SkyBet Championship, Loftus Road

Live on Sky Sports Football – Kick-Off: 17:30 GMT

QPR vs Norwich City  – Queens Park Rangers will host Norwich City this weekend in SkyBet Championship action.

Both teams have sustained steady starts to their campaigns. The hosts were in dire straights a few weeks back but have improved massively in their last few performances. Meanwhile Norwich also enter in good form, winning their previous two outings.

QPR are priced at 6/4 by SkyBet to get a home victory. Steve McClaren has demotivated his side after they looked destined for relegation in the opening match days. One standout player for QPR has been Ebere Eze. The winger impressed on loan last season at Wycombe Wanderers in League Two and has brought that form to the Championship – scoring three goals so far. He is priced at 7/2 to score anytime.

At times, the hosts have struggled to keep the opposition out and have already conceded 14 goals from 8 matches. With some natural finishers in the Canaries side, backing both teams to score at 4/6 to not bad for an accumulator.

Norwich are priced at 9/5 to extend their unbeaten run. Much like their opponents, Norwich have picked up their form of late after a poor start. They enter the match on the back of a home win against Middlesbrough and an away win against Reading. Finish striker Teemu Pukki scored in both those matches and has four so far this season. He has scored in each of his last four outings – two with Norwich and two with Finland – and is priced at 5/1 to break the deadlock.

Norwich also need some work defensively, as they have conceded in six of their eight matches. They have shipped 13 goals in total – another reason to back BTTS.

The referee for this match will be Darren Bond. Bond is not shy with his cards and has brandished an average of 33.8 booking points in his four Championship matches.

The match is televised on Sky Sports Football HD and kicks off at 17:30.

Prediction: QPR 1 – 1 Norwich City

Suggested tips – QPR vs Norwich City – (BET365):

Suggested tips – QPR vs Norwich City – (SKYBET):

  • Scorecast – Ebere Eze to score first and 1-1 – 50/1.

5/1 – 1-1 Draw – Both teams seem evenly matched with little between them. Both have also proved they can find the net.

Match Betting Preview - Fulham vs Watford. Saturday 22nd September 2018, FA Premier League, Craven Cottage. Live on Sky Sport Premier League – Kick-Off: 12:30 GMT.

Fulham vs Watford
Saturday 22nd
 September 2018
FA Premier League, Craven Cottage

Live on Sky Sports Premier League – Kick-Off: 12:30 GMT

Fulham vs Watford: Fulham host Watford in a London derby, with both sides looking to bounce back from defeats last weekend.

Fulham come into this game having been beaten 3-0 last time out against Manchester City. That result left the Cottagers in 15th place, with four points from their opening five matches. It’s been a relatively solid return to the top flight, although it is obvious that their home form will be key in their survival. Having splashed the cash in the summer, many have tipped Fulham to do well this year. Alexander Mitrovic has continued his form from last year with four goals in their opening five games.

The Serbian will be their main supply of goals for the campaign, having completed his permanent move from Newcastle in the summer. Defensively, Fulham still have plenty to learn. They’ve conceded 12 goals already, which is the highest in the division. Whilst they often can out-score their opposition, they will need to tighten up at the back in order to secure a second year at this level.

Watford lost their 100% start to the campaign last Saturday, losing 2-1 to Manchester United. The Hornets were unable to complete their comeback after Andre Gray reduced their two-goal deficit. Still, it’s been a fine start for Javi Garcia’s men, who were tipped to struggle by many before a ball was kicked. They currently occupy fourth spot, just three points off the top. Much of their fine start has been down to their new system, which allows Gray and Troy Deeney to play together. With a more narrow midfield, the pair are enjoying their time as a partnership which has culminated in four goals between them.

Martin Atkinson is the referee for this game. The Englishman has an average booking points total of 36 across five league games this season. He is the only referee to have officiated that number of games this season, proving he is one of the best in the eyes of the FA. Therefore, I would advise a maximum of 50+ total booking points for this fixture.

Watford have started the season in fantastic form, securing results both home and away. Fulham leak goals, but are very entertaining to watch and are a tough match for anyone at Craven Cottage. As a result, I’m going to plump for a draw, but I’d expect there to be goals in this game.

Fulham vs Watford will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports Premier League with kick-off at 12:30 GMT.

Prediction: Fulham 1-1 Watford

Suggested tips – Fulham vs Watford – (BET365):

  • Correct score: draw 1-1 – (link no longer available).

Suggested tips – Fulham vs Watford – (SKYBET):

  • Both Players to Score – Deeney and Gray to both score – 8/1.
  • First Goalscorer – Mitrovic to score and win – 5/2.
  • Correct Score Group Betting – Fulham to win 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1 – 5/2.
  • @FootyAccums Specials – BTTS, Mitrovic & Deeney 2+ shots on target each, 3+ corners each team and 10+ booking points each team – 14/1. (NAP – added 11:48).

Match Betting Preview - Wigan Athletic vs Bristol City. Friday 21st September 2018, SkyBet Championship, DW Stadium. Live on Sky Sports Football – Kick-Off: 19:45 GMT.

Wigan Athletic vs Bristol City
Friday 21st
 September 2018
SkyBet Championship, DW Stadium

Live on Sky Sports Football – Kick-Off: 19:45 GMT

Wigan Athletic vs Bristol City – two unlikely Championship high-flyers meet as Wigan Athletic host Bristol City with both looking to consolidate a play-off spot.

Fresh from League One promotion, Wigan Athletic have adapted to life in England’s second tier with relative ease. Victories over Hull, Rotherham, Sheffield Wednesday and a comprehensive 3-0 win at Stoke have set Wigan off to a good start.

Paul Cook largely has the performances of Nick Powell to thank for the points on the board. The ex-Manchester United midfielder has already notched three goals and a further three assists – no one has more. Paul Cook has done a great job with a relatively young squad, and it is evident the team is improving.

There is just one point currently separating these two sides, so it is entirely plausible a home win will send Wigan into the top six. Even a draw could keep The Latics within touching distance. Obviously, Wigan are no strangers to life in the Premier League but after dropping to League One the club are surpassing expectations by currently sitting in eighth in their first season back in the Championship.

However, a very tough opponent comes in the form of Bristol City. Lee Johnson’s side lost 4-2 to rampant top-scorers West Brom last time out, ending a streak of four consecutive wins. Those four wins saw City rocket up the table and even with that loss still find themselves in fifth. Though now Middlesbrough are a firm four points out of reach in the automatic promotion spot.

Last season was a true rollercoaster for The Robins. A remarkable run in the EFL Cup culminated in a victory over Manchester United and coming close in the semi-finals against Manchester City. Before that, Johnson’s men were also truly pushing for an automatic promotion spot in the league before late-season form derailed the challenge. The end of last year saw many temper expectations of what City can achieve, but with four straight wins a lot of critics have been silenced.

One can expect goals in this affair. Wigan have scored in their last four at home while The Robins have netted in their last four away. Only five teams have scored more than Wigan and only three more than Bristol City. Andreas Weimann already has five to his name this year and will be hungry for more.

Oliver Langford will take charge of this match, his fifth Championship game of the season. Langford has previously also an EFL cup game and one match in League Two, dishing out a red card in the latter. However, Langford has generally been lenient in his games, only giving out an average of 2.6 cards per game.

This game will be an excellent marker of where each team is at. More importantly, where each team wants to be come crunch time in May. Both teams have proven they have the capability to pick up wins at this level. Stranger things have happened than one or both sneaking into the top six at the end of the year. Three points here would be a good start to obtaining that elusive dream.

Wigan Athletic vs Bristol City will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports Football with kick off at 19:45 GMT.

Prediction – Wigan 1-2 Bristol City

Suggested Tips – Wigan Athletic vs Bristol City – (BET365)

  • Correct Score – Bristol City win 2-1 – (link no longer available).

Suggested Tips – Wigan Athletic vs Bristol City – (SKYBET)

  • Weimann to score, Bristol City to win and BTTS – 7/1.

Match Betting Preview - Arsenal vs Vorskla Poltava. Thursday 20th September 2018, UEFA Europa League - Group E Qualifier, The Emirates Stadium. Live on BT Sport 2 – Kick-Off: 20:00 GMT.

Arsenal vs Vorskla Poltava
Thursday 20th September 2018, The Emiraes Stadium
UEFA Europa League – Group E Qualifier

BT Sport 2 – 20:00 GMT.

Arsenal vs Vorskla Poltava – Arsenal kick off their Europa League campaign at home to Ukrainian side Vorskla Poltava looking to build on back to back league wins.

The Gunners followed up their 3-2 win at Cardiff with another win on the road; this time 2-1 against Newcastle. Goals from Granit Xhaka and the returning Mesut Ozil made the difference. Speculation has been rife around the German’s future, although he started their last two games. Unai Emery is well documented for his preferred high-press style of play, which doesn’t suit Ozil’s nature. If he wants to become the exception to Emery’s usual rules, he must put in some stand out performances, which he hasn’t done for some time. There is no doubting that he is one of, if not the most, naturally-gifted players they have. However, his body language can sometimes play against him, creating an impression of laziness. If he can produce more goals and assists, then there is no reason why he cannot remain a key player for Arsenal in the long-term future.

Their opponents, Vorskla finished third in the Ukrainian Premier League last year. This year, their form has dropped – they’ve won just four of their opening eight league games. They have, however, won their last three games, so head into this match with some momentum. Vorskla have failed to score in four of their last five away games in this competition, which underlines how big of an underdog they are for this match. Their main goal threat lies in

Bart Vertenten is the referee for this game. The Belgian official plies his trade in the Belgian first division. He has refereed four league games this season, brandishing 12 yellow cards, and one red. Therefore, I would advise a maximum of 40+ total booking points for this match.

Arsenal should win this game comfortably, although Emery is likely to make wholesale changes. The Gunners’ boss will prioritise the league over this competition, certainly until the knockout rounds, but Arsenal should still progress without any problems.

Arsenal vs Vorskla Poltava will be televised live in the UK on BT Sport 3 with kick-off at 20:00 GMT.

Prediction: Arsenal 3-0 Vorskla Poltava

Match Betting Preview - Lyon vs Manchester City. Tuesday 27th November 2018, UEFA Champions League - Group F Qualifier, Groupama Stadium. Live on BT Sport 3 – Kick-Off: 20:00 GMT.

Manchester City vs Olympique Lyonnais
Wednesday 19th September 2018, Etihad Stadium
UEFA Champions League – Group F Qualifier

BT Sport 3 – 20:00 GMT

Manchester City begin their conquest for Champions League glory by welcoming Lyon for the first group stage game.

It has now been seven years since Pep Guardiola has made a Champions League final. Seven years. His Manchester City are the bookmaker’s favourites to win the tournament and end the great man’s barren run.

City enjoyed a well-documented, record-breaking campaign last year. Breaking the 100-point mark in the Premier League is an incredible achievement. Despite this, Guardiola knows he was brought in to deliver success in the biggest club competition of them all. His time at The Etihad may well be judged upon that very fact.

With a squad featuring players like Kevin de Bruyne, David Silva, Sergio Aguero and Leroy Sane (just to name four of the plethora of talented superstars at City’s disposal), few would bet against it.

The Champions have started this season in a similar vein to last, barring dropping points in a draw against Wolves. Four wins from five, exhilarating football being played, and a barrel of goals being scored, City are an absolute powerhouse.

Paris Saint Germain inevitably won Ligue 1 last season. However, barring the Parisians, no side scored more or conceded less than Lyon as Bruno Genesio’s side finished third. Lyon did well to fend away the advances of Marseille and solidify third place and guarantee a Champions League spot. Lyon had missed out the season previous due to finishing fourth, behind Nice. City would be unwise to underestimate the French outfit.

There is plenty of talent in The Kids’ side. Players like Memphis Depay, Bertrand Traore and Rafael are known to Premier League followers. But there is no doubting that the star is one certain Nabil Fekir. Captain and talisman, Fekir nearly secured a big-money move to Liverpool in the summer but it eventually broke down. Bruno’s side haven’t started the season particularly well, so the Champions League offers the opportunity to showcase their abilities.

Lyon have only mustered six goals in their opening five matches. A stark contrast to the Premier League’s joint-top-scorers, netting 14 in as many games.

The French side have a lot to live up to compared to their female counterparts. Lyon’s women’s team (Olympique Lyonnais Feminin) are reigning European Champions, for a second consecutive year and a fourth in total. Levels of supremacy that City themselves want to achieve, in both the men’s and women’s game.

Italian referee Daniele Orsato takes charge of this one, and he is not card-shy whatsoever. Orsato has officiated two Seria A matches this term, brandishing seven and five yellow cards out in each respectively.

Anything other than a comfortable City win would undoubtedly be a shock. That probably speaks more to their dominance than to any Lyon ineptitude, however. Expect Guardiola’s men to put a statement out to the challengers, they want European glory.

Manchester City vs Olympique Lyonnais will be televised live in the UK on BT Sport 3 with kick off at 16:00 GMT.

Prediction: Manchester City 4 – Olympique Lyonnais 1

Suggested Tips – Manchester City vs Olympique Lyonnais – (BET365)

Suggested Tips – Manchester City vs Olympique Lyonnais – (SKYBET)

Match Betting Preview - Middlesbrough vs Bolton Wanderers. Wednesday 19th September 2018, SkyBet Championship, Riverside Stadium. Live on Sky Sports Football – Kick-Off: 19:45 GMT.

Middlesbrough vs Bolton Wanderers
Wednesday 19th
 September 2018
SkyBet Championship, Riverside Stadium

Live on Sky Sports Football – Kick-Off: 19:45 GMT

Middlesbrough vs Bolton Wanderers is the Wednesday night treat from the Riverside stadium as ‘Boro look to keep up their promotion charge by hosting Bolton.

Tony Pulis’ side slumped to their first defeat of the season last time out, losing 1-0 at Norwich last. The result meant Leeds gained a point, but perhaps more ominously, it allowed other teams to catch nearer. Boro slipped to fourth, while Brentford and Bristol City strode into second and third respectively. The two latters side are ahead on goal difference as it stands.

The Teesiders are heavily fancied to be in the reckoning for promotion come the end of the season, and the first seven games have done little to dissuade from that assertion. A Tony Pulis side will always be sound defensively, and if Marcus Braithwaite and Britt Assombalonga can provide the firepower up top then Boro can be as good as anyone in the division. The latter has scored in each of his three previous matches facing Bolton, notching five times.

This match will be record-setting in one way or another. Boro are seeking a seventh straight home win for the first time since 1998, whilst Bolton are looking to remain undefeated in the opening four away games of the season for the first time since 2001/02. Testament to both side’s solid starts to the campaign.

It may even be more impressive in Bolton’s case, considering the troubles at the club. The past few years have been tough for The Trotters, enduring severe money issues that threatened the very livelihood of the club. This week brought solace however, as the club announced that it would unequivocally not be going into administration.

What more of a reason to be buoyed and raring to go. Even more so after the sad news of Stephen Darby’s forced retirement. The ex-Liverpool defender has been diagnosed with motor neurone disease, so his teammates will undoubtedly have in mind when they step onto the turf at The Riverside.

Boro and Bolton have received 15 and 12 yellow cards, the third and sixth worst records in the division respectively. Referee David Coote may have his hands full in his second Championship fixture of the year. In the previous one, Coote gave out four yellows, one more than the total amassed in the sole Premier League game he officiated this season.

This will be a battle of two good sides, both with a sting in the tail. Bolton have slumped after a strong start and have not won in three, but victories away at Reading and more notably West Brom on the opening day of the season will fill Wanderers with plenty of optimism. Pulis will hope Middlesbrough demonstrate the superior quality in the squad and back to winning ways. A place at the top of the table could depend on it.

Middlesbrough vs Bolton Wanderers will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports Football (red button) with kick off at 19:45 GMT.

Match Betting Preview - Sheffield United vs Birmingham City. Wednesday 19th September 2018, SkyBet Championship, Bramall Lane. Live on Sky Sports Football – Kick-Off: 19:45 GMT.

Sheffield United vs Birmingham City
Wednesday 19th September 2018
SkyBet Championship, Bramall Lane

Live on Sky Sports Football – Kick-Off: 19:45 GMT

Sheffield United vs Birmingham City – the two clubs’ campaigns have commenced in different fashions. The hosts have won four of their seven outings and sit comfortably in the play-off places. Meanwhile, the visitors are struggling to find three points yet, with five draws from their opening seven matches.

Sheffield United are priced at 17/20 to win on Wednesday. The Blades have been impressive so far in attack with 12 goals to their name. Talisman Billy Sharp has bagged three so far and could be a thorn in the back of the Blues defence with his pace and unpredictability. The Englishman is 7/2 to score first – worth backing.

Sheffield enter the match after a disappointing loss to Bristol City however they have a habit of answering defeat with victory. Last season in over 50% of their matches after a loss, they would claim three points. Sheffield also have a habit of starting brightly. In 17 of their 20 victories last year, they entered the break ahead. Sheffield United to win at half time is 11/8.

Birmingham are the obvious outsiders for this one, priced at 16/5. They’ve not performed as badly as their table position suggests. However, their chance creation to goals ratio makes for poor reading. Lukas Jutkiewicz has been a dominant force spearheading with his aerial ability. The target man is 11/4 to score anytime.

Blues have managed to draw five of their seven matches and manager Garry Monk has been a picture of frustration to date. A draw seems a likely result yet again – with a tempting price of 5/2.

The referee for this fixture will be Gavin Ward. The two teams haven’t been strangers to the referees pockets this season. Birmingham have averaged 16.4 booking points and the hosts have averaged 17.2.

Sheffield United vs Birmingham City will be televised on Sky Sports Football HD and kicks off at 19:45.

Prediction: Sheffield United 2 – 1 Birmingham City

– The Blades should have too much quality for the visitors. Expect both teams to score.

Match Betting Preview - Young Boys vs Manchester United. Wednesday 19th September 2018, UEFA Champions League - Group H Qualifier, Stade de Suisse. Live on BT Sport 2 – Kick-Off: 20:00 GMT.

Young Boys vs Manchester United
Wednesday 19th September 2018, Stade de Suisse
UEFA Champions League – Group H Qualifier

BT Sport 2 – 20:00 GMT.

Young Boys vs Manchester United: Manchester United kick off their European campaign when they face Swiss champions Young Boys in the Champions League.

Jose Mourinho’s side will be desperate to build on back to back league victories, with a win on foreign soil. The Red Devils backed up their win at Burnley before the international break with an impressive 2-1 victory over Watford at Vicarage Road. The Hornets went into that match with a 100% record for the campaign, having defeated Tottenham the week before. It was a tough test for United, but one they past unscathed. The win took them up to 8th place, six points behind leaders Chelsea.

Romelu Lukaku grabbed his fourth of the season, building on his brace at Turf Moor. The Belgian looks set for another productive campaign in front of goal, which will be key to United’s aspirations. They have not tasted success in this competition since 2008, and haven’t featured in the semi-final since 2011. For a club of United’s stature, that has to change. Mourinho has already guided Inter Milan and Porto to Champions League titles and he will be hoping to do the same in Manchester.

Young Boys have reached the group stages, or better, on five occasions in the last ten years, proving they are reasonably seasoned in this competition. Their best hopes of a result lay on the shoulders of Guillaume Hoarau, the much-travelled 34-year-old striker. The former PSG man scored 15 times in 20 starts for the club last year as they secured a first league title in 32 years. With the service of ex-Ajax winger Miralem Sulejmani from the left and former Newcastle right-back Kevin Mbabu on the right, Hoarau could prove a real danger to the United goal.

Deniz Aytekin is the referee for this game. The German plies his trade in the Bundesliga – officiating 17 league matches last year. This year, he only appeared once but brandished four yellow cards. Therefore, I would advise a maximum of 50+ total booking points for this game.

Whilst this a potential banana skin for United, they need to ensure they collect three points. Much tougher test await in the form of Valencia and Juventus, so they can ill afford to make any mistakes on Wednesday night.

Young Boys vs Manchester United will be televised live in the UK on BT Sport 2 with kick off at 20:00 GMT.

Prediction: Young Boys 0-2 Manchester United

Derby County vs Blackburn Rovers
Tuesday 18th
 September 2018
SkyBet Championship, Pride Park

Live on Sky Sports Football – Kick-Off: 19:45 GMT

Derby County vs Blackburn Rovers – both sides hoping to quickly turnaround huge disappointments from both their respective last matches.

Last time out Derby left Rotherham empty-handed after suffering a 1-0 defeat. Rams manager Frank Lampard was sent off in the 77th minute after arguing with officials about a stream of decisions. Tom Lawrence was given a straight red card for a reckless challenge. Then, Rotherham were later awarded a penalty which ultimately won the match. Lampard then was given his marching orders after protesting a handball.

After being humbled at home by Leeds United and losing to Millwall in August, three consecutive wins followed. Derby catapulted themselves into the top six. The Rotherham result will be somewhat of a reality check and surely inspire Derby to prove themselves against Blackburn.

Rovers themselves can feel hard done by the previous fixture, a 1-1 draw against Aston Villa, too. Star player Bradley Dack had a goal ruled out before eventually scoring, but Conor Hourihane scored a sublime free-kick deep into stoppage time to steal a point and break Blackburn hearts. Prior to the international break, Bristol City had shattered Blackburn 4-1, so the three points would have been crucial.

This leaves Derby in 7th on 12 points, with Blackburn six places afield yet only two points away. An away win would inevitably cause Rovers to leapfrog their opponents, such as the tightness at this stage.

Tony Mowbray’s side have only won two of their first seven. However, the loss against Bristol City is Rovers’ sole defeat, a solid return for a newly promoted side. Additionally, Blackburn have handed high-flyers Brentford their only loss too. It is safe to say a natural acclimatisation back to life in the Championship has occurred.

On the flipside, the prestige that comes from someone like Frank Lampard managing a club inevitably raises expectations. Derby possess a squad full of quality to match those expectations too. The Championship’s perennial nearly-men are almost certain to give it another good crack this term. Beating a newly promoted side at home must become routine to realise those ambitions.

Darren England will be the match referee, his sixth fixture of the league season so far. In the previous five, England has given 19 yellow cards and one red, an average of four per game. After Lawrence’s red last time out, Derby now have the second worst disciplinary record in the league, something to watch.

Derby have scored in their last three home matches, and fixture with the Rams more often include over 2.5 goals per game so there should be more goals to come here. A potential backlash incited by Lampard into his squad for the creative inability against Rotherham.

Derby County vs Blackburn Rovers will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports Football with kick off at 19:45 GMT.

Liverpool maintained their fantastic start to the campaign with a 2-1 victory at Wembley against Tottenham. Jurgen Klopp’s side found themselves on the wrong side of a 4-1 scoreline in this fixture last year. That on its own shows the vast improvement Liverpool have made, particularly defensively. Winning away at Tottenham was a huge statement towards their ambitions for the season. Spurs had won 14 out of 20 Premier League fixtures at Wembley, which highlights how strong a result this was. In truth, the Reds should have been out of sight before Erik Lamela pulled a goal back in injury time.

Liverpool haven’t been quite as devastating in attack so far this year, but they have defended tremendously. This is in no part thanks to the signing of Alisson in the summer, who has breathed new life into their back line. Virgil van Dijk also looks worth every single penny of the £75m they splashed last January. The Dutchman and Joe Gomez have formed a strong partnership at the heart of the defence, which is making them a lot tougher to beat. Having reached the final last year, Liverpool know they’re one of the best sides in Europe. They’ve been handed a much tougher group this time around, but they will go into these games full of confidence.

Like the Reds, PSG have one of the most feared front threes in Europe. The Ligue 1 champions have also made a perfect start to their new season, with five wins from as many games. They’ve hit 17 goals in those games, averaging 3.4 per game. With Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Edison Cavani in tandem, Liverpool will have to be on top of their game to keep them at bay. PSG are still yet to get beyond the Champions League quarter-finals, which will be new boss Thomas Tuchel’s main priority for this season.

Cuneyt Cakir is the referee for this game. The Turkish official refereed both Real Madrid’s quarter and semi-final ties last year, whilst also officiating several high-profile group matches. He has averaged 3.99 yellow cards and 0.21 red cards across 139 international games. Therefore, I would advise a maximum of 50+ total points for this match.

With the amount of attacking talent on the field, it’s hard to not envisage a flurry of goals. These two sides both have 100% records, which only adds to the tie. I think this will be a high-scoring draw, although either side may nick it by the odd goal.

Liverpool vs PSG will be televised live in the UK on BT Sport 2 with kick-off at 20:00 GMT.
