their narrow 2-1 loss against France in their first game. A penalty was given for France’s opener that was subject to a contentious VAR decision.

An equalising Mile Jedinak penalty wasn’t enough as Paul Pogba surged forward to claim a French winner. Australia put in a respectable performance, showing they have enough to compete despite what people thought before the tournament started. Huddersfield’s Aaron Mooy was particularly impressive, his energy and incisive passing a real positive throughout.

Only three points will be adequate for Bert van Marwijk’s team. The Dutch coach has experience and pedigree at the World Cup, taking his home nation to the Final in 2010.

However, this is a totally different challenge. The Socceroos have only ever qualified from the group stage once, in 2006, and not fancied to do so here. There is no reason why Australia cannot go out and beat Denmark though. Australia to win 1-0 is 11/1 with SkyBet. An outside shot could be striker Andrew Nabbort to score first and Australia win 2-0 or 2-1, at 66/1.

The three points already separating the two sides is a large mountain to climb. Denmark beat Peru 1-0 thanks to Yussef Poulsen’s goal but were not the better side. Peru would often blitz forward but lacked the ingeuinity in the final third to create clear-cut opportunities. Christian Eriksen typically provided a moment of quality, sliding a neat pass into Poulsen who slotted past the keeper.

Poulsen to score the game’s only goal in a repeat result in this one is 40/1 with SkyBet. Whilst Eriksen to turn up and net from outside the box is 9/2. The Spurs man has an incredible return of 16 goals in his last 18 international games.

With France left to play, Age Hareide’s men know that a positive result is crucial too. A win, and France getting a draw or better against Peru would secure Denmark’s place in the last 16.

The Danish Dynamite are not expected to replicate the momentous 1992 European Championship winning side. However, there is a bunch of talented and dedicated players in the Denmark ranks that could provide a real shock. Especially with a rock-solid defence.

Denmark vs Australia will be televised live in the UK on ITV 1 with kick-off at 13:00 GMT.

Prediction – Denmark 2-1 Australia

Suggested Tips –  Denmark vs Australia – (BET365):

  • Denmark to win 2-1 –  (link no longer available).

Suggested Tips –  Denmark vs Australia – (SKYBET):

  • Christian Eriksen to score outside the penalty area – 9/2.
  • Scorecast Boost (Double Chance) – Andrew Nabbort to score first and Australia win 2-0 or 2-1 – 66/1.
  • Popular RequestABet – Over 1.5 goals, 5+ Denmark corners, 3+ Australia corners and 10+ booking points each team – 3/1.

Egypt vs Uruguay

FIFA World Cup 2018, Group AEkaterinburg Arena, Ekaterinburg

Live on BBC 1 – Kick-Off: 13:00

Egypt vs Uruguay – Egypt and Uruguay kick off their 2018 FIFA World Cup campaigns this Friday at the Ekaterinburg Arena.

All eyes will be the Egyptian starting eleven to see if Liverpool forward Mohammed Salah will recover from his shoulder injury he sustained in the Champions League final.

Meanwhile, Uruguay will be relying heavily on their attacking firepower. Barcelona striker Luis Suarez and Paris Saint Germain goal scorer Edinson Cavani are crucial for their nation if they are to open their campaign with three points.

Both countries are in Group A and are joined by Saudi Arabia and host nation Russia in the group stages.

Egypt have not impressed in their warm-up matches, with the absence of Salah a contributing factor. Draws with Kuwait and Columbia before a 3-0 loss to Belgium have not filled their fans with much optimism. The bookmakers are also not optimistic. SkyBet are offering 11/2 for them to win Group A and 11/8 for them to reach the knockout stages.

They have scored only two goals in their five matches in 2018. SkyBet are giving odds of 11/10 for them to find the back of the net. If Mo Salah does reach fitness, these odds are worth backing. However, they are heavy underdogs for this clash with 6/1 odds to overcome their South American opponents.

The favourites, with odds of 8/13, are top of the bookmakers list to win the group. Uruguay finished second in the South American qualifiers above Argentina and recently saw cup success at the China Cup in March this year. They are a well-oiled machine who often line up in a classic 4-4-2 formation and will assure that their two superstar strikers are provided with plenty of service to utilise their strength and power.

Uruguay only fit in one warm-up match where they made lightwork of Uzbekistan in a 3-0 victory. Suarez was able to convert from the spot to boost his confidence. Despite their lack of preparation, SkyBet are offering 8/11 for them to win Group A and very low odds of 1/6 to reach the knockouts. Also, both of their aforementioned strikers are priced at 3/1 each to be the top scorer in the Group.

Egypt vs Uruguay will be televised live in the UK on BBC 1 with kick-off at 13:00 GMT.

Prediction: Egypt 0 – 2 Uruguay

Suggested Tips – Egypt vs Uruguay – (BET365):

  • Uruguay 2-0 win – (link no longer available)
    – With Salah’s availability hanging in the balance, Egypt’s scoring prowess is likely to be minimal in comparison to their opponents.

Suggested Tips – Egypt vs Uruguay – (SKYBET):

  • Luis Suarez to score outside the area – 14/1
    – Although he is a ‘fox in the box’, he isn’t a stranger to a free-kick or an audacious long-range effort.
  • Edinson Cavani to score a goal assisted by Luis Suarez – 10/1
    – The pair up-front work very well together and often assist each other’s goals.
  • Popular RequestABets – Over 1.5 Goals, 3+ Egypt Corners, 5+ Uruguay Corners, and 10+ booking points each team – 11/4

FIFA World Cup 2018 - Tournament Betting Preview - RequestABets Special

FIFA World Cup 2018 Tournament Betting Preview – RequestABet special

With the FIFA World Cup 2018 a day away, everyone is wanting to get their tournament accas ready. SkyBet have launched a brand new World Cup section dedicated to their popular RequestABets. But which ones are good value? How certain are some of these bets?

Here are some of the best tips to top up your bank balance this summer.

Brazil, France, Germany and Spain to reach the quarter-finals – 7/2.

All four of these sides have been fancied by many to challenge for the trophy themselves. Looking at the groups, it is unlikely that any of the four would fall at the first hurdle. Of course, nothing is certain, but I like the look of the one from the start. Brazil are my personal tip to win the competition, with Germany in second-place. The current world champions will not let go of their crown easily.

France have unbelievable depth in their squad and therefore should be strong challengers after losing out in the European Championship final, two years ago. Spain are a much-changed side from the team that won the World Cup in 2010 but have regrouped under Julen Lopetegui.

This bet seems as close to a sure thing as possible. In order to really take advantage, I would advise a high stake, due to the bets low risk. Nothing is certain in life, but this appears to be pretty close to it.

Neymar, Messi and Lukaku to score 3+ goals – 4/1.

It’s tough to predict who will come out on top in the race for the golden boot. What is certain is that all three of these players will be key to their teams’ chances of success.

Messi and Neymar are both first-choice penalty takers for their sides, whilst Lukaku is second in line behind Eden Hazard. All three stars will start every game, with injury and suspension aside.

Each side is expected to get out the group, if not top it. Argentina face Croatia, Iceland and Nigeria which are all teams that leak goals. Messi could easily have his three goals before the group stages are out.

Neymar is Brazil’s poster boy. They should navigate through their group with ease, with Switzerland, Costa Rica and Serbia all expected to fight it out for the second spot.

Finally, Belgium’s toughest opponents are England. Aside from them, Lukaku could grab himself a hatful against lower-ranked sides Tunisia and Panama.

Longshot – Germany and Brazil to win all their group games and Panama and Iran to lose all their group games – 80/1.

I really like the look of this bet. Whilst it’s at much longer odds compared to the other two bets, this could be a real money maker. Panama and Iran are both the weakest sides in their groups that contain England, Belgium, Spain and Portugal. Both sides’ only hopes of a point will come against Tunisia and Morocco, which I still don’t think is likely.

Germany and Brazil are two of the strongest sides in the tournament. Both teams should win their groups and I can easily see both taking maximum points. This is great value at 80/1 and I would advise putting a few pounds on as a potential money maker.

Preston vs Derby County
Monday 2nd April 2018
Sky Bet Championship, Deepdale

Live on Sky Sports Football – Kick-Off: 12:45 GMT

Preston vs Derby County – The race for the play-offs intensifies with Derby County looking to bounce back from their humiliating 4-1 loss at home to Sunderland against fellow promotion hopefuls Preston.

Even withstanding Derby’s recent poor form, a three-goal defeat to bottom of the table was far from expected. Gary Rowett has a task on his hands to turn it around it and cling on to their top-six position.

Nearing the final stages of the season, it couldn’t be tighter in the race for promotion. There are just two points between the two teams, in 10th and 5th respectively.

The Rams’ run without a win has now extended to eight games, creating a real sense of freefall. Had it not been for the excellent form earlier in the season the play-offs would surely be beyond reach. Such as the nature of The Championship.

Preston have once again done well to put themselves in contention. They have generally been inconsistent all season but keep racking up enough wins to be in with a shot. Much of that has been down to their stellar away form, which is the third best in the division.

At home it is a different story, where The Lilywhites have only won seven of their 19 fixtures. Additionally, Alex Neil’s side have also conceded in their last eight matches at Deepdale. Derby have only lost three away matches all term, but with their woeful form it makes it a rather difficult one to call.

Another facet causing this to be close is that it pits two of the league’s better defences against each other. At least, in terms of matches in which they have conceded two or more. Only 2nd place Cardiff have conceded two or more in less games (seven) than the two sides (eight).

Championship top scorer Matej Vydra got his first goal in five last time out. The form of the 18-goal Czech Republic international could be crucial in deciding this game, and Derby’s season.

Preston also come into this one on the back of a 4-1 drubbing, at the hands of Sheffield Wednesday. Meaning this game has all the markings of a tight affair with both sides desperate not to concede the advantage, and three crucial points, to the other. The Championship is never dull.

Tony Harrington will be the man taking charge of this one in his 26th Championship fixture of the season. In the previous 25 the Englishman has given out 85 yellow cards and four reds at a middling average of 38 booking points per game.

Harrington may be on hand to add to that total, given Preston’s worst-in-the-league disciplinary record. Neil’s men have received a massive 89 bookings and four red cards. This puts Preston clear of the field with an average of 26.1 booking points per match. For comparison, Bolton are the nearest challengers for that crown with 23.4.

Prediction: Preston 1-1 Derby

A result neither side will be pleased about, Derby’s solid away form will keep them from defeat despite their slump.

Preston vs Derby County will be televised live on Sky Sports Football HD in the UK with kick off at 12:45 GMT.

Hull vs Aston Villa
Saturday 31st March 2018
Sky Bet Championship, KCOM Stadium

Live on Sky Sports Football – Kick-Off: 17:30

Hull vs Aston Villa – Both club’s campaigns have fared rather differently, with both fighting at opposite ends of the table. The hosts recently lost to relegation strugglers Birmingham City in their last outing, despite coming into the fixture on the back end of two positive victories over Ipswich and Norwich.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa can’t afford any more mistakes as their last two matches have seen them lose at the hands of QPR and Bolton. Automatic promotion seems to be slipping away from Steve Bruce’s side.

The hosts are currently 18th in the Championship standings and only six points from the drop zone. Hull’s attack has been much more proficient at home, with two or more goals in 52% of their home Championship matches. In total however, Hull have scored the most goals (53) in the whole bottom half of the table. Jarrod Bowen has stolen the spotlight this season for the Tigers, with 13 goals and 1 assist in orange and black.

Defensively is where Nigel Adkins’ side has struggled and is the reason for their low league standing. They have conceded a total of 59 goals in their 38 league matches. The Northern outfit has also managed a clean sheet in only 23% of their matches. They are capable of causing an upset against an out of form Aston Villa.

The visitors are currently 4th in Championship, seven points from second that would see them promoted automatically. Their recent form in front of goal has been frustrating for the Villa faithful. On the road, they have scored two or more goals in only 31% of their matches. Despite this, they have found the back of the net a total of 61 times this season. January signing Lewis Grabban has had a huge hand in the goals since his arrival. The striker has scored 16 Championship goals all season.

Steve Bruce’s side have one of the strongest defences in the league. They have conceded only 37 goals and have managed to keep a clean sheet in 42% of their away matches. They are favourites for this encounter.

The referee for this match is Andy Davies. The no nonsense official has awarded an average of 40.2 booking points in his 20 Championship matches.

Hull vs Aston Villa will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports Football and will kick off at 17:30 GMT.

Prediction – 2-0 Aston Villa win.

Suggested tips – Hull vs Aston Villa – (SKYBET):

  • Correct Score – Aston Villa Win 2-0 14/1.
  • Robert Snodgrass to score from outside the penalty area – 18/1.
  • Scorecast Boost – Jack Grelish to score first and Aston Villa win 2-0 – 45/1.
  • RequestABet Specials up to 10/1 – Aston Villa to score 2+ goals and 5+ Aston Villa corners – 9/2.
  • RequestABet Specials up to 10/1 –  Over 1.5 goals, 3+ corners each team and 30+ match booking pts – 7/4.

Everton vs Manchester City. Betting Match Preview - Saturday 31st March 2018, FA Premier League, Goodison Park. Live on BT Sport – Kick-Off: 17:30 GMT.

Everton vs Manchester City
Saturday 31st March 2018
FA Premier League, Goodison Park

Live on BT Sport – Kick-Off: 17:30

Everton vs Manchester City – Everton host league leaders Manchester City in Premier League action after another enthralling international break.

Both clubs are needing a win from this fixture, but for different purposes. The hosts are looking to catch up to Leicester and Burnley who are narrowly above them in the league whilst Manchester City are looking to increase the 16-point gap at the top and become one game closer to lifting the Premier League trophy.

Everton are currently ninth in the Premier League table. They have three wins in their last five outings, with their most recent victories over Stoke and Brighton illustrating their talent as they averaged 58% possession over the two matches. This season their form in front of goal has been much better at Goodison Park than on the road. They have averaged two or more goals in 60% of their home league matches, however City have conceded 20 goals all season. Will be a big test for Allardyce’s attack.

Defensively, Everton have been rather suspect at times. They have managed to keep a clean sheet in only 22% of their league matches. They have leaked goals at times, with 50 goals going against them in their 31 Premier League matches. Long odds for this Everton team, however they have proved to be tough to beat at home.

The visitors are currently first in the Premier League standings and can almost feel their fingers on the trophy. They are 16 points ahead of second placed Manchester United with eight games to play. Their dominance this season has been primarily down to their clinical attack. Pep Guardiola’s side have scored two or more goals in 80% of their league matches and have managed 85 goals in their 30 matches so far. Winger Leroy Sane has continued to impress and showcase his composure in front of goal in recent months. The German international should cause havoc this weekend.

Defensively, Guardiola’s men have been the best in the league. They have conceded only 20 goals all season and kept a clean sheet in 50% of their matches. The defensive muscle they possess is something to behold. Easy favourites for this fixture and you’d be a brave better to go against them.

Referee Paul Tierney is in charge of this fixture. The official has averaged 27.3 booking points in his 11 Premier League matches. He shouldn’t have too many problems on his hands, as Everton have averaged 16.9 booking points whilst City have averaged 17.

Everton vs Manchester City will be televised live on BT Sport 1 in the UK and will kick off at 17:30 GMT.

Prediction : Everton 0 – 2 Manchester City.

Swansea City vs Tottenham
Saturday 17th March 2018
FA Cup Quarter-Final, Liberty Stadium

Live on BT Sport – Kick-Off: 12:15

Swansea City vs Tottenham  – Swansea City host Tottenham Hotspur in the quarter finals of the FA Cup.

Both sides will be hoping for cup success after Tottenham’s recent Champions League exit and Swansea’s uninspiring Premier League campaign. The match will progress straight to extra-time and penalties if it is a draw after 90 minutes.

Both sides are missing key players for Saturday’s match. Andre Ayew is cup-tied whilst his brother, Jordan, will serve a suspension for his red card against Huddersfield. Harry Kane will be out for Spurs after his horror injury against Bournemouth.

The hosts are currently 14th in the Premier League and knocked out Sheffield Wednesday in the last round. Former Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal has seemed to bring life back into a Swansea side that was at the bottom of the table upon his arrival just over three months ago. Their goal scoring form has improved, having now scored two or more in 16% of their Premier League matches. They have managed to score 25 goals in their 30 appearances.

Whilst that may not seem all the impressive, they have become a much harder side to break down. The Swans have one of the best defensive records in the bottom half with 42 goals conceded. They have also kept a clean sheet in 30% of the matches; proving their defensive improvements under Carvalhal.

Tottenham are currently third in the Premier League and knocked out Rochdale in the last round. As aforementioned, the absence of Harry Kane could be crucial for Spurs as he has been the key talisman yet again this season. Kane has led a defence that has scored two or more goals in 50% of their Premier League matches. Heung-Min Son will have big boots to fill however many believe he will be up for the task. The South Korean has 12 goals and 4 assists in the Premier League campaign.

Spurs have also been defensively exemplary. They have only conceded 25 goals and kept a clean sheet in 46% of their matches. Both Jan Vertonghen and Davinson Sanchez are building a very stable and effective partnership at the back.

The referee for this fixture will be Kevin Friend. He shouldn’t have too many cards to show as both sides are well disciplined. Sours have averaged 14 booking points whilst Swansea have averaged 13.8. However, with high stakes it could become a feisty encounter.

Swansea City vs Tottenham will be televised live in the UK on BT Sport 1 with kick off at 12:15 GMT.

Prediction: 2-1 Tottenham win.

Suggested tips – Swansea City vs Tottenham  – (BET365):

  • Correct Score – 2-1 Tottenham – (link no longer available).

Real Madrid vs PSG - Match Preview - Wednesday 14 February, Champions League 2 Round

Real Madrid vs PSG
Wednesday 14th February, Bernabeu
Champions League – 2nd Round – 1st Leg

BT Sport 3 –  7:45 pm

Real Madrid vs PSG – Defending Champions Real Madrid take on PSG at the Bernabeu in the first-leg of their Champions League knockout tie.

After a disappointing domestic season, Madrid will be looking to restore their reputation in Europe. Sat in fourth, the reigning league champions sit 17 points behind Barcelona. With the league title long gone, their main focus has to be trying to catch second-placed Atletico Madrid, who are currently ten points ahead of them.

Despite struggling for most of this term, Zinedine Zidane’s sides’ form has improved recently, with four wins in their last six matches. With 12 goals in their last two home games, it isn’t goals that will dictate Madrid’s future in this competition. With Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos both struggling with injuries, Los Blancos have conceded 23 goals in 22 games. Whilst this doesn’t seem a bad return, it is three more goals than Barcelona and Atletico combined.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s league form has been under much scrutiny this season. The Portuguese forward has 11 goals this season from 18 games; a much lower return than previous seasons. In the Champions League, however, the former Manchester United forward has been in scintillating form. With nine goals from six games, Ronaldo has etched his name into Champions League history again this season. No player had previously scored in every group stages game before the five-time Ballon d’Or broke the record back in December last year.

Many will feel that PSG come into this game as favourites, despite facing the reigning Champions. Unai Emery’s side topped their group, collecting 15 points and beating Bayern Munich in the process. Having assembled one of the most expensive forward lines in history, it is little surprise to see Les Parisiens top of the goalscoring charts. With Edinson Cavani now joined by Kylian Mbappe and Neymar in attack, there is no defence in the world that wouldn’t be nervous about facing this potent trio. With 69 goals between the three in all competitions, PSG look like serious contenders for this competition and could make a real statement by toppling the reigning Champions on their own turf.

Gianluca Rocchi has been appointed as the referee for this crucial clash. The Italian has officiated ten games in Serie A this season, with an average of 4.9 cards per match. He has shown 46 yellow cards and two red cards this season, so booking points could be a good bet to go with.

With the amount of attacking talent on display on Wednesday night, it’s impossible to not predict goals. I think, despite their poor domestic form, Real Madrid will come out on top. Whilst PSG have been very impressive this season, the biggest players show their true ability in the biggest moments and I think Madrid will secure a crucial victory.

Real Madrid vs PSG will be televised live in the UK on BT Sport 3, with kick off at 19:45 GMT.

Prediction: Real Madrid 2-1 PSG.

Suggested tips (BET365):

  • Correct score, Madrid to win 2-1 – (link no longer available)

Sheffield United vs Leeds United - Match Betting Preview - Saturday 10 February 2018

Sheffield United vs Leeds United  – New Leeds manager Paul Heckingbottom will be desperate to start his reign with three points as they face Sheffield United in a Yorkshire derby.

After sacking Thomas Christansen, Leeds moved fast to appoint his successor. After signing a new contract at Barnsley just last week, this move will have come as a major surprise to most, not least the former Barnsley boss himself. Heckingbottom took over the club in League One and guided them to promotion, before consolidating them in the second tier of English football. He has earnt his move, now it’s time to prove he can do it on a bigger scale. One thing I would say is vital, Leeds have to give him time and money in the summer to craft his squad. Over a longer period, the success he had at Barnsley was evident and he needs the same conditions to be a success in East Yorkshire.

With Leeds seven points adrift of a play-off place, they may have to try to build for next season, but a good run of games could definitely see them catapulted into the top six. Without a win since boxing day, Leeds have lost five of their last seven and have picked up four red cards from their last five outings. A tough upcoming run of fixtures could make or break Leeds’ season but if the club show patience I definitely feel Heckingbottom has the right character to be the man to make them successful again.

After a run of just four wins in 15 games, Sheffield United have fallen out of the play-off places. The Blades now sit in eighth, five points behind sixth. Whilst United have massively overachieved this year, their recent run of form has been disappointing. The goals have dried up for top-scorer Leon Clarke, with just one goal from his last nine games. Chris Wilder has tried to freshen the team up with the introduction of his January recruitment but that has failed to pay off as of yet.

With one of the smallest squads amongst the challenging sides, United have finally run out of steam and they need a big win to try and get them back on track. Ever since Paul Coutts’ season-ending injury at Burton, they’ve looked a shadow of their former selves; it’s time for someone to step up to the plate if they want to finish in the top six.

Andrew Madley has been appointed as the referee for this Yorkshire clash. Madley has officiated 24 Championship games this season, more than anyone else. He has averaged 30.6 booking points per game and has yet to show a red card this season.

This will be a very interesting game, with two teams who’re out of form. Sheffield United will always try to go and win the game, especially at home, so the real test for Leeds will be trying to soak up the pressure and hit the Blades on the counter-attack.

Sheffield United vs Leeds United will be televised in the UK live on Sky Sports – Kick off at 12:30 GMT.
