Manchester United vs Arsenal
Monday 30th September 2019

FA Premier League, Old Trafford

Live on Sky Sports Main Event – Kick Off: 20:00 BST

Monday night football returns tonight with Manchester United looking to get back to winning ways as they take on Arsenal at home.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s men are currently struggling to find form so far this season. The Red Devils have lost three of their last six Premier League home games. However, they have an impressive record against Arsenal at home being unbeaten in their last 12 Premier League games.

United lost their previous home league game against Crystal Palace a few weeks back, they’ve not lost consecutive home games against a London team since December 2001 – could this record be in jeopardy ?

However, The Gunners are in decent form following their 3-2 victory at home to Aston Villa last weekend and a thrilling 5-0 midweek victory over Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup at the Emirates Stadium.

Unai Emery’s side have won their last three games in all competitions and have only lost once, against Liverpool back in August, the North London side currently sit 8th in the Premier League table and have started the season in decent fashion. However, their defence is still proving to be an issue with Arsenal only keeping one clean sheet so far this campaign.

It’s going to be a very close encounter with both sides aiming to climb up the table and put themselves back in top four contention. However, I see Arsenal edging this game because they have the momentum going into tonight’s game. The gunners have won their previous game (Aston Villa) with the team morale on a high, and with their star player Aubameyang being in fine form, scoring 7 goals in all competitions so far this campaign they seem to be in better shape out of the two teams.

United have a very talented squad but are struggling to score goals with their first team strikers (Rashford and Martial) both out injured. Arsenal attacking skills and Man Utd weak defence could see them winning this convincingly.

The referee for tonight Monday night fixture will be Kevin Friend. The 48 year old has appeared five times and has awarded a total of 21 yellow cards and 2 red cards so far this season. 30 booking points as a minimum for tonight’s game seems a respectable shout.

Manchester United vs Arsenal will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports Main Event with kick off at 20:00 BST.

It will be a very close and end to end game with both teams having weaknesses to exploit. I see Arsenal coming on top and beating Manchester United.

Prediction: Manchester United 1-2 Arsenal

Match Betting Preview - Leicester City vs Newcastle United - Sunday 29th September 2019 - Premier League game at The King Power Stadium.

Leicester City vs Newcastle United
Sunday 29th September 2019
FA Premier League, King Power Stadium

Live on Sky Sports Main Event – Kick Off: 16:30 BST

Leicester City return to Premier League action this weekend as they host Newcastle United at the King Power stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Foxes are head into this weekends fixture following back to back wins. They followed up their impressive 2-1 victory against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend with a midweek win against Luton Town. Brendan Rodgers will be additionally pleased with the midweek win, as a number of first team regulars were absent, meaning they will return to action this weekend rested and reenergised for their latest test.

Newcastle United currently sit 17th in the Premier League and are without a win in their last four fixtures. Leicester City have already got one up on this weekend’s opponents. The Foxes defeated United on penalties in the second round of the Carabao Cup, following a 1-1 draw at St James Park. James Maddison opened the scoring for Leicester than night, and SkyBet are offering odds of 6/1 for Maddison to do so again this weekend.

There was an air of optimism amongst Leicester City supporters following the arrival of Ayoze Perez from this weekend’s opponents, Newcastle United. The Spaniard signed a 4-year deal worth £30 Million pounds to join Brendan Rogers’ side, and City fans are hoping he can replicate his positive performances which we were so used to seeing at Newcastle United. If Perez is to earn more minutes, he may have to adapt and show his versatility in a wider attacking role, which in turn would certainly bolster City’s attacking capabilities. Patience may well be the key however, from fans, players and most importantly Perez himself.

The referee for this weekends fixture is Craig Pawson. The 40-year old has appeared five times this season and has awarded a total of 29 yellow cards, which is an average of just below six yellow cards per match. Because of this, I would recommend a minimum of 30+ booking points.

Considering the contrasting recent form of these two sides, I can see nothing other than a home win. If Leicester are to breakthrough into the top 6 this season, then these are the matches which they will be expected to win, not just against the top teams. The biggest disappointment for those involved with Leicester City would be for them to drop points this weekend, following their huge win against Tottenham Hotspur.

This match will be shown live on Sky Sports Main Event, with kick off scheduled to take place at 16:30 BST.

Prediction: Leicester City 2-0 Newcastle.

  • Wilfried N’Didi and Jonjo Shelvey to make 10+ tackles between them – 11/1
  • Youri Tielemens to score first and Leicester City to win 3-1 – 150/1

Match Betting Preview - Barnsley vs Brentford, Sunday 29th September 2019 - Sky Bet Championship game at Oakwell Stadium.

Barnsley vs Brentford
Sunday 29th September 2019
Sky Bet Championship, Oakwell Stadium

Live on Sky Sports Football – Kick Off: 13:30 BST

SkyBet Championship action returns to Oakwell this weekend as Barnsley host Brentford on Sunday afternoon.

The hosts come into this weekends fixture in a wretched spell of form, losing five of eight fixtures this season, including their last two on the bounce. The visitors Brentford are in a similar recent vain of form. The Bee’s are without a win in their last two and have lost four of their opening eight fixtures this campaign.

If recent meetings are anything to go by between these two, Brentford will be full of confidence ahead of the fixture. Thomas Frank’s side are unbeaten in the last four meetings against Barnsley, and have not lost to them since 2006, when both sides were competing in League 1. In them last four meetings, BTTS has landed in only 1/4 of the encounters; SkyBet are offering odds of a Brentford win and BTTS at 3/1.

Ollie Watkins is Brentford’s top scorer so far this season and has netted four times in the league. The 23-year old has extra responsibility this season following the departure of Neil Maupay, who joined Premier League outfit Brighton. Maupay enjoyed a successful final season with the Bee’s on a personal level, he finished joint 2nd with Tammy Abraham and just below Teemu Pukki who scooped the 2018/19 Championship golden boot. The Frenchman notched 25 times for Brentford before his big move to England’s top-flight, and now the expectancy rests partly on Watkins young shoulders to contribute similar numbers this season. SkyBet are offering odds of 7/2 for Watkins to score first.

The referee for this weekends encounter is David Webb. The 41-year old has taken charge of six matches so far this season, administering seventeen yellow cards in the process. This considered, I would recommend a maximum of 40+ booking points for this fixture.

This match will be broadcast live on Sky Sports football and kick off is scheduled to take place at 13:30 BST.

Prediction: Both sides will be desperate to get a win this weekend and pull away from the teams surrounding them in the relegation places. I am expecting a very tight, cagey affair but I fancy Brentford to get a much-needed win.

Suggested picks – Barnsley vs Brentford – (SKYBET)

Correct score – Brentford to win 1-0 – (link no longer available).

Suggested picks – Barnsley vs Brentford – (SKYBET)

  • Brentford to win 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1 – 9/4
  • Cauley Woodrow and Ollie Watkins both to score – 7/1
  • Brentford to win and under 2.5 goals – 4/1
  • Brentford clean sheet – 2/1
  • Barnsley to score in the first 10 mins – 15/2
  • Scorecast (SkyBet): Sergi Canos to score first, Brentford to win 1-0 – 40/1

Match Betting Preview - Everton vs Manchester City, Saturday 28th September 2019 - Premier League game at Goodison Park Stadium.

Everton v Manchester City
Saturday 28th September 2019

FA Premier League, Goodison Park

Live on Sky Sports Main Event – Kick Off: 17:30 BST

The Saturday late kick-off sees Man City travel to Goodison Park to take on the Toffees.

Manchester City may not be at the top of the table but they absolutely annihilated Watford last week with an impressive 8-0 masterclass. Their level of play this season so far has been different gravy, apart from that shock Norwich defeat. They are five points behind top of the league Liverpool so really need to focus and win points whenever they can to close that gap.

Everton come into this having suffered two successive defeats to Sheffield United and Bournemouth. However, their goal form at home was pretty decent until the last match against the Blades. They created good chances but only had the one shot on target, their performance was a lot better than the final score.

City will come out all guns blazing to keep their bid for the title alive. They were spectacular against Watford and having read Watford’s keeper Ben Foster’s comments after the game “They were scary at times. It was just relentless. You could see them opening us up and the chances developing in front of your eyes. It was absolutely no fun. In all honesty, it could have been double digits.” I can see them scoring a few goals again this time out.

Everton have conceded seven goals in their last three league matches so their defence looks to be a problem. With this in mind, City to win 3-0 is currently 17/2 with bet365 and looks to be a bet for me.

Since Marco Silva took charge, Everton haven’t really made much of an improvement and seem to making the same mistakes over and over again. They also seem to have a problem with scoring goals at times which is another reason I feel it could be goalless for them.

Raheem Sterling was back on top form on Tuesday night when they played Preston in the EFL Cup. Having not played in the Watford game, he nicked a goal and a nice assist all within 35 minutes. Bet365 are top price 4/1 for him to be first goalscorer. Richarlison looks to be Everton’s most likely first goalscorer and at may tempt a lot of punters with the 11/1 available at Skybet.

I just cannot see Everton beating City and it’s no surprise to see City 3/10 to win the game. .

Everton vs Manchester City will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports with kick off at 17:30 BST.

Prediction: Everton 0 – 3 Manchester City

Match Betting Preview - Queens Park Rangers vs West Bromwich Albion, Saturday 28th September 2019 - Sky Bet Championship game.

Queens Park Rangers vs West Bromwich Albion
Saturday 28th September 2019
Sky Bet Championship, The Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium

Live on Sky Sports Football – Kick Off: 12:30 BST

West Bromwich Albion look to extend their unbeaten Championship run to nine matches as they travel to The Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium to face QPR on Saturday lunchtime.

Slaven Bilic’s side currently sit 4th in the current SkyBet Championship standings but come into this fixture as the most inform side in the division, having not yet been beaten in the league this season.

The Baggies are one of only five teams in the top four tiers of English football who have not been defeated so far this season. Themselves and Liverpool, Ipswich Town, Coventry City and Exeter City are the only remaining sides yet to lose.

Their opponents QPR have themselves enjoyed a strong start to the season and sit only a place below Albion in the league table. Rangers are unbeaten in their last four Championship encounters, winning all of them. Both teams go into this weekends clash level on points, and both only one point off Leeds United at the top.

In the combined total of sixteen league fixtures played by these two teams so far this season (8 each), BTTS has landed in fifteen. The one which didn’t was QPR’s 2-0 away defeat to Bristol City. Despite West Brom’s excellent opening to the campaign, it comes as somewhat of a surprise to learn that they have failed to keep a clean sheet to date, and that will be an area of concern for Slaven Bilic. BTTS in this fixture is priced at odds of ½ on SkyBet, which is no surprise.

The last two meetings between these two sides has produced an incredible thirteen goals. WBA hold the most recent bragging rights between the two, following their league double over QPR last season, defeating them 7-1 at home, before winning 3-2 away in February.

As you would imagine, I am expecting goals this weekend, and certainly expecting BTTS. With both sides strong opening to the season, and aspirations of promotion in May, both teams will be wanting to make a statement by grabbing a win. I don’t see it that way. I’m predicting a draw. And if so, it could be a big point come the end of the season…

This match will be broadcast live on Sky Sports football with kick off scheduled to take place at 12:30 BST.

Prediction: QPR 1-1 West Bromwich Albion

Suggested Tips – Queens Park Rangers vs West Bromwich Albion – (SKYBET)

  • Nahki Wells to score a brace – 11/1.
  • Toni Leistner and Semi Ajayi to make 5+ tackles between them – 9/2.
  • BTTS in both halves – 6/1.
  • Matt Philips to have 1+ shots on target in the first half – 4/1.
  • Scorecast (SkyBet): Nahki Wells to score first, 1-1 draw – 28/1.

Match Betting Preview - Sheffield United vs Liverpool, Saturday 28th September 2019 - FA Premier League game at Bramall Lane Stadium.

Sheffield United vs Liverpool
Saturday 28th September 2019

FA Premier League, Bramall Lane

Live on BT Sport – Kick Off: 12:30 BST

Liverpool will be looking to continue their unbeaten streak when they head to Bramall Lane for the early kick-off on Saturday.

Klopp’s men are in top form at the moment winning all of their six games on the bounce to kick start their 2019/20 Premier League season. They have already opened up a five-point lead over second in the table, Manchester City

However, The Blades will be fielding a full team following their midweek 1-0 defeat against Sunderland. Chris Wilder’s side are currently sitting 10th in the table and have started the season in decent fashion, not giving points away easily.

It’s really hard to see this going Sheffield’s way even at the 8/1 available with bet365, I couldn’t back them for the win, even with counterfeit money. I can see them coming out and going for it like Norwich City and playing on the front foot but I just don’t see the same result.

Sheffield have a fairly talented squad truth be told but they are just lacking class finishers. Liverpool however ooze attacking skills and I could see them winning this with a score like 3-1, which at best price 11/1 with bet365 is a bet for me. The Blades have only failed to score in one of their six EPL games this season, so I have a feeling they might bang one in.

Goals from Roberto Firmino and Trent Alexander-Arnold against Chelsea saw Premier League history made as they became the first side to win their first six opening games in consecutive seasons. With all this in mind I just cannot see Liverpool not coming out of this with three points.

The referee for the match will be Anthony Taylor. Taylor has shown more yellow cards early on the season than any other referee. He has refereed five United games, and sent off Basham in a 3-0 win over Blackburn Rovers last season. The Blades have however been given three penalties across the five matches from Taylor.

Sheffield United vs Liverpool will be televised live in the UK on BT Sport with kick off at 12:30 BST.

Prediction: Sheffield United 1 – 3 Liverpool

Stoke City vs Nottingham Forest
Friday 27th September 2019
Sky Bet Championship, BET 365 Stadium

Live on Sky Sports Football – Kick Off: 20:00 BST

Stoke City are still searching for their first win of the season as they host Nottingham Forest at the Bet 365 stadium this Friday evening.

The Potters head into the Friday night fixture with two points from their last eight games, currently sitting second from bottom in the Sky Bet Championship table and are winless in their last 14 games. Nathan Jones side are just one of two sides without a victory in the league so far this season.

Their poor form continued with a midweek defeat in the Carabao Cup at League Two side Crawley, being beaten on penalties after a 1-1 draw. Nathan Jones will be disappointed with the midweek defeat, as a number of first team regulars were selected, meaning they will return to action this weekend rested and re-energised for their latest test.

Their opponents Nottingham Forest were thrashed 5-0 in the Carabao Cup in midweek, at Arsenal. However, their Championship form has been impressive having enjoyed a strong start to the season, currently sit 6th in the SkyBet Championship. Forest have the momentum going into the club as they are unbeaten in their last five away league games so far this season. A win for Sabri Lamouchi side will take them top of the table.

The last two meetings between these two sides favours Stoke City, who have the sociological advantage going into tonight’s game with a 2-0 victory last time out. Stoke are unbeaten in six home games against Nottingham Forest in all competitions.

The man in the middle of the field for tonight game is Andy Madley as he takes charge of his fourth match of the season. Madley has shown nine yellow cards and one red card in his three games so far this season and therefore 30 bookings points is probably a fair margin to go for.

Considering the contrasting recent form of these two sides, I can see nothing other than an away win. If Stoke City are to climb up the table then these are the matches they will need to get points from. Nathan Jones is under serious pressure and is in need of a result. I see Forest winning in comfortable fashion.

This match will be shown live on Sky Sports Premier Football, with kick off scheduled to take place at 20:00 BST.

Chelsea vs Liverpool
Sunday 22nd September 2019
FA Premier League, Stamford Bridge

Live on Sky Sports Premier League – Kick-Off: 16:30 BST

Liverpool aim to make it six wins from six in the Premier League when they travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.

Both sides come into this fixture following disappointing midweek results in the Champions League. Chelsea were defeated 1-0 on home soil by Valencia, meanwhile Liverpool began the defence of their Champions League title with a 2-0 defeat to Napoli. Both managers will be expecting a strong response from their respective sides.

A win for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool will extend their winning run from last season’s Premier League season to 15 matches, a run only bettered by Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, twice.  The record currently stands at 18, held by City in 2017.

The last time these two sides met, Liverpool ran out 2-0 winners at Anfield thanks to goals from Sadio Mane and a thunderbolt from Mohamed Salah. Mane and Salah both to score this weekend is priced at 6/1 on SkyBet.

Fledgling Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has already shown this season he is not afraid to use his younger players, and much has been made of the contributions of Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount. Incidentally, each of Chelsea’s nine Premier League goals this season have been scored by English players aged 21 or under. Tammy Abraham (6), Mason Mount (2) and Fikayo Tomori (1).  However, Mason Mount faces a race to be fit in time for this clash, as he limped off in the midweek defeat to Valencia with a suspected ankle sprain and has been given an outsider’s chance of appearing against Liverpool.

Liverpool will be eager to banish the feeling of their midweek defeat against Napoli and put things right this weekend with a win. However, in recent times Liverpool have struggled at Stamford Bridge, with their most recent win away to Chelsea coming three years ago.  A win for the reds this weekend is priced at 19/10 on SkyBet.

I think this match on paper is the pick of the bunch in this round of fixtures, and I as well as most am expecting a top-quality battle. Both sides will be eager to return to winning ways, but I feel Liverpool will just edge it and claim all three points in South London. I am backing Liverpool’s front three to be razor sharp as usual and extend their potentially record-breaking winning run.

This match will be televised live on Sky Sports Premier League on Sunday afternoon, with kick off scheduled for 16:30 BST.

Prediction: Chelsea 1-2 Liverpool.

Match Betting Preview - West Ham United vs Manchester United Sunday 22nd September 2019, Premier League game at London Stadium.

West Ham United vs Manchester United
Sunday 22nd September 2019
FA Premier League, London Stadium

Sky Sports Premier League – 14:00 BST

West Ham United return to home soil as they host Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Hammers come into the weekends fixture unbeaten in their last four Premier League fixtures, with their only league defeat coming at the hands of the defending champions Manchester City on matchday one. Their opponents Manchester United are too on a positive run of form, losing once in their opening five fixtures so far this season.

Manchester United will be hoping they don’t suffer any type of midweek European hangover prior to this fixture. The Red Devils face Astana from Kazakhstan in their opening group match in the Europa League, and manager Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer will be expecting his side to deal with the load of fixtures in the best way possible.

This match is one of the oldest in English football history, with the first fixture between these two sides dating back to February 1911. The most recent encounter between these two sides ended in a 2-1 victory for United back in April, and SkyBet are offering odds of a repeat result of 8/1.

United’s summer signing Daniel James has really hit the ground running since joining the Red Devils. The Wales international who signed from Swansea has impressed with his direct approach and has scored three times so far this season. James made 38 appearances for Swansea last season, scoring five times; another two this season would match his tally of last seasons goal total. Daniel James to score this Sunday is priced at 11/4 on SkyBet.

I expect a tight fixture between these two sides, and I cannot see too much between them as a result. Both sides have started the season well, however Manchester United Have struggled on the road so far, failing to win in either game, and I don’t see that changing this weekend.   I believe both sides will strike in a scored draw.

The man in charge for this fixture is Anthony Taylor. Fresh from the midweek Champions League clash between PSG and Real Madrid, Taylor is back in action this weekend. The 40-year old has officiated seven matches so far this season, awarding a total of 35 yellow cards; with an average of 5 yellow cards per match. As a result, I would recommend a minimum of 30+ booking points for this fixture.

This match will be shown live on Sky Sports Premier League with kick off scheduled to take place at 14:00 BST.

  • Both teams to score in first half – yes – 3/1
  • Match result – draw – 13/5
  • 1-1, 2-2, or 3-3 draw – 10/3
  • A referee’s decision to be overturned using VAR – 5/4

West Bromwich Albion vs Huddersfield Town
Sunday 22nd September 2019
Sky Bet Championship

Sky Sports Football – Kick-Off: 12:00 BST

West Bromwich Albion return to the Hawthorns this weekend as they host Huddersfield Town in the SkyBet Championship on Sunday afternoon.

The Baggies currently sit 6th in the Championship standings, and Slaven Bilic’s side are the only team in the league yet to suffer defeat so far this season. The same cannot be said however for Huddersfield Town. The Terriers rank 23rd in the Championship and have lost 6 out of 7 of their league fixtures this season, only registering a point in the 1-1 draw with QPR. Following their wretched run of form, Jan Siewert parted company with the club, and Danny and Nicky Cowley were appointed, leaving their role at League one side Lincoln City.

The Cowley brother’s introduction to Championship management ended in a 2-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday, but there is now a sense of positivity amongst the Terriers supporters after a disappointing beginning to the season following the arrival of Danny and Nicky Cowley.

The last time these two sides met was in the Premier League campaign of 2017/18, a season to forget for all concerned with West Brom as they suffered the heartbreak of relegation. Huddersfield completed the double over the Baggies and boast a good record in recent years against this weekend’s opponents. West Brom have won only four of the last sixteen meetings against Huddersfield but will be expected to claim all three points this time round.

Huddersfield come into this fixture as heavy underdogs, especially considering the seriously contrasting form of the two sides. SkyBet are offering odds of 4/1 for an away win.

Grady Diangana on loan from Premier League side West Ham United has enjoyed a bright start with West Brom and has scored three times already this season for the Baggies. The DR Congo international previously worked under current manager Slaven Bilic at West Brom, and his contributions may well be an added extra to West Brom’s promotion hopes come the end of the season. Diangana to score and West Brom to win is priced at 12/2 on SkyBet.

I expect West Brom to come away with all three points, however I don’t think it will be as one sided as the two sides form would suggest. There is some hope for Huddersfield in the fact that West Brom are yet to keep a clean sheet in the league so far this season. BTTS may be a sensible pick to choose for this fixture. BTTS is priced at 8/11 on SkyBet.

The man in charge of this weekends fixture is Tim Robinson who has appeared in five matches so far this season, awarding 20 yellow cards in the process. This considered I would recommend a minimum of 30+ booking points for this match.

This match will be shown live on Sky Sports Football and kick off is scheduled to take place at 12:00 BST.
