Horse Racing Preview - Chelmsford City & Ascot - 6th October 2017

Today’s horse racing preview comes from two meetings, with selections from Ascot and York.

13.50 Ascot – Princess Margaret Juddmonte Stakes (Group 3) (6f)

Mark Johnston’s Nyaleti comes off the back of a one and three quarter length defeat to Clemmie which is looking excellent form. This daughter of Arch is still under consideration if she will go on this softer ground, but is definitely the most improved filly in the field and on her pedigree I would not be surprised if she is versatile on any going.

She will not have it all her own way though with the likes of Listed Empress Stakes winner Dance Diva who is proven on good ground, but once again can she adapt to this softer surface? Being by pattern winning sire Mayson, she looks to win the ground superiority over Nyaleti and gets the nod to make it 4-4 in her career.

DANCE DIVA : 2pt Win @ 3/1 (BOG)

15.35 Ascot – King George V1 & Queen Elizabeth Stakes (Group 1) (12f)

This looks a match race between Khalid Abdullah’s double Oaks winning filly Enable and Ballydoyle’s Prince of Wales’s Stakes winner Highland Reel. Enable has been impressive in both Oaks this year and takes on a strong field here, however I think she is vulnerable, despite getting a stone from the selection in Highland Reel, also not sure if the softer ground will play into her favour.

Highland Reel has been better than ever this season when landing the Coronation Cup and more recently the Prince of Wales’s Stakes where he was mighty impressive when pulling away from the field, with Ulysses and Jack Hobbs well beaten I cannot see that form being reversed.

But I feel there is still more to come from Benbatl who could be over priced at 18/1 after landing the Hampton Court Stakes at the Royal meeting, She ran a good race when runner up in the Dante when behind Permian who is an absentee this afternoon.

BENBATL : 1pt each way @ 18/1 (BOG)

16.10 Ascot – Wooldridge Group Pat Eddery Stakes (Listed)  (7f)

Four of the past seven renewals of this race have gone to the favourite and this years Tigre Du Terre gets the early status. Won a fairly competitive stakes race over course and distance two weeks ago and returns to keep his 100% record in tact. He would not want much more rain to get into the ground and the only result he recorded on this surface, he was defeated with authority.

I have opted though for Mark Johnston’s Ventura Knight who can grind out another win, I was quite taken in the attitude he showed when winning a good nursery at Leicester last time, still more to come despite taking the step up in class. Being There got off at the second attempt at Newmarket, but has been beaten on this type of ground on debut.

VENTURA KNIGHT : 2pt Win @ 11/2 (BOG)

15.15 York – Sky Bet York Stakes (Group 2) (10.2f)

Willlie Haggas’s Hathal deserves a crack at what looks a very open renewal. The penny dropped late when staying on into third in the Summer Mile Stakes at Ascot. However he also has Victory Bond who ran a good third here in the Listed Hambleton Stakes, he then returned to run midfield in the John Smiths Cup a race that does throw up some good horses.

Pat Cosgrave drops Victory Bond for Hathal this afternoon, and who better to take over than Philip Makin who landed this race back in 2014 for Andrew Balding. Its hard to see which one of Haggas’ entries has come out of their races well, they are both equally matched on what I have seen of their past two runs, but I am going to just give Victory Bond the nod here.

Best of the rest looks to come in Autocratic who won nicely when landing the Brigadier Gerard Stakes at Sandown, however has to prove oneself on softer ground. Mondialiste is the dark horse for team O’Meara and Tudhope, with the two pairing up at York. you have to respect whatever they place in races like this; Runner up to Time Test in last years correspondent race, and has failed not to hit the frame on both visits to the course, but overall even though this is a very open renewal I am going for Victory Bond to improve on his John Smiths Cup run.

VICTORY BOND : 1pt Each Way @ 8/1 (BOG)

Premier League 2017/2018 - Opening Day Preview

Opening Day Preview – As the Premier League 2017/2018 season begins in under 3 weeks, we look ahead to the opening day fixtures and the markets available.

With the Premier League becoming more and more competitive each season, the usual suspects of Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City have expanded out to include Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur vying for a place in the top 4 and a Champions League place.

These 6 teams are the focus of the preview and we look at the form over the past 5 years on the opening day to provide an outlook for the first day of the season.

Arsenal vs Leicester City

Arsenal won 1-0 last season at the Emirates in April Photo Credit: skysports.com

Arsenal – Last 5 opening day results: 1 draw, 1 win, 3 losses

Last 2 opening day results – Home losses (west ham 2-0, Liverpool 4-3)

Leicester City– Last 3 PL opening day results: 1 draw, 1 win, 1 loss

Last 2 opening day results – Home Win, Away loss

Prediction – Both Teams to score – Arsenal should win but have lost their opening 3 games in the last 3 years. Safe bet would be BTTS.

Watford vs Liverpool

Emre Can scored a stunner as Liverpool won 1-0 at Vicarage Road last May Photo Credit: skysports.com

Watford – Last 2 PL opening day results: 2 draws both away – Score draws

Liverpool – Last 5 opening day results: 4 wins, 1 loss

Last 2 opening day results – 2 Away Wins – (Stoke 1-0, Arsenal 4-3)

Prediction – A Liverpool win looks the likeliest with a possibility of BTTS.

Brighton and Hove Albion vs Manchester City

Brighton and Hove Albion – Last 5 EFL opening day results: 1 win, 1 draw, 3 losses

Last 2 opening day results – 1 win, 1 draw (Notts Forest 1-0, Derby 0-0)

Manchester City – Last 5 opening day results: 5 wins

Last 2 opening day results – 1 away win, 1 home win (WBA 3-0, Sunderland 2-1)

Prediction –  Brighton may struggle this season, having come up from the Championship when finishing 2nd to Newcastle. A very tough opening fixture for Chris Hughton.

Manchester City win, Over 2.5 goals.

Manchester United vs West Ham United

Man Utd drew last season against West Ham 1-1 at home in November Photo Credit: skysports.com

Manchester United – last 5 opening day results: 3 wins, 2 losses

Last 2 opening day results – 1 home win, 1 away win (Tottenham 1-0, Bournemouth 3-1)

West Ham – last 5 opening day results: 3 wins, 2 losses

Last 2 opening day results – 1 win, 1 loss (Arsenal 2-0, Chelsea 2-1)

Prediction – Tight game, West Ham bolstered squad with 2 significant signings; Javier Hernandez and Marko Arnautovic.

New Manchester United signing, Romelu Lukaku, has a great record against West Ham, scoring in 9 consecutive matches but only the single goal.

Prediction – Manchester United to win at home and a potential BTTS.

Newcastle United vs Tottenham Hotspur

Newcastle United – Last 5 opening day results: 1 win, 3 losses, 1 draw

Last 2 opening day results – 1 draw, 1 loss (Southampton 2-2, Fulham EFL 1-0)

Tottenham Hotspur – Last 5 opening day results: 2 wins, 2 losses, 1 draw

Last 2 opening day results – 1 loss, 1 draw (Man Utd 1-0, Everton 1-1)

Tottenham have played their last 5 opening fixtures away from home and do so once again for the start of the 2017/2018 campaign. Newcastle defeated Spurs on the opening day of the 2012/2013 season at home.

Prediction – Spurs should win this with the class they have in their side. Mauricio Pochettino has revived Spurs, seen in the last 2 years with strong finishes in the league providing Champions League football. Newcastle have the experience of manager Rafa Benitez in the Premier League, along with some of the players, but Spurs should be too good for the Tyneside club.

Chelsea vs Burnley

Chelsea won 3-0 against Burnley last season at home in August Photo Credit: skysports.com

Chelsea – Last 5 opening day results: 4 wins, 1 draw

Last 2 opening day results – 1 draw, 1 win (Swansea 2-2, West Ham 2-1)

Burnley – Last 5 opening day results: 1 win, 2 draws, 2 losses

Last 2 opening day results – 1 draw, 1 loss (EFL Leeds 1-1, Swansea 1-0)

Chelsea have been impressive on the first day of the season and look to continue their form when Burnley come to Stamford Bridge.

With an outstanding 1st season for Antonio Conte, winning the league and a finalist in the FA Cup, the Italian only looks to be progressing more with his side and Burnley will be lucky to score past the home side in a tough first day encounter.

Prediction – Chelsea win, over 2.5 goals.

Suggested Tips:

Daily Horse Racing Pro Tips - 24th August 2017

Today’s horse racing preview comes from two meetings, with selections coming from Ascot and York. Once more I will be at my favourite haunt at the Knavesmire soaking up the Pimm’s and lemonade.

15.20 Ascot – Carraig Insurance British EBF Valiant Stakes  (Listed) (8f)

Sir Michael Stoute’s filly Mittens has taken little time to get going from her transition from 2-3, but things are starting to come together for this daughter of New Approach who has notched up two good wins at Newmarket and more recently over course and distance when winning a 0-90 Hcp against her own sex.

Held up off the pace, she made smooth headway to lead inside the final furlong putting over three lengths between her nearest rival impressively, I would expect her to progress even further than this and could be one of the fillies to watch for the rest of the season. if there were any concerns, it would have to be the ground as she was beaten on good to soft at Goodwood last month, but that was over a furlong and a half further than today’s index, back over a mile she will be hard to defeat.

Richard Spencer has certainly become a trainer for the big occasion after seeing Rajasinghe land the Coventry Stakes here at the Royal meeting, represented here with Rebel Surge who has a habit of being placed over winning. 0-5 over today’s trip, you have to think she would be a lay more than a possible shock winner, but her consistency brings her to the level of possibility and would not put anyone off backing her each way at a price.

The unknown quality in the race is John Gosden’s three-year-old Whispering Bell who made a pleasing transition when winning in style at Windsor just over three weeks ago. She will get further than this being by Galileo, but having Exceed and Excel genes you would have to take the move in the market serious if money comes for her.

Overall, I would like to think there is more to come from Stoute’s exciting filly, with at present no pencilled big entries in the pipeline we have to see if she has come on again, Whispering Bell is the main danger I feel, she is well bred and should make her presence felt.

MITTENS : 2pt Win @ SP (BOG)

19.30 York – British Stallion Studs EBF Lyric Fillies Stakes  (Listed) (10.3f)

The advantage of living in York is to get one step ahead of the weather, the ground has been forecast as Good – Good to firm in places. We have had a fair bit of rain over the past few days here in York and I would like to think we will get good ground, maybe soft in places.

This could play into the hands of Sir Michael Stoute’s Playful Sound who won on her penultimate start when winning at Chester on good ground as a three-year-old when winning a 0-95 handicap, she won on seasons debut when landing the Spring Lodge Stakes at Newmarket over 9f, but failed to build on that when well beaten in the Listed Nottinghamshire Oaks back in May. Not seen for almost six weeks, I would like to think she can mix it up here in what looks a winnable contest.

Amjan Princess and Singyoursong have been consistent this year, with the latter winning twice at Lingfield and Goodwood. If the rain keeps up, I would have concerns that she will take part here, Singyoursong won well on seasons re-appearance at Brighton on good ground and ran well back in May when runner up at Nottingham in the same race as Playful Sound. With five lengths between them that day, she also had Entsar behind her, they all meet off level weights once more, Jamie Spencer gets shipped off to be replaced by Oisin Murphy and she should be on the premises once more.

Overall, both Singyoursong and Amjan Princess will be knocking on the door, but I am going to give an each way shout to Playful Sound to at least get into the placings under Danny Tudhope.

PLAYFUL SOUND : 1pt each way @ SP (BOG)

Horse Racing Preview - Doncaster - 16th September 2017

Today’s horse racing preview comes from 2 meetings, with selections from Sandown and Leopardstown, where we have two pattern races to get involved with.

15.05 Sandown – Longlines Irish Champions weekends EBF Stallions Star Stakes (Listed) (7f)

Mark Johnston’s Cape Bunting misses a Group 3 contest in Ireland to appear in this lesser graded contest this afternoon. The unbeaten juvenile has been impressive on both starts and looks open to more improvement after her Musselburgh win.

Billsdon Brook has progressed with every run, she eased away to a facile success at Kempton last time out, but she is still looking for her first turf win, however I feel she will become a nice three-year-old and will run her race once more.

Tajannus returns to conditions that saw her win a competitive novice stakes at Newmarket, but she will be up against a good field here.

Cape Bunting : 4pt win @ SP (BOG)

18.55 Leopardstown – Jockey Club Of Turkey Silver Flash Stakes (Group 3) (7f)

I liked the attitude of how Easter Lily went to win over course and distance two weeks ago. She looks a nice example of a Galileo filly who will come more forward as the season progresses.

Ballydoyle are also represented here with Happily who beat Shalailah quiet comfortably at the Curragh last month. She is another Galileo progeny; Ryan Moore prefers her over the selection.

Dermot Welds interesting newcomer here is Betsey Trotter who sees a race course for the first time this evening. She is by Camancho out of inourthoughts. Interesting to see any support on debut.

Easter Lily : 1pt Win @ SP (BOG)

19.30 Leopardstown – Japan Race Association Tyros Stakes (Group 3) (7f)

I would like to think Ger Lyons Would Be King can still improve after three solid runs, her one and three-quarter lengths behind Gustav Klimt is very hot form and is the one to beat here.

Berkley Square and The Pentagon both have to be respected from a strong yard. Ryan Moore prefers the latter who showed a good attitude to win at The Curragh in facile fashion, her biggest assignment to date and probably the danger to the selection.

Would Be King : 2pt Win @ SP (BOG)

Portugal vs England - Match Preview

Portugal vs England – Match Preview – England will face Portugal in their final group stage fixture at the 2017 Women’s EURO’s where they will be looking to secure top spot in Group D. Mark Sampson’s side are yet to concede a goal in the tournament and have scored eight in two matches. Spain came close to breaking down the tough English defence led by captain, Steph Houghton, however failed to do so. Portugal overcame a tough test against Scotland where a late counter attacking goal gave them their first win of the tournament, despite having spent plenty of the match on the back foot.

England have been the most impressive team in the tournament so far. Their clinical attack led by poacher, Jodie Taylor, has delivered plenty of creativity and goals thus far. The Arsenal striker has scored four goals in two matches and currently leads the tournament golden boot standings. She has been supported by attackers, Ellen White and Fran Kirby who have also had no trouble finding the back of the net.

Jodie Taylor tops the scoring charts in the tournament so far with 4 goals Photo Credit: skysports.com

England have illustrated their strength and depth with midfield and defence also impressing. Centre midfield rock, Jill Scott, continued her impressive form following the Scotland victory and defender, Lucy Bronze, has continued to showcase her attacking ability down the right side. All in all, England shouldn’t have too much trouble dispatching of this rather underwhelming Portugal side.

Skybet Correct Score Group Betting – England to win 3-0, 3-1 or 3-2 – 11/4

Portugal scraped through victory over Scotland in their last game Photo Credit: skysports.com

Portugal most recently took to the field against Scotland, where they narrowly won 2-1. The Portuguese seemed to struggle to string many passes together and were only dangerous in counter attacking scenarios. Scotland were able to give Portugal a tough 90 minutes where they were on the backfoot for plenty of it, so England will be another level all together. Trindade Coruche Mendes’ pace was Portugal’s biggest outlet, however were lucky Scotland were not clinical enough and squandered easy chances.

Portugal, like many nations at this tournament, are appearing for the first time. Manager Francisco Neto, has expressed his delight that his team were able to salvage three points in their first major tournament and will also believe his side have a good chance of qualification. Can Neto and his side create more history?

Skybet Match Result – Portugal to Win in 90 mins – 14/1

Suggested Tips:

USA v Jamaica - Match Preview

USA vs Jamaica – Match Preview International tournaments are a rare occurrence. They are the pinnacle of a professional footballer’s career, an opportunity for a player to showcase their abilities on the grandest audiences. Normally to legions of patriotic fans who look on either from the crowd or from a distance, watching their heroes attempt to cement their place in history.

USMNT and surprise package Jamaica will both compete at Levis Stadium, Santa Clara on Thursday morning in the CONCACAF Gold Cup Final to do just that.

The Yanks may not hold this competition in the highest regard compared to the World Cup for instance, hence the initial squad excluding a lot of big names like Jozy Altidore and Clint Dempsey and including younger, more inexperienced players, but make no mistake Bruce Arena’s team definitely want to win this tournament.

The stars switched back into the side at the quarter-final stage, and Clint Dempsey did what he does best to seal Sunday’s 2-0 semi-final victory over Costa Rica with a goal that ties him as the country’s all-time leading goal-scorer with Landon Donovan on 57 strikes.

A quarter-final triumph over El Salvador by the same score-line demonstrates that in a tournament where there has been no single outstanding team, the United States are garnering momentum at the just the right time and are demonstrating championship credentials.

Mexico suffered the ignominy of defeat against Jamaica in the semi-finals, and the United States will do everything in their power to avoid facing the same fate.
The Stars and Stripes are the second most successful side in Gold Cup history with 5 victories, two behind bitter rivals Mexico, and this presents a fantastic opportunity to narrow the gap to a singular title. Not to mention the reward for victory is a guaranteed place in the CONCACAF play-off for the 2021 Confederations Cup.

Kemar Lawrence scored a last minute stunner for Jamaica to progress to the Final Photo Credit:concacaf.com

Jamaica will be inherently aware of that opportunity, by beating Curacao, Canada and Mexico on the way, they have the chance to elevate their underdog story to the highest reaches of the game by beating a CONCACAF superpower like the United States in an international tournament final.
Creating a chance to play against the World’s best at the Confederations Cup is something manager Theodore Whitmore will be desperate to achieve.

This is the second successive final for the Reggae Boyz which is an outstanding achievement, this two-year period has undoubtedly been the greatest in Jamaican history.
Exacting revenge against 2015 winners Mexico in Monday’s semi-final with a resilient 1-0 win illustrates how far they have come. To do so with a wonderful moment of individual brilliance like the free-kick Kemar Lawrence curled into the top corner in the 88th minute makes it so much sweeter.

This final should have an intriguing clash of styles, the Reggae Boyz have only conceded two goals in the entire tournament and will set up to force the United States, who like to attack and are the tournament’s highest scorers with a total of 11 goals so far, to dominate possession and break them down.

The United States are unquestionably massive favourites to claim their sixth CONCACAF Gold Cup crown but do not rule Jamaica out one bit – they have already conquered Mexico and have glory in their sights.

CONCACAF Gold Cup Final - USA vs Jamaica - Match Preview

Clint Dempsey could become USA’s all time top goalscorer with a goal in the CONCACAF Final Photo Credit: skysports.com

Player to Watch
Clint Dempsey is an USMNT legend, nothing will ever change that. However, he has an opportunity to enhance that legacy on Thursday by scoring the goal that will place him as his country’s record goal-scorer and with a penchant for finding the net when it matters, you wouldn’t bet against him doing it. The ex-New England Revolution, Fulham, Spurs and Seattle Sounders forward is seeking his third CONCACAF Gold Cup against the team who he began his international career against, with a debut v Jamaica 13 years ago in 2004. He has since made a total of 136 appearances for the United States and it would be a special moment for all involved to see him score the winner.

Suggested Tips:

Barcelona vs Manchester United - Match Preview

Barcelona vs Manchester United – Match Preview Manchester United take on Barcelona as part of their pre – season tour of the USA this Wednesday evening in Maryland, (Thursday morning 12.30am BST). Currently top of the table in the International Champions Cup, the Red Devil’s have so far been in good form with victories over rivals, Manchester City, and a penalty shoot-out win over current European Champions, Real Madrid.  And hopefully this will progress to there domestic level when the Premier League begins in August.

Barcelona have played just the once so far and gained a win over Juventus as Brazilian forward, Neymar, scored a brace in the 2-1 win. Currently 3rd with 3 points, Barcelona will hope to end the tournament as winners to end a successive pre – season.

Neymar is currently being pursued by French Ligue 1 side PSG Photo Credit: skysports.com

Barcelona trio, Messi, Suarez and Neymar have all been included in the squad and could all feature together. New manager, Ernesto Valverde, will be able to test out new formations and tactics as he looks to build on the win over Juventus on the weekend.

Anthony Martial provided a stunning assist for Lingard against Real Madrid Photo Credit: skysports.com

Manchester United will be without Ander Herrera, who suffered an injury in the penalty shoot-out win over Real Madrid. Fellow Spaniard, Juan Mata, is also likely to miss out since injuring himself in the game against Real Salt Lake. New signing Romelu Lukaku and french forward, Anthony Martial, look set to start against the Catalan side.

With both sides possessing huge attacking strengths and vulnerabilities in defence, over 2.5 goals looks a safe bet and even a small wager on both teams to score in both halves. With the likes of Rashford, Lukaku, Messi and Suarez, the FedEx Field crowd of a possible 82,000 could be in for a real treat.

PDC World Matchplay 2017 - 2nd Round - Darts Preview

PDC World Matchplay 2017 – 2nd Round – Darts Preview  After an enticing first round of rather remarkable darts from the PDC’s biggest names, the second round will kick off with just as many mouth-watering fixtures.

In the biggest shock of the opening round, Alan Norris overcame the big Belgian Kim Huybrechts in a head-spinning match of darts. The Englishman went 3-0 down to win eight straight legs to give Huybrechts too big a mountain to climb to recover the match, resulting in a crushing first round exit for the world number 12. Norris will now face world number 5, Dave Chisnall who should have too much scoring power for Norris to deal with.

Skybet To Reach the Final – Dave Chisnall – 15/2

Mensur Suljovic Photo Credit: skysports.com

Dutchman, Jelle Klassen, continued his torrid year with a first-round exit after a 5-10 loss to Justin Pipe. Klassen has been haunted with injury and has only just returned to the oche, however, the break has clearly affected his game. Pipe played extremely well to capitalise on Klassen’s weaknesses and has deserved his spot in the next round. Pipe will now face the PDC’s dark horse, Mensur Suljovic. Suljovic has had a fine season so far and should continue in this fashion.

Skybet To Reach the Final – Mensur Suljovic – 7/1

World number one Michael van Gerwen began his World Matchplay campaign with a routine victory over Stephen Bunting. The Dutchman won the first seven sets and then went into cruise control to see the match out. ‘MvG’ will now face Australian, Simon Whitlock, who beat his fellow countryman Kyle Anderson. Whitlock is a long-standing darts player but won’t be able to cope with van Gerwen’s quality in this second-round match.

Phil Taylor Photo Credit: skysports.com

The match that has caught everyone’s attention is Phil Taylor vs Raymond van Barneveld, or more commonly referred to as ‘El Classico’. The two have dominated darts since its commercialised birth and whenever they face each other, every darts fans have their favourite. Taylor beat Welshman, Gerwyn Price, 10-5 to earn his place in the second round whilst Barney scrapped through following a tight match against Joe Cullen. This match can go either way, Taylor will feel this is one of his last ‘El Classico’s’ and he will be up for it more than ever, this could see him over the line.

Skybet To Reach the Final – Phil Taylor – 8/1

Horse Racing Preview - Windsor - 23rd October 2017

Today’s horse racing preview comes from one meeting, with 4 selections from Nottingham.

18.20 Nottingham – Watch Racing UK With Free Trial Now Novice Auction Stakes  (5.1f)

Paul Cole’s May Remain is the most experienced in the field, with one recorded win which came over five furlongs at Goodwood back in May. There have been positive runs since when returning to the haunt of Goodwood to be beaten quite convincingly over six furlongs.

He was subsequently dropped back to this trip and ran well again when beaten at Chepstow by a recent Listed contender in Listen Alexander who has been probably been running up to marks of around the mid-eighties. I am not that concerned by the softening conditions, considering the sire Mayson won plenty on this ground.

Main danger and selection though comes in the way of Ginbar of Tom Dascombe’s. He equipped himself well on debut when runner up at Chester when beaten by Gift in Time who had already run in the Norfolk Stakes. That race is going to produce more winners, Ginbar would not have to do much to improve to land this contest.

GINBAR : 3pt Win @ SP (BOG)

18.50 Nottingham – Racing UK Free For A Month Handicap

Michael Appleby trained last year’s third in this and returns with a live chance with Primanora, who could not be more consistent with all her fourth places on her resume. She has finished twice here at Nottingham over 6.1f and takes the drop back to the optimum which just might be a well plotted piece of brilliance by the trainer.

She won’t have it all her own way though, with the likes of Glacier Point in the race, who was last seen winning at Chepstow in a 0-70 Handicap. Her two runs on ground that has come up like today has failed to show her true self and once more can be vulnerable to the conditions.

Sitar also deserves a mention after her win over course and distance two runs back in a 0-65 handicap. However, was beaten in a 0-75 last time out at Yarmouth and the winner was left with egg on his face when finishing last recently. I will stay with Primanora as she will be value I think against the two main principles in the market.

PRIMANORA : 2pt Win @ SP (BOG)

19.20 Nottingham – Trial Racing UK For Free Now Handicap (0-80) (6.1f)

I feel the two to concentrate on here are the top and bottom weights in Champagne Bob and King of Spin. The latter is on a quick turnaround after scoring just four days ago. Can you believe that this five-year-old gelding has only been ridden by claiming amateurs since August of 2015?  With only three jockeys succeeding, including today’s rider Katherine Glenister who rode him to success two runs back at Chepstow.

This afternoon he is going for his third win in three weeks, however, despite getting lumps of weight from King of Spin, a stone and a half in fact, I do feel he will find it hard to fend off Richard Hughes four year old. He won here last August over course and distance on good ground and has equipped himself well recently when runner up at Windsor in a 0-85 handicap.

His last win here at the course, he wore a tongue tie, which returns once more after being left off his last three runs, which gives him the nod for me under 7lb claimer Finley Marsh.

KING OF SPIN : 3pts Win @ SP (BOG)

19.50 Nottingham – Starting Your Free Racing UK Free Trial Now Handicap (0-80) (8.3f)

I am finding it hard to get David O’Meara’s Lamloon beaten this evening. His consistent ability to keep on running under penalties and producing is the best form on offer here. Four attempts at a mile he has failed, hitting the bar on three occasions. Despite his only success coming over 9.1f at Ayr, in which he has become a regular visitor, he goes well in the conditions and would I like to think they could ride him handier with Tudhope in the plate, he can grind this out and win despite taking a slight drop in trip.

Richard Fahey’s Natajack looks the main danger under Tony Hamilton. He gets 9lb from the selection but I actually think that is a plus, Tony Hamilton’s stats when riding horses that are in receipt of weight when fancied have returned just 8% from 47 mounts. Natajack was probably unlucky not to win on debut at Newbury in these conditions when a head behind now 87 rated Musawaat.

Has been beaten over the index at Doncaster but that came on faster ground, the drop back to just under a mile saw him just hold on at Carlisle two weeks ago, will have to step up again to get back to back wins.

LAMLOOM : 2pt Win @ SP (BOG)

*I would also like to suggest a Win Lucky 15 on the 4 selections, as they can all give a good account of themselves on the day.*

Horse Racing Preview - Hereford - 29th November 2017

Today’s horse racing preview comes from one meeting, with two selections from Windsor.

18.45 Windsor – EBF Stallions Breeding Winners Fillies Handicap (11.4f)

Hugo Palmer’s Kind of Beauty should bounce back after a disappointing return when finishing fifth in a 0-90 Handicap at Salisbury last month. She is now stepping into a new index territory which should suit and I expect her to improve.

Best of the rest looks to come from Marie Josephe who won for the blog two runs back, but was over turned last time against an average bunch, Di Alta ran a good second at Doncaster and should make her presence felt once more, but with Buick booked on the selection she gets the nod here.

King of Beauty : 2pt Win @ 9/2 (BOG)

19.45 Windsor – Sky Bet Windsor Sprint Series Handicap (0-90) (5.1f)

I would like to see Joseph Tuite’s Secondo land the spoils here, with success when trained under the guidance of Roger Charlton and more recently Robert Stephens who mainly was competing in European contests.

This is only his second run for the new trainer and drops in to lesser company and trip, would have gone close if not finding trouble in running. Sandfranskipsgo and Atletico look best of the rest, the latter represents Roger Varian with Atzeni in the plate.

Ran a good third over 6f here at Windsor in maiden company, but piece of form to date came at Ripon when placed in a 0-95 Handicap so needs to be watched for market confidence. Sandfrankskipsgo is on a long losing streak, however does contain ability over the optimum trip and should be on the premises.

Secondo : 1pt each way @ 8/1 (BOG)
