Arsenal vs CSKA Moscow
Thursday 5th April 2018
UEFA Europa League, Quarter-Final, First Leg, Emirates Stadium

Live on BT Sport 2 – Kick-Off: 20:05 GMT

Arsenal vs CSKA Moscow: Arsenal will be hoping to make the most of home advantage as they host CSKA Moscow in the first round of their Europa League quarter-final tie.

The Gunners come into the match fresh from defeating Stoke at the weekend. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang grabbed a brace alongside a goal for the returning Alexandre Lacazette in their 3-0 win. Lacazette will be hoping to start on Thursday following his return from injury but Aubameyang is ineligible having featured for Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League. This rule has, however, been removed ahead of next year’s competitions.

Danny Welbeck has been leading the line in Arsenal’s recent Europa League success, so it will be interesting to see who Arsene Wenger opts with from the start. They have won their last four games in a row, with three of those coming at the Emirates. They have only conceded one goal in those four games, scoring 11 times. With two more back to back home games to come, it’s crucial they make the most of their home comforts if they want to progress to the next round. Whilst the main priority will be ensuring they take a lead to Russia, they will hope to avoid giving the visitors any away goals in the process.

CSKA knocked out Lyon in the last round to move into the last eight of the competition. They currently sit third in the Russian Premier League, five points behind leaders Lokomotiv Moscow with seven games to go. They have won five of their last six games in all competitions. Despite losing the first leg at home to Lyon in the last round, they managed to defeat the French side 3-2 away from home. Therefore, Arsenal should seen that result as a warning; this is a team that can get a result on the road. Leicester City loanee Ahmed Musa is expected to lead the line whilst Russian midfielder Alan Dzagoev is their creative hub in the middle of the park.

Pavel Kralovec is the referee for Thursday’s clash. The Czech has officiated six games in Europe this season, brandishing 17 yellow cards. An average booking points total of 28.3 is nothing spectacular and thus booking points may be something to steer away from.

I think Arsenal will win, but it may be closer than some neutrals will expect. CSKA are no pushovers, which has been shown in the opposition they have beaten to get this far. Still, I expect the Gunners to come out winners in this match.

Arsenal vs CSKA Moscow will be televised live in the UK on BT Sport 2 with kick-off at 17:45.

Liverpool vs Manchester City
Wednesday 4th March 2018
UEFA Champions League, Quarter-Final, First Leg, Anfield

Live on BT Sport – Kick-Off: 19:45

Liverpool vs Manchester City: Liverpool will be hoping to make the most of their home advantage when they host Manchester City in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie.

The Reds come into the game after beating Crystal Palace 2-1 at the weekend. Mohamad Salah grabbed the winner with ten minutes to go, his 38th goal of the season in all competitions. Liverpool have lost one game at Anfield in all competitions this season. That defeat came back in January in the FA Cup, meaning the Reds are also unbeaten in their last five at home. If Jurgen Klopp’s side hold any hope of progressing into the last four, making the use of their crowd will be vital. The Reds are the only side to have beaten Pep Guardiola’s City team this season, a result that came here at Anfield.

In that match, City were blown away in a ten minute period. That was the effect of the Liverpool home crowd, an atmosphere they need to recreate on Wednesday night. If that league game was a European tie, a marginal 4-3 defeat would have been a good result for City, which highlights the size of Liverpool’s task.

City warmed up for this game with a 3-1 against Everton at the weekend. Guardiola’s side blew away the Toffees at Goodison Park, leading 3-0 before the half-time whistle. That win meant they can secure their third league title in seven years this weekend, in the Manchester derby. With three huge games in six days, it will be interesting to see which games Guardiola prioritises as looks to complete the treble.

Sergio Aguero will miss the trip to Anfield having failed to recover from a knee injury that has kept him out of action since March the fourth. As a result, Gabriel Jesus will lead the line in his absence, supported by Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane. The pace and skill of these three attackers would cause any defence in Europe problems. This could be crucial as City go in search of an important away goal.

Felix Brych has been appointed as the referee for this game. The German plies his trade in the Bundesliga and has averaged 3.57 cards per game this season. This included 47 yellow cards in 14 league games, averaging at 3.4 cards each match. Consequently, I would advise to stay under 40+ match booking points.

In their two league meetings this season, Liverpool and City have racked up 12 goals. Therefore, there are bound to be some more in these two legs. Thus, my bet would be BTTS and over 3.5 goals, although, as a correct score I do fancy a score draw.

Liverpool vs Manchester City will be televised live in the UK on BT Sports with kick-off at 19:45 GMT.

Prediction: Liverpool 2-2 Manchester City

Fulham vs Leeds United
Tuesday 3rd April 2018
Sky Bet Championship, Craven Cottage

Live on Sky Sports Football – Kick-Off: 19:45 GMT

Fulham vs Leeds – We are now in the business end of the season and Fulham will face Leeds in the SkyBet Championship with their play-off place all but sorted with seven matches left.

Both sides have endured rather different campaigns. The hosts have had a monumental climb up the Championship table after a lackadaisical start to their season. Whilst their opponents have faded into mediocrity after big expectations for them.

Fulham are currently 3rd in the SkyBet Championship and are cruising to a play-off place come the end of the season. Cardiff in second place are seven points ahead. It’s not an impossible gap to close however it could be a stretch too far. Fulham’s attacking play has been a joy to watch. They often like to dominate possession and dictate the tempo of any match. They have the second highest goal tally in the league; with 68 netted in their 39 matches.

In those 39 matches, they have scored two or more goals in 50% of them with Ryan Sessengnon stealing headlines. The 17-year-old has 14 goals and five assists. Defensively, Jokanovic’s men haven’t been as solid as the teams surrounding them in the league. They have conceded 41 goals and kept a clean sheet in 26% of their outings.

Leeds are currently 12th in the SkyBet Championship with very little left to play for. Their recent win over Bolton was not a convincing one as they only managed 44% possession however had 16 attempts on goal. Leeds have been rather effective in attack with 52 goals from 39 matches. They have scored two or more goals in 39% of their league matches with frontman Pierre- Michel Lassoga the most clinical. The German has 10 goals and three assists.

Their defence has been the downfall this season. Leeds have conceded 54 goals from 39 games and kept a clean sheet in only 26% of their away league fixtures. With very little to play for, it will be hard to see them keeping out a Fulham side that is enjoying dominating possession and peppering goalkeepers.

The referee for this match is Peter Bankes. The official has awarded an average of 40.6 booking points in his 25 Championship matches.

Fulham vs Leeds will be televised on Sky Sports Football and kicks off at 19:45 GMT in the UK.

Prediction: 2-0 Fulham win.

Suggested tips – Fulham vs Leeds United (BET365):

Sheffield United vs Cardiff City
Monday 2nd April 2018
SkyBet Championship, Bramall Lane

Live on Sky Sports Football – Kick-Off: 19:45

Sheffield United vs Cardiff: Neil Warnock returns to his former club as second placed Cardiff travel to play-off chasing Sheffield United.

Warnock, who is a United fan, managed the club between 1999-2007, leading them to the Premier League. Now he will be hoping to steal three points as his Cardiff City promotion dream takes shape. The Bluebirds hold a seven point lead in second place, following their eighth consecutive win against Burton Albion on Friday. Callum Paterson grabbed his ninth goal of the season in that win making him the club’s second highest scorer this season. Originally signed as a right-back, Warnock has transformed the Scotsman into a goal-scoring midfielder. Goals have been shared amongst the team this season, with Kenneth Zohore, Junior Hoilett and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing contributing a combined 25 goals to add to Paterson’s nine.

Sheffield United come into this match following their 1-1 draw with Brentford. That result left them in ninth place but only one point outside the play-offs. With just two points separating six teams between fifth and tenth, the battle for the top six has only intensified. The Blades will be without regular keeper Jamal Blackman for this match after he was shown a straight red card for an altercation with Ryan Woods. This game marks a tough run of fixtures for United against a number of promotion rivals. They still have to face Middlesbrough and Millwall at Bramall Lane, before travelling to Bristol City on the last day of the campaign.

Sheffield United haven’t beaten Cardiff in their last five meetings. Their last win came away from home in 2009. They also lost the reverse fixture earlier in the campaign 2-0. Cardiff’s last win at Bramall Lane came on their last visit, which was back in 2011. Warnock will be hoping his boyhood club won’t stand in the way of another three points.

Premier League officials Michael Oliver will take charge of this Monday night clash. Oliver is yet to officiate a Championship game this season but has the highest average booking points total in the top flight. Therefore, booking points may be a good bet, given the added physicality in the second tier.

Whilst Sheffield United’s home form has been good this season, I think Cardiff will come out on top. The goals have dried up recently for United’s frontmen, which could be crucial in this game.

Sheffield United vs Cardiff City will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports Football HD with kick-off at 19:45 GMT.

Prediction: Sheffield United 0-1 Cardiff City

Suggested tips – Sheffield United vs Cardiff City (BET365):

  • Correct score, Cardiff to win 1-0 – (link no longer available).
  • Cardiff to win to nil – (link no longer available).

Suggested tips – Sheffield United vs Cardiff City (SKYBET):

  • Hoilett to score and win – 7/2.
  • Cardiff to win by exactly one goal – 7/2.
  • BTTS and FT draw – 3/1.

Preston vs Derby County. Betting Match Preview, Monday 2nd April 2018, Sky Bet Championship, Deepdale. Live on Sky Sports Football – Kick-Off: 12:45 GMT.

Preston vs Derby County
Monday 2nd April 2018
Sky Bet Championship, Deepdale

Live on Sky Sports Football – Kick-Off: 12:45 GMT

Preston vs Derby County – The race for the play-offs intensifies with Derby County looking to bounce back from their humiliating 4-1 loss at home to Sunderland against fellow promotion hopefuls Preston.

Even withstanding Derby’s recent poor form, a three-goal defeat to bottom of the table was far from expected. Gary Rowett has a task on his hands to turn it around it and cling on to their top-six position.

Nearing the final stages of the season, it couldn’t be tighter in the race for promotion. There are just two points between the two teams, in 10th and 5th respectively.

The Rams’ run without a win has now extended to eight games, creating a real sense of freefall. Had it not been for the excellent form earlier in the season the play-offs would surely be beyond reach. Such as the nature of The Championship.

Preston have once again done well to put themselves in contention. They have generally been inconsistent all season but keep racking up enough wins to be in with a shot. Much of that has been down to their stellar away form, which is the third best in the division.

At home it is a different story, where The Lilywhites have only won seven of their 19 fixtures. Additionally, Alex Neil’s side have also conceded in their last eight matches at Deepdale. Derby have only lost three away matches all term, but with their woeful form it makes it a rather difficult one to call.

Another facet causing this to be close is that it pits two of the league’s better defences against each other. At least, in terms of matches in which they have conceded two or more. Only 2nd place Cardiff have conceded two or more in less games (seven) than the two sides (eight).

Championship top scorer Matej Vydra got his first goal in five last time out. The form of the 18-goal Czech Republic international could be crucial in deciding this game, and Derby’s season.

Preston also come into this one on the back of a 4-1 drubbing, at the hands of Sheffield Wednesday. Meaning this game has all the markings of a tight affair with both sides desperate not to concede the advantage, and three crucial points, to the other. The Championship is never dull.

Tony Harrington will be the man taking charge of this one in his 26th Championship fixture of the season. In the previous 25 the Englishman has given out 85 yellow cards and four reds at a middling average of 38 booking points per game.

Harrington may be on hand to add to that total, given Preston’s worst-in-the-league disciplinary record. Neil’s men have received a massive 89 bookings and four red cards. This puts Preston clear of the field with an average of 26.1 booking points per match. For comparison, Bolton are the nearest challengers for that crown with 23.4.

Prediction: Preston 1-1 Derby

A result neither side will be pleased about, Derby’s solid away form will keep them from defeat despite their slump.

Preston vs Derby County will be televised live on Sky Sports Football HD in the UK with kick off at 12:45 GMT.

Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur
Sunday 1st April 2018
FA Premier League, Stamford Bridge

Live on Sky Sports Football – Kick-Off: 16:00

Chelsea vs Tottenham  – It’s London derby time as Chelsea host Spurs at Stamford Bridge with a place in the top four a priority.

As the Premier League enters the business end of the season, both these clubs are expecting results in crucial games. They are both fighting for fourth place with Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham having a five-point advantage. A win for Antonio Conte and Chelsea would swing the race for fourth wide open with seven games left, and have I mentioned it’s a local derby too? What more do you need?

The hosts are currently fifth in the Premier League five points behind their opposition. Chelsea haven’t had much fortune during the second half of the season – with some embarrassing losses. Their most recent league outing saw them narrowly defeat Crystal Palace 2-1 with a convincing performance. They peppered Wayne Hennessey in the Palace net and showcased their attacking muscle that has seen them climb up the table. This season they have managed to score two or more goals in 50% of their league matches this season. Their attack, led by Eden Hazard, has scored 52 goals in their 30 matches.

Defensively, Chelsea have been safe and sound for the majority of the season. They have conceded 27 goals all season and have kept a clean sheet in 60% of their matches at Stamford Bridge. Cesar Azpilicueta has been the star man at the back for Chelsea. Spurs will have to find a way around him if they are to score.

The visitors are currently fourth in the Premier League and have been in great form domestically. The recent news of talisman Harry Kane’s injury doesn’t seem to have dampened their spirits, as they recently walked over Swansea in the FA Cup and smashed Bournemouth 4-1 in the league. Spurs, just like their opponents, have scored two or more goals in 50% of their league matches and scored 59 goals this season. Heung Min Son has stepped up in recent weeks, he’ll be the player to look out for.

Defensively, Spurs have been safe and sound. They have only conceded 25 goals and have kept a clean sheet in 46% of their league outings.

The referee for this fixture is Andre Marriner. The official has averaged 28.1 booking points in his 21 Premier League matches.

Chelsea vs Tottenham will be televised on Sky Sports Premier League and will kick off at 16:00 GMT in the UK.

Prediction: 2-1 Spurs.

Suggested tips – Chelsea vs Tottenham (BET365):

  • Correct score, Spurs to win 2-1 – (link no longer available).

Suggested tips – Chelsea vs Tottenham (SKYBET):

  • Match Stat Price Boost – Willian and Son 2+ shots on target each – 14/1.
  • @FootyAccums Specials – BTTS, 4+ corners each team and 20+ booking points each team – 9/2.
  • RequestABet Specials 80/1 and above – Chelsea vs Tottenham – Erikson and Willian to both score outside the area  – 100/1.

Arsenal vs Stoke City. Betting Match Preview - Sunday 1st April 2018, FA Premier League, Emirates Stadium. Live on Sky Sports Football – Kick-Off: 13:30 GMT.

Arsenal vs Stoke City
Sunday 1st April 2018
FA Premier League, Emirates Stadium

Live on Sky Sports Football – Kick-Off: 13:30

Arsenal vs Stoke: Arsenal host relegation-threatened Stoke City on Sunday looking to close the gap between them and the top four.

The Gunners come into this game in sixth place, 13 points adrift of Tottenham. Whilst any realistic hopes of finishing in the top four have disappeared, the Gunners could still make a late surge for Champions League football. The Europa League could also be a fruitful route to Europe’s elite competition. The quarter-final draw has matched them up with CSKA Moscow. On paper, this appears an easier tie than their last round against AC Milan. There’s no reason why they shouldn’t advance into the semi-finals as they look to win the competition. In the league, Chelsea host Tottenham at 4pm, which means at least one side will drop points. Thus, a win for the Gunners at 1:30 could see them close the gap on the teams above them.

With just seven league games remaining, Stoke are in desperate need of wins. The Potters sit three points adrift of West Ham and Crystal Palace with both those two sides holding a game in hand. Stoke still have to play both those two sides before the season ends, so it is imperative they give themselves a fighting chance. It’s imperative they are still in touch with the sides above them when these fixtures come around, meaning they need to pick up points elsewhere. After seven games without a win and back to back home defeats, Stoke need to start showing signs of improvements. Their squad is more than capable of getting out of this mess but with time running out they need points on the board.

Despite winning in this reverse fixture earlier this campaign, Stoke have won just one of their last six games against Arsenal. They have never won at the Emirates, with their last away victory coming back in 1981, almost 27 years ago.

Craig Pawson will be hoping to continue his fine run of form when he takes charge of this Sunday lunchtime match. Pawson has the highest average booking points total in the league at 41.1. He has issued 69 yellow cards across 19 league games this season and has brandished four red cards.

Arsenal tend to impress in these sorts of matches. Therefore I expect them to come out on top against a vulnerable Stoke side. My bet would be Arsenal to win by three goals or more goals.

Arsenal vs Stoke City will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports Football with kick off at 13:30 GMT.

Prediction: Arsenal 3-0 Stoke
