Manchester United vs Tottenham Hotspur: Manchester United will be looking to bounce back from last week’s defeat against Brighton when they take on Tottenham at Old Trafford.

Jose Mourinho’s side suffered their first defeat of the season at the Amex last weekend, losing 3-2 to Brighton. With Mourinho for his ‘third season meltdowns’, there are already worrying signs for Red Devils fans. Ed Woodward didn’t back his man in the transfer window, as United failed to sign a much-needed centre back. Woodward found fault with each of Mourinho’s targets, with Toby Alderweireld now 29, Jerome Boateng injury-prone and Harry Maguire costing £70m. However, if United want to close the gap to City they needed to invest in a defender. You can’t bring in Mourinho, knowing that he is a manager for now, rather than the future and not back him – especially after giving a contract extension in January.

Tottenham have started the season with two wins, despite not quite being at their best with a number of World Cup stars absent. Harry Kane got himself off and running for the new season last week; ending his August hoodoo in the process. The Englishman had previously gone 15th matches without a goal in August, but sealed Spurs win with their third goal in a 3-1 win over Fulham. Despite failing to make any signings in the summer, Tottenham still look strong. Lucas Moura, who has struggled since joining from PSG last January, has started the season well. The Brazilian feels like a new addition and is starting to turn in the calibre of performance Spurs supporters were expecting when he joined six months ago.

Craig Pawson is the referee for Monday night’s clash. The Englishman has averaged 50+ booking points over two games, having issued red cards in both matches. He has also shown five yellow cards in his two games, so therefore I would advise a maximum of 40+ total match booking points.

It’s very hard to tell how United will react from last week’s loss. They could either down tools completely, or blow Tottenham out the water – they have the potential to do either. I’m expecting an improved performance, but Spurs don’t lose many games. Therefore, I think this could be a draw, or one goal separating the teams.

Manchester United vs Tottenham Hotspur will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports Football with kick off at 20:00 GMT.

Prediction: Manchester United 2-1 Tottenham Hotspur.

Newcastle United vs Chelsea

FA Premier League, St James Park

Live on Sky Sports Premier League – Kick-Off: 16:00 GMT

Newcastle United vs Chelsea – Newcastle and Chelsea will go head to head this Super Sunday in Premier League action.

The hosts have been a picture of frustration so far. Meanwhile, Chelsea have flourished under new management in Maurizio Sarri.

Newcastle are priced at 4/1 to win this match by SkyBet, in light of their disappointing draw with Cardiff in their last outing. They have managed only one point from two matches. They should have continued their promising showing from the Tottenham loss however their creative players such as Kenedy couldn’t get into the game. Jamaal Lascelles has marshalled the backline superbly under Benitez’ management but will have his hands full with Alvaro Morata and Eden Hazard this weekend. Joselu will be a key figure if Newcastle are to provide a shock. The Spaniard is priced at 9/1 to score first this weekend.

Chelsea have had a strong start to the season and are priced at 8/13 to beat Newcastle away from home. Their recent victory to Arsenal did not come without its drama, however a late finish from left wing back Marcos Alonso made sure all three points were secured at Stamford Bridge to make it six points from two games. Spanish winger Pedro has kept Eden Hazard out of the starting line-up and scored twice so far. He is 15/8 to score anytime however it is unsure whether Hazard, priced at 13/8, will return to the starting side. Chelsea should have too much quality for Newcastle – expect plenty of possession, shots and corners for the visitors. They’ve averaged 5 corners per match so far but expect 7+ this weekend.

The referee for this match will be Paul Tierney. The official brandished three yellow cards in his only match of the season so far. Newcastle are no strangers to the referee’s pocket so expect 40+ booking points.

Newcastle United vs Chelsea will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports Premier League and kicks off at 16:00 GMT.

Prediction: Newcastle United 0 – 2 Chelsea

Suggested Tips – Newcastle United vs Chelsea – (BET365)

  • Correct Score – 2-0 Chelsea – (link no longer available).
    – Chelsea will have too much attacking prowess for the Newcastle defence to deal with.

Suggested Tips – Newcastle United vs Chelsea – (SKYBET)

  • Correct Score Group Betting – Chelsea to win 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1 – 13/8.
  • Scorecast Boost – Eden Hazard to score first and Chelsea to win 2-1 – 40/1.

Watford vs Crystal Palace
Sunday 26th August 2018
FA Premier League, Vicarage Road

Live on Sky Sports Premier League – Kick-Off: 13:30 GMT

Watford vs Crystal Palace – Watford will host Crystal Palace in Premier League action this Super Sunday.

Both clubs have begun their campaigns in a positive fashion. Watford have won both their matches whilst Crystal Palace won on the opening weekend. Neither club will have their eyes set on anything more than a midtable finish for the season however both will expect to get point from a match like this.

The hosts have got off to a flyer and are priced by SkyBet at 6/4 to continue their winning streak. A dominant display on the opening day against Brighton was followed up by a clinical showing away at Burnley that has seen them bag five goals and concede only one. Argentinian midfielder Roberto Pereyra has looked a bright spark in attack and has already scored twice this season. He’s priced at 9/1 to break the deadlock this Sunday.

The Hornet’s rely on their commanding midfield to dictate the tempo of matches as well as get stuck in. Midfielder Will Hughes is living up to his reputation and many believe he could be a key figure on the right wing. The stamina and grit of Abdoulaye Doucoure and Etienne Capoue in the middle could see Palace struggle to break through the lines of midfield to attack. A team in good form – worth backing at their price.

Crystal Palace – priced at 19/10 – were unfortunate in their last outing to come out with a 2-0 loss to Liverpool. A penalty decision that split opinion was converted by James Milner before a trademark late counter attack sealed the 2-0 victory for Klopp’s side at Selhurst Park. However, there were many promising signs for The Eagles. Wilfried Zaha looked dangerous once more and is priced at a tempting 2/1 to score anytime. Andros Townsend and Jeffery Schlupp had plenty of positive moments on the wings and new signing Max Meyer also impressed when introduced. Their fluid attack was very unfortunate to not score against Liverpool but is priced well at 15/8 to score 2+ goals this Sunday.

The referee for this match will be Anthony Taylor. The official has averaged only 15 booking points in his two matches so far. Don’t expect too many cards.

Watford vs Crystal Palace will be televised on Sky Sports Premier League in the UK and kicks off at 13:30 GMT.

Prediction: Watford 1 – 1 Crystal Palace

Watford vs Crystal Palace – Suggested Tips – (BET365)

  • Correct Score: Draw 1-1  – (link no longer available).
    – Both teams have similar assets that could cancel each other out. Could be a stalemate in all fairness.

Watford vs Crystal Palace – Suggested Tips – (SKYBET)

  • Correct Score Group Betting – 1-1, 2-2 or 3-3 Draw – 10/3.
  • Both players to score – Andre Gray and Wilfried Zaha – 17/2.
  • A goal in both halves – Yes – 10/11.

Liverpool vs Brighton and Hove Albion
Saturday 25th August 2018
FA Premier League, Anfield

Live on BT Sports 1 – Kick-Off: 17:30 GMT

Liverpool vs Brighton – The Reds will be looking for a third league win in as many games when they face Brighton at Anfield.

The Reds secured back to back league victories with a 2-0 win against Crystal Palace on Monday night. James Milner’s penalty and Sadio Mane’s injury-time strike did the damage against ten-man Palace. Naby Keita put in another eye-catching display, having impressed in their opening-day win again West Ham. The midfield playmaker was a constant threat; he already looks like a fine purchase having made the £60m move from Red Bull Leipzig. Mane has also started the season in fine form, with three goals in two games. He has continued his partnership with Mohamad Salah and Roberto Firmino, who are a nightmare for any defence.

Virgil van Dijk produced another man of the match performance. The Dutch defender has been a revelation since joining the club from Southampton last January for £75m. He has installed an air of confidence in the back four, along with the addition of Alisson in goal. VVD looks like the perfect tutor for Joe Gomez, who has begun the season as his centre-back partner.

Brighton grabbed their first win of the new season with an eye-catching victory over Manchester United. The Seagulls condemned Jose Mourinho’s side to their first defeat of the campaign, with Glenn Murray, Pascal Gross and Shane Duffy inflicting the damage. There has been plenty of talk about ‘second season syndrome’ at the Amex, but Chris Hughton’s side put those concerns at ease with a fantastic display. They are, however, a much different proposition on the road – it’s their home form that kept them up last season.

Chris Kavanagh has been appointed as the referee for this game. The Englishman has officiated one match this season, showing three yellow cards. Last season he averaged 38.7 booking points and therefore I’d advise a maximum of 40+ for this game.

Liverpool have looked already looked as though they will be the strongest side to challenge Manchester City for the title. Brighton are a match for most at home, but they struggle away from the Amex. As a result, I’d plump for a home win, with the Reds to bag a few goals in the process.

Liverpool vs Brighton will be televised live in the UK on BT Sport 1 with kick off at 17:30 GMT.

Prediction: Liverpool 3-0 Brighton

Suggested Tips – Wolves vs Manchester City – (BET365):

  • Correct score: Liverpool to win 3-0 – (link no longer available).
  • Mane to score first – (link no longer available).

Suggested Tips – Wolves vs Manchester City – (SKYBET):

  • Correct Score Group Betting – Liverpool to win 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1 – 15/8.
  • Both Players to Score – Roberto Firmino and Mohammed Salah – 21/10.
  • Scorecast Boost – Mohamed Salah to score first and Liverpool to win 3-0 – 22/1.

Wolves vs Manchester City – The champions will be looking to maintain their 100% start to the season when they face Wolves, who are still looking for their first win.

City have laid down a marker already this campaign, following up their 2-0 win at Arsenal by thumping Huddersfield 6-1. Despite having a number of World Cup stars unavailable, and Kevin De Bruyne injured, City romped home as Sergio Aguero bagged a hattrick. It was the Argentine’s third treble in nine games as he moved up to tenth in the all-time Premier League goalscorers list. David Silva also marked his return to the side with a peach of a free-kick, having missed the win at the Emirates last week. City just look a class above the rest. The signing of Riyad Mahrez and Benjamin Mendy’s return to fitness has only made them stronger. Whilst they will miss De Bruyne’s creativity in midfield, Pep Guardiola has an abundance of options to choose from to replace the Belgian.

Wolves suffered their first defeat of the season last weekend, losing 2-0 to Leicester. Wolves hit the woodwork three times but couldn’t find a breakthrough, leaving them searching for their first win since returning to the top flight. It’s the second week in a row they have failed to take advantage against ten men, as Jamie Vardy was dismissed for a late tackle of Matt Doherty. Wolves have been unlucky so far, but need to find a more ruthless edge in front of goal. Their general play is good; they just need to sharpen up in both 18-yard boxes. New signing Adama Traore did look lively from the bench and could be in line for his first start at the weekend, as could defensive midfielder Lars Dendoncker.

Martin Atkinson is the referee for this game. The Englishman has an average booking points total of 30, having officiated two matches so far this season. This total is in line with last season, so I would, therefore, recommend a maximum of 40+total booking points for this game.

Although Wolves are a good side and deserve more than a solitary point to show from their first two games, I can’t look beyond City for this one. They will lose at some point this season, but I doubt anyone will predict when. They were far superior last year and they look, dare I say it, even better this time around.

Wolves vs Manchester City will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports Football with kick-off at 12:30 GMT.

Prediction: Wolves 0-3 Manchester City

Middlesbrough vs West Brom
Friday 24th August 2018
The Championship, The Riverside Stadium

Live on Sky Sports Football – Kick-Off: 19:45 GMT

Middlesbrough vs West Brom – Tony Pulis takes on his old employers as his Middlesbrough side host West Brom in a heavyweight Championship clash.

Both sides are in impressive form and victory will help maintain momentum and help further establish a respective favourites tag. Pulis’ has pedigree at this level and the squad has talent in players like Britt Assombalonga and Marcus Braithwaite. (The attacking duo have netted five league goals even at this stage.) Consequentially Boro were strongly fancied pre-season to have a big campaign.

The Wearsiders’ unbeaten start has done nothing to dispel those beliefs. Middlesbrough are second, level on points with 1st place Leeds and have victories over Birmingham, Sheffield United and Bristol City. The opening day 2-2 draw with Millwall was also positive, coming from 2-0 down in the 87th minute to tie.

A similar story with of early optimism with West Brom. After a long and often stable period in the Premier League, last season proved one too many. A positive did come in that after the end was nigh, now manager Darren Moore had a massive impact on the team and the club’s atmosphere.

The positivity is flowing too as The Baggies seek a third consecutive win and a fifth unbeaten in all competitions. Keeping hold of players such as Matt Phillips and Jay Rodriguez could be so beneficial at this level. The pairing already have seven league goals between them, helped massively by the 7-1 battering of struggling QPR.

As is the way in the Championship, this game starts a difficult run of league fixtures for both teams. The Baggies have pre-season favourites Stoke City next before an away trip to Midlands rivals Birmingham City. Middlesbrough’s challenge comes in the form of leaders Leeds and then Norwich away before facing fellow top 6 sides Bolton and Swansea at The Riverside.

Tricky runs elevates the importance of this fixture, to continue the push up the league and lay out early intentions. Come the end of the season one would expect both these teams to be in the mix promotion. Knowing how tight the Championship can be, this game could perhaps make all the difference.

This will be referee John Brooks’ third Championship match of the season. Despite being in early stages, Brooks holds the highest cards and points average per game. This is due to the eight yellows dished out in Bolton vs Bristol City and the six yellows and a red in Stoke’s 3-0 loss to Wigan. Cards are to be expected here.

Middlesbrough vs West Brom will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports Football with kick off at 19:45.

Prediction: Middlesbrough 2 – 1 West Brom.

Suggested Tips – Middlesbrough vs West Brom – (BET365):

  • Correct score: Middlesbrough to win 2-1  – (link no longer available).

Suggested Tips – Middlesbrough vs West Brom – (SKYBET):

  • Player Shots on Target Multiples – Britt Assombalonga and Dwight Gayle 2+ shots on target each – 6/1.

Crystal Palace vs Liverpool
Monday 20th August 2018
FA Premier League, Selhurst Park

Live on Sky Sports Football – Kick-Off: 20:00 GMT

Crystal Palace vs Liverpool is this Monday’s nights televised games in the Premier League.

Roy Hodgson’s Palace side saw off Premier League newcomers Fulham on the opening day in a 2-0 victory. Goals came from Wilfried Zaha and Jeffery Schlupp. Meanwhile, Liverpool picked up from where they left off last season. A 4-0 victory and Mo Salah opening his 2018/19 account came as a shock to no one.

The hosts are priced at 11/2 to cause an upset at Selhurst Park. Although they did start very positively against Fulham; Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool is a different kettle of fish. Natural winger Wilfried Zaha took up a much more central role which allowed him more space to create dangerous attacks for Palace. He is priced at 17/2 to score first – great punt for any risktakers. Andros Townsend and Jeffery Schlupp are both dangermen on the wings and new signing Jordan Ayew could feature. A player who showed his attacking potential last season with Swansea City.

The visitors are clear favourites for this match as they will be hoping to send out a statement of intent regarding a title push this season. SkyBet have priced them at 4/9 to make it two wins from two. It’s hard to pick out a weak area from Liverpool’s squad, with old and new faces seamlessly working perfectly together as they dispatched of West Ham on opening day. Sadio Mane continued his opening day antics with a brace, whilst goal machine Mo Salah grabbed the opener and Daniel Sturridge made it four at the death. Naby Keita looked comfortable in the middle of the park and James Milner only seems to be getting younger. This squad will be feared by opposition all season. Liverpool are priced at 11/8 to score three or more goals – a feat you could not argue against.

The referee for this match will be Michael Oliver. Oliver was in charge at Anfield last weekend, where he brandished four cards.

Prediction: 3-0 Liverpool win.

Crystal Palace will have their work cut out against Liverpool, who are becoming defensively stronger. The front three should run riot and make it an easy three points.

Crystal Palace vs Liverpool will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports Football with kick-off at 20:00 GMT.

  • RequestABet Insurance – Zaha 2+ shots on target, Sakho 2+ Tackles, and Benteke 2+ offsides – 33/1.

  • RequestABet Specials – Salah and van Dijk both to score and Liverpool win 3-0 – 100/1.
  • Both Players to Score – Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane both to score – 7/2.
  • Correct Score Group Betting – Liverpool to win 3-0, 3-1 or 3-2 – 7/2. (NAP).
  • First Goalscorer – Mohammed Salah  – 11/4.
  • Popular RequestABets – Over 1.5 Goals,3+ Crystal Palace Corners, 5+ Liverpool corners, and 10+ booking points each team – 9/4. (NB).

  • RequestABet Specials 80/1 and above – Crystal Palace v Liverpool – Zaha to score, Crystal Palace to win, BTTS and Milivojevic & Gomez to be carded – 150/1. (Outsider).

Outside of the NAP and Next Best (NB) pick – we would suggest covering a maximum of 3 of the listed RABs unless your budget allows you to do so otherwise. Good luck tonight.

Manchester City vs Huddersfield Town

Live on Sky Sports Football – Kick-Off: 13:30 GMT

Manchester City vs Huddersfield Town – Pep Guardiola will be hoping his side can build on their victory at Arsenal with another win against Huddersfield.

City proved too strong for the Gunners last weekend, despite being without several first-team players. Kevin De Bruyne and Gabriel Jesus were only used as a substitute, whilst David Silva, Vincent Kompany and Nicolas Otamendi didn’t feature. Rihad Mahrez, however, made his debut, whilst Bernado Silva ran the show in a more central area. With Raheem Sterling opening the scoring in the first half, the Portuguese playmaker doubled City’s advantage in the second. Overall, they were just too powerful for Unai Emery’s side as they look to become the first team to retain the Premier League since 2008.

Defensively, City looked rock solid as well. John Stones partnered Aymeric Laporte and the Englishman continued his World Cup form into the new season. Stones was fantastic for England in the summer and he seems to have matured over the last 18 months, under the guidance of Guardiola. His has irradicated his errors, that often came from lapses in concentration. His distribution has always been phenomenal, to the point where Guardiola admitted they may use him in a midfield role at some point during the campaign.

Huddersfield were comprehensively beaten on the opening day as they lost 3-0 to Chelsea. The Terriers were second best against Maurizio Sarri’s side, and face an even tougher assignment against the champions. Having staved off relegation last year, David Wagner’s challenge is to perform the same feat this time around. Although we are only one game into the season, that task looks a tall order. I still have doubts over where the goals will come from in their side, whilst they also leak goals at the back. Still, they managed to perform a miracle last season, so there’s no reason they can’t do it again.

Manchester City look just as strong as last season, which is a worrying sight for the rest of the league. I expect them to take another three points on Sunday. Huddersfield could pull off a shock, as they did at the Etihad last season, but I highly doubt it.

Manchester City vs Huddersfield Town will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports Football with kick-off at 13:30 GMT.

Prediction: Manchester City 3-0 Huddersfield Town.

Suggested Tips – Manchester City vs Huddersfield Town – (SKYBET):

  • Correct score: City to win 3-0 – 9/2.

Suggested Tips – Manchester City vs Huddersfield Town – (SKYBET):

  • Aguero to score a brace – 11/8.
  • Silva and Sterling to score – 7/1.

Brighton and Hove Albion vs Manchester United
Sunday 19th August 2018
FA Premier League, Falmer Stadium

Live on Sky Sports Football – Kick-Off: 16:00 GMT

Brighton and Hove Albion vs Manchester United is this Sunday afternoon’s main game from the Premier League.

Both sides opening matches faired rather differently as the hosts were swept aside by Watford at Vicarage Road. Meanwhile, Manchester United slightly rode their luck against a tricky Leicester opposition. They came out 2-1 victors.

Chris Hughton will be hoping for a much more composed Brighton performance, who are priced at 17/4 to win this match by SkyBet. They also face tough opposition after Sunday, with Liverpool next up. Lone striker Glenn Murray struggled up top in the opener however could cause problems for the small sized United defence. His aerial ability will be key, as he is priced at 11/2 to score first. Their hard-working wingers also struggled to penetrate down the flanks and will struggle once more given the impressive performances of Matteo Darmian and Luke Shaw in the first match. Brighton only managed two corners in their curtain raiser and are priced at a tempting 11/10 to have 0-3 corners in this match.

Manchester United will have to improve their performance over 90 minutes and are priced at 3/4 to make it two wins from two. Their attacking creativity lacked at times against Leicester with Jesse Lingard a big loss. Paul Pogba stepped up to the plate in midfield alongside youngster Andreas Pereira and new signing Fred. However, Marcus Rashford struggled to make an impact in the new number 10 shirt and Romelu Lukaku didn’t do much better. Expect Rashford to come all guns blazing as his pace can disrupt the Brighton defence. He is priced at 9/2 to score first.

The referee for this match will be Kevin Friend. The official only gave two cards in his first match of the season. However, both sides showed aggressive tendencies in their last matches so expect cards.

Brighton and Hove Albion vs Manchester United will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports Football with kick-off at 16:00 GMT.

Prediction: Brighton 0 – 2 Manchester United.

The Red Devils will be polishing up their shooting boots after some frustration last time out. Brighton will find it hard to contain the quality and depth of United’s superstars.

Chelsea vs Arsenal: Two Premier League newcomers come head to head as Unai Emery’s Arsenal travel to Stamford Bridge to face Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea.

Sarri got off to the perfect start as Chelsea boss on Saturday, with a comprehensive 3-0 win at Huddersfield. Goals from N’Golo Kante, new signing Jorginho and Pedro sealed the victory. Jorginho and Kante seem to have already struck a golden partnership; when the Italian comes deep to pick up possession it allows Kante to move further up the field. This means Chelsea fans may see the Frenchman on the scoresheet more often this campaign. Kepa Arrizabalaga made his debut between the stick, replacing Thibaut Courtois as their new number one. You sense this game may be a better indicator of his ability, as he remained largely untested against Huddersfield. Eden Hazard is expected to start after coming off the bench, whilst Mateo Kovacic could make his appearance after signing on a season-long loan from Real Madrid.

Unai Emery was not so fortunate, as they went down 2-0 to Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium. Although facing the champions was always going to be a tough test, the enormity of the job Emery faces was made clear. It will take several transfer windows for Emery to get the personnel needed to execute his style. Petr Cech looked nervous trying to play out from the back, whilst neither Shkodran Mustafi nor Sokratis Papastathopoulos possesses fantastic pace in order to hold a high line. Mesut Ozil was ineffective on right-wing, whilst Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was isolated and starved of service upfront. Now, not every side will be as tough to play against as City, but this will not be a quick fix for Arsenal.

Martin Atkinson is the referee for Saturday’s game. The Englishman took charge of Newcastle V Tottenham on the opening weekend, dishing out four yellow cards. Therefore, I would advise a maximum of 40+total booking points for this game.

Both teams are in a transitional period as they adapt to their new managers. Chelsea, though, look like the better of the two teams and I fancy them to win on Saturday, as a result. It would be a major statement if Emery’s side came away with all three points, but I don’t see that happening.

Chelsea vs Arsenal will be televised live in the UK live on BT Sport 1 with kick-off at 17:30 GMT.
