Wolves vs Besiktas
Thursday 12th
December 2019
UEFA Europa League, Old Trafford

Live on BT Sport 2 – Kick Off: 20:00 GMT

Manchester United will host AZ Alkmaar in UEFA Europa League action this Thursday evening.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have really impressed in the past week, with wins over Tottenham and Manchester City in the Premier League. The Reds have already secured qualification to the knockout rounds. AZ Alkmaar are also confirmed into the next round but can finish with a flourish at the top of Group L with a win on Thursday.

Manchester United are priced at 17/20 to win the match by SkyBet and top the group. The Red Devils are starting to find some form with two huge scalps in the Premier League in recent weeks. They are devastating on the break with attacking options of Anthony Martial, Daniel James, Mason Greenwood and, of course, Marcus Rashford.

The latter has had his best season to date so far this season and if he does play, he is priced at 11/10 to score anytime.

AZ Alkmaar are priced at 3/1 to win the match away from home and make it ten matches unbeaten in all competitions. The Dutch outfit are flying high domestically and are second in Eredivisie. Their previous eight victories have all been to nil – an incredible achievement to show such resilience in defence. Going forward, Oussama Idrissi has been electric this season with nine league goals and two in the Europa League. He is priced at 14/5 to score anytime.

The referee for this match will be Swiss Sandro Scharer. When these two last met earlier in the group, it was a very dull 0-0 draw that saw just one card in the 90th minute. With both sides already through, the result it not the be all and end all – so don’t expect loads of booking points.

The match will be televised on BT Sport 2 HD and kicks off at 20:00.

Prediction: Manchester United 2-0 AZ Alkmaar

– The hosts are in great form with their attack in full flow. They will be too much to handle for the Dutch side.

Match Betting Preview - Birmingham City vs Middlesbrough - Friday 4th October 2019 - Sky Bet Championship game at St Andrew's.

Birmingham City vs Middlesbrough
Friday 4th October 2019
Sky Bet Championship, St Andrew’s

Live on Sky Sports Football – Kick Off: 19:45 BST

Birmingham City return to St Andrews on Friday night as they host Middlesbrough in the SkyBet Championship.

Both sides come into Friday evening’s fixture following a mixed set of results on Tuesday night, where both failed to win their respective matches. Boro drew 1-1 at home with Preston, whereas Blues were defeated 1-0 away at Wigan. The recent form of these two sides has been poor to say the least. Middlesbrough have won one of their last six matches, and they currently sit 19th in the Championship. Meanwhile Birmingham have lost each of their last three matches, and will want to return to winning ways, beginning with Friday night.

Birmingham’s Lukas Jutkiewicz has started this Championship season with three goals in eight matches. There is an added responsibility on the shoulders this season for the 30-year old, following the departure of last seasons top scorer Che Adams, who joined Southampton in the summer. Jutkiewicz netted fourteen times for Blues last season but failed to score in both encounters with Friday night’s opponents. Jutkiewicz to score anytime is priced at 2/1 on SkyBet.

If the recent head to head form between these two sides is anything to go by, then Middlesbrough will be fancying their chances ahead of this encounter. Boro have completed a league double over Birmingham for the last two seasons and are unbeaten in their last ten matches against them, a run which stretches back to March 2013.

The most recent meeting between the two was in January at St Andrews, where Middlesbrough came away with a 2-1 victory; a result which they will be desperate to repeat on Friday evening. Middlesbrough to win, and BTTS is priced at 7/1 on SkyBet.

The referee for this fixture is Jeremy Simpson. Simpson has taken charge of two Championship matches so far this season, administering six yellow cards in the process. This considered, I would recommend a maximum of 40+ booking points for this fixture.

This game will be broadcast live on Sky Sports football on Friday evening with kick-off scheduled to take place at 19:45 BST.

Despite the uninspiring form of these two sides I am predicting Birmingham to return to winning ways and claim all three points on Friday night. Middlesbrough’s form in general has been poor this season, and they have failed to win away from home this campaign. Under the lights, and on home soil I am expecting Birmingham to grab the win.

Prediction: Birmingham City 2-1 Middlesbrough.

Suggested Tips – Birmingham City vs Middlesbrough – (BET365)

  • First goalscorer – Alvaro Gimenez – (link no longer available).
  • Correct score – Birmingham City 2-1 – (link no longer available).

Suggested Tips – Birmingham City vs Middlesbrough – (SKYBET)

  • Birmingham Price Boost – Birmingham to win and BTTS – 11/2.
  • Correct Score Group Betting – Birmingham to win 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1 – 21/10.
  • Both Players to Score – Britt Assombalonga and Lukas Jutkiewicz both to score – 9/1.
  • To score 2+ goals – Middlesbrough – 21/10.
  • Half Time / Full Time – Birmingham/Birmingham – 11/4.
  • Away Over Corners Taken – 6+ Middlesbrough corners – 11/8.

Match Betting Preview - Everton vs Manchester City, Saturday 28th September 2019 - Premier League game at Goodison Park Stadium.

Everton v Manchester City
Saturday 28th September 2019

FA Premier League, Goodison Park

Live on Sky Sports Main Event – Kick Off: 17:30 BST

The Saturday late kick-off sees Man City travel to Goodison Park to take on the Toffees.

Manchester City may not be at the top of the table but they absolutely annihilated Watford last week with an impressive 8-0 masterclass. Their level of play this season so far has been different gravy, apart from that shock Norwich defeat. They are five points behind top of the league Liverpool so really need to focus and win points whenever they can to close that gap.

Everton come into this having suffered two successive defeats to Sheffield United and Bournemouth. However, their goal form at home was pretty decent until the last match against the Blades. They created good chances but only had the one shot on target, their performance was a lot better than the final score.

City will come out all guns blazing to keep their bid for the title alive. They were spectacular against Watford and having read Watford’s keeper Ben Foster’s comments after the game “They were scary at times. It was just relentless. You could see them opening us up and the chances developing in front of your eyes. It was absolutely no fun. In all honesty, it could have been double digits.” I can see them scoring a few goals again this time out.

Everton have conceded seven goals in their last three league matches so their defence looks to be a problem. With this in mind, City to win 3-0 is currently 17/2 with bet365 and looks to be a bet for me.

Since Marco Silva took charge, Everton haven’t really made much of an improvement and seem to making the same mistakes over and over again. They also seem to have a problem with scoring goals at times which is another reason I feel it could be goalless for them.

Raheem Sterling was back on top form on Tuesday night when they played Preston in the EFL Cup. Having not played in the Watford game, he nicked a goal and a nice assist all within 35 minutes. Bet365 are top price 4/1 for him to be first goalscorer. Richarlison looks to be Everton’s most likely first goalscorer and at may tempt a lot of punters with the 11/1 available at Skybet.

I just cannot see Everton beating City and it’s no surprise to see City 3/10 to win the game. .

Everton vs Manchester City will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports with kick off at 17:30 BST.

Prediction: Everton 0 – 3 Manchester City

Suggested Tips – Everton v Manchester City (BET365)

  • Correct Score – Man City 3-0 – (link no longer available).
  • First Goalscorer – Raheem Sterling –(link no longer available).

Match Betting Preview - Sheffield United vs Liverpool, Saturday 28th September 2019 - FA Premier League game at Bramall Lane Stadium.

Sheffield United vs Liverpool
Saturday 28th September 2019

FA Premier League, Bramall Lane

Live on BT Sport – Kick Off: 12:30 BST

Liverpool will be looking to continue their unbeaten streak when they head to Bramall Lane for the early kick-off on Saturday.

Klopp’s men are in top form at the moment winning all of their six games on the bounce to kick start their 2019/20 Premier League season. They have already opened up a five-point lead over second in the table, Manchester City

However, The Blades will be fielding a full team following their midweek 1-0 defeat against Sunderland. Chris Wilder’s side are currently sitting 10th in the table and have started the season in decent fashion, not giving points away easily.

It’s really hard to see this going Sheffield’s way even at the 8/1 available with bet365, I couldn’t back them for the win, even with counterfeit money. I can see them coming out and going for it like Norwich City and playing on the front foot but I just don’t see the same result.

Sheffield have a fairly talented squad truth be told but they are just lacking class finishers. Liverpool however ooze attacking skills and I could see them winning this with a score like 3-1, which at best price 11/1 with bet365 is a bet for me. The Blades have only failed to score in one of their six EPL games this season, so I have a feeling they might bang one in.

Goals from Roberto Firmino and Trent Alexander-Arnold against Chelsea saw Premier League history made as they became the first side to win their first six opening games in consecutive seasons. With all this in mind I just cannot see Liverpool not coming out of this with three points.

The referee for the match will be Anthony Taylor. Taylor has shown more yellow cards early on the season than any other referee. He has refereed five United games, and sent off Basham in a 3-0 win over Blackburn Rovers last season. The Blades have however been given three penalties across the five matches from Taylor.

Sheffield United vs Liverpool will be televised live in the UK on BT Sport with kick off at 12:30 BST.

Prediction: Sheffield United 1 – 3 Liverpool

Liverpool vs Newcastle United
Saturday 14th September 2019
FA Premier League,  Anfield

Live on BT Sport 1 – Kick-Off: 12:30 BST

The Premier league returns this weekend and matchday five kicks off at Anfield where Liverpool host Newcastle United.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side boast the only 100% record in the league, and many are expecting that run to extend at the end of proceedings on Saturday afternoon. The Red’s seem to have shaken off the disappointment of being narrowly pipped to the PL title last season. An enthralling title race between themselves and Manchester City went all the way to the wire, with Pep Guardiola’s side grabbing the silverware.

Newcastle’s start to life under new Manager Steve Bruce has been inconsistent to say the least. The Magpies have won only one of their opening four matches in the league, which came away at Tottenham Hotspur to add to Mauricio Pochettino’s worries.

A positive to take from Newcastle’s beginning to the season has been the showings of club record signing Joelinton. The summer signing from Hoffenheim grabbed his first goal of the season in the away win at Spurs, and had showed promise in his new colours, and offers a robust, physical presence up top. Joelinton to score anytime is priced at 5/1 on SkyBet.

Liverpool’s own Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino has started the new campaign sharply and has betted in his last two games. Firmino created Premier League history in the away win at Burnley, by becoming the first Brazilian to score 50 Premier League goals. Firmino to extend his scoring run on Saturday lunchtime and Liverpool to win is on SkyBet at 11/10.

In this fixture last season, Liverpool ran out convincing 4-0 winners. A repeat scoreline is priced at 17/2 on SkyBet.

The referee for this weekend’s encounter is Andre Marriner. Marriner has appeared 3 times in the league this season, awarding 9 yellow cards in the process averaging 3 per match. Marriner officiated Liverpool’s 2-1 away victory at Southampton. I would recommend a minimum of 20+ booking points.

There’s only one way where I see this game going, and that’s a convincing Liverpool win. Unbeaten at home in the league for over two years, and their dazzling front three seem to be firing on all cylinders this season, I am predicting a home win to nil. I don’t think Newcastle have the firepower to disrupt Liverpool at the back, and with the imperious Virgil Van Dijk its an even bigger ask. However, Liverpool have only kept one clean sheet this season and have conceded in both home matches this season, so there is a glimmer of hope for the visitors.

Liverpool vs Newcastle United will be televised live in the UK on BT Sport 1 with kick-off at 12:30 BST.

Match Betting Preview - Luton Town vs Middlesbrough. Friday 2nd August 2019, The Championship, Kenilworth Road. Sky Sports Football HD - Kick-Off: 19:45 BST.

Luton Town vs Middlesbrough
Friday 2nd August 2019
SkyBet Championship, Kenilworth Road

Live on Sky Sports Football HD – Kick-Off: 19:45 BST

Luton Town kick off the 2019/20 Championship season with their return to the second tier as they take on Middlesbrough at Kenilworth Road.

Last season’s League One champions are back in the Championship for the first time since 2007. Since, they’ve been to the conference and back but new manager Graham Jones’ side will be hoping to avoid relegation this term.

The Hatters have strengthened their squad with some seasoned Championship players such as Martin Cranie, Callum McManaman and Ryan Tunnicliffe. Star fullbacks James Justin and Jack Stacey have both departed for the Premier League, which has brought in some decent funds into the transfer kitty. A proven Championship striker is still very much the target in the window, whilst former Luton striker Isaac Vassell has been linked with a loan from Birmingham.

Survival is very much the aim for Jones’ men, although some are tipping them for a push into the top half of the table. Free-flowing, attacking football was the bedrock of their promotion last term and they will want to continue with that philosophy against a higher class of opponent. Their form at Kenilworth Road will be key to their ambitions. The small, compact stadium can be quite intimidating for visiting teams which could give Luton the edge in their key matches.

Middlesbrough are embarking on a new chapter after swapping Tony Pulis for Jonathan Woodgate. That change brings a new philosophy to the squad after 18 months of adapting to Pulis’ direct style. As a result, Aden Flint has been sold to Cardiff, with Woodgate preferring a much more attractive style of play.

New defender Marc Bola has joined from Blackpool and Marcus Browne will add some creativity in midfield. However, they’re still missing a talented winger to provide service for Britt Assombalonga and Ashley Fletcher. Stewart Downing has gone, as had Martin Braithwaite, whilst the club never really replaced Adam Traore who left 12 months ago.

Oliver Langford is the referee for this match. The Englishman accumulated an average booking points total of 30.6 across 42 Championship games last season. Therefore, I would recommend a maximum of 50+ booking points for this fixture.

Kenilworth Road will be rocking on Friday night and the players will match that enthusiasm on the field, no doubt. With that in mind, I think the Hatters can get something from this game.

I’m going to go for a draw, but don’t be shocked if Luton take all three points and provide an early upset in the Championship season. Luton Town vs Middlesbrough will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports Football with kick off at 19:45 BST.

Prediction: Luton Town 1-1 Middlesbrough

Cardiff vs Burnley
Sunday 30th
 September 2018
FA Premier League, Cardiff City Stadium

Live on Sky Sports Premier League – Kick-Off: 16:00 GMT

Cardiff vs Burnley – In what is already a six-pointer, Cardiff host Burnley in a relegation battle with both sides desperate for three points.

Burnley picked up a first win of the season last time out in a surprising 4-0 hammering of high-flying Bournemouth. Other than that, it has been clear to see there is some previous season and Europa League burnout. Sean Dyche’s side have looked completely distant from the team that finished seventh last year.

Not to mention the humiliating exit to struggling League One side Burton Albion in this week’s Carabao Cup. Before beating Bournemouth, The Clarets’ only point of the season came in a 0-0 draw with Southampton. Dyche will be hoping Saturday was indicative of future performances, not Tuesday. Sitting in 16th, no one is expecting Burnley to replicate last season’s achievements, but wins need to come, and fast.

In contrast, it was always going to be a struggle for newly promoted Cardiff City. Neil Warnock worked wonders last season to promote the South-Welsh side on a small budget compared to rivals. As such, Cardiff found themselves favourites for the drop. The first six games have done nothing to change anyone’s opinion on that, with just two points so far.

Those came against Huddersfield and Newcastle, in 0-0 draws. Perhaps more worrying, is that the relegation zone consists of those three sides. Cardiff are 19th, ahead of Huddersfield, but only based on alphabetical order. Both teams have conceded a league-worst total of 14 goals, whilst scoring the fewest amount with three too. The signs look ominous for The Bluebirds with a squad that looks devoid of the necessary quality needed to survive.

Then all signs point to this being billed as an incredibly important fixture. Burnley need to win to stamp an authority over supposed lesser teams, whilst Cardiff will see this as a vital opportunity to secure their first win back in the Premier League. Home form against rivals is so often a defining factor in a team’s attempts to avoid relegation.

Perhaps surprisingly, Burnley’s issue has not been scoring goals, but conceding them. However, with a strong backline of Ben Mee, James Tarkowski and an in-form Joe Hart, that should come good. Matej Vydra scored his first for the club last week, and if the Czech international can resume his scintillating form from last season, albeit in the Championship with Derby, then Burnley have a player on their hands.

Martin Atkinson has refereed in every Premier League matchweek so far, and will be the man at the helm here. Atkinson has given out 21 yellows and no reds so far, averaging just 3.5 cards per game. Only four teams have received more than Cardiff’s eight yellows, with Burnley’s figure just three more. The signs point to low booking points. However, in what will surely be a combative game, that could all change.

This may not be the most exciting match the Premier League has to offer. This may not showcase the highest quality players the league has to offer. It will, however, be an intense battle between two teams desperate to put three points on the board. It will come down to who wants it more.

Cardiff vs Burnley will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports Premier League with kick off at 19:45 GMT.

Ostersunds vs Arsenal
Thursday 15th February
Europa League, Round of 32 -1st Leg

Jamkraft Arena, BT Sport 3 – 6:00pm

Ostersunds vs Arsenal – Arsenal seek Europa League glory to salvage their season and a trip to Sweden against Ostersunds in the Last-32 is the first obstacle in doing so.

After a crushing defeat to bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the North-London derby, Arsenal’s top-four hopes hang in the balance. Wenger’s side are in 6th place, now seven points away from Spurs and eight adrift of Chelsea in the Champions League places.

Winning the Europa League remains the most realistic chance of qualifying for Europe’s elite competition next season, and after defeat to Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup it is expected Wenger will play a full-strength side to do so.

Ostersunds are currently enjoying the best period of their existence. Established in 1996, Englishman Graham Potter has led the Swedish outfit from the fourth tier in 2011 (averaging attendances of 783) to the top division in just half a decade.

A fantastic victory in the Svenska Cupen (Sweden’s primary cup competition) signified the magnificent rise of the club, but perhaps even more excitingly has taken them on a European adventure for the first time in their history.

Finishing 2nd in a group that also contained Athletic Bilbao, Hertha BSC and Zorya Luhansk continues the fairy-tale and has rewarded the club with their greatest-ever fixture – a clash with English giants Arsenal.

When looking for clean sheets the blatant choice here would be to go for Arsenal, they have kept nine this season – only the top five and Burnley have more. The fact they are overwhelming favourites is another matter. Being prone to a defensive mishap it wouldn’t be too far-fetched to see Ostersunds on the scoresheet, however. It would probably take a miracle for Potter’s side to deny Arsenal the away goal for 90 minutes though.

David Fernandez Borbalan has been named in charge of this one, the Spaniard has been very active in La Liga this term – giving out 62 yellow cards in his 12 matches. This places him 7th from 20 in Spain’s top tier for average cards per match at a rate of 5.64. Arsenal are yet to receive a red card in the Premier League this year and have picked up a middling 42 yellows, so shouldn’t offer too much in terms of headaches for the referee.

With the Swedish league not starting until April, Ostersunds may not be up to speed in dealing with an Arsenal side deep in the midst of a multi-faceted season.

But, maybe that means the underdogs have had longer to prepare and focus their energy on what would be the most remarkable of giant-killings. There’s only one way to find out.

Prediction – Ostersunds 1-3 Arsenal

Realistically, Arsenal should be far too strong for the Swedish counterparts and easily push them aside.

Real Madrid vs PSG - Match Preview - Wednesday 14 February, Champions League 2 Round

Real Madrid vs PSG
Wednesday 14th February, Bernabeu
Champions League – 2nd Round – 1st Leg

BT Sport 3 –  7:45 pm

Real Madrid vs PSG – Defending Champions Real Madrid take on PSG at the Bernabeu in the first-leg of their Champions League knockout tie.

After a disappointing domestic season, Madrid will be looking to restore their reputation in Europe. Sat in fourth, the reigning league champions sit 17 points behind Barcelona. With the league title long gone, their main focus has to be trying to catch second-placed Atletico Madrid, who are currently ten points ahead of them.

Despite struggling for most of this term, Zinedine Zidane’s sides’ form has improved recently, with four wins in their last six matches. With 12 goals in their last two home games, it isn’t goals that will dictate Madrid’s future in this competition. With Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos both struggling with injuries, Los Blancos have conceded 23 goals in 22 games. Whilst this doesn’t seem a bad return, it is three more goals than Barcelona and Atletico combined.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s league form has been under much scrutiny this season. The Portuguese forward has 11 goals this season from 18 games; a much lower return than previous seasons. In the Champions League, however, the former Manchester United forward has been in scintillating form. With nine goals from six games, Ronaldo has etched his name into Champions League history again this season. No player had previously scored in every group stages game before the five-time Ballon d’Or broke the record back in December last year.

Many will feel that PSG come into this game as favourites, despite facing the reigning Champions. Unai Emery’s side topped their group, collecting 15 points and beating Bayern Munich in the process. Having assembled one of the most expensive forward lines in history, it is little surprise to see Les Parisiens top of the goalscoring charts. With Edinson Cavani now joined by Kylian Mbappe and Neymar in attack, there is no defence in the world that wouldn’t be nervous about facing this potent trio. With 69 goals between the three in all competitions, PSG look like serious contenders for this competition and could make a real statement by toppling the reigning Champions on their own turf.

Gianluca Rocchi has been appointed as the referee for this crucial clash. The Italian has officiated ten games in Serie A this season, with an average of 4.9 cards per match. He has shown 46 yellow cards and two red cards this season, so booking points could be a good bet to go with.

With the amount of attacking talent on display on Wednesday night, it’s impossible to not predict goals. I think, despite their poor domestic form, Real Madrid will come out on top. Whilst PSG have been very impressive this season, the biggest players show their true ability in the biggest moments and I think Madrid will secure a crucial victory.

Real Madrid vs PSG will be televised live in the UK on BT Sport 3, with kick off at 19:45 GMT.

Prediction: Real Madrid 2-1 PSG.

pdc-european-tour-day-3

The PDC European Tour is on the road yet again, this time in Austria. The twists and turns of the opening day came in classic PDC fashion, with many low ranked individuals looking to progress through the PDC Order of Merit. German, Rene Eidams, is the 169th in the World Rankings but impressively overcame 29th ranked, Justin Pipe, 6-5 in possibly the greatest match of Eidams career so far. 91st ranked Finish player, Kim Viljanen, beat 97th ranked Polish player, Ratajski Krzysztof, 6-5 in arguably the most entertaining match of the opening day.

Clearly the fans favourite, Mensur Suljovic, will face Ronny Huybrechts in the round of 16. Mensur enters this tournament in hot form, with 2017 being possibly the best year of his career so far. Ronny is coming on off the back of a poor individual performance at the world cup where he was partnered with brother, Kim Huybrechts. Suljovic, currently 7th in the PDC Order of Merit should beat his Belgian opponent and I fancy him to go very far in this tournament with a home crowd backing.

SULJOVIC  TO WIN – 1/7

World number one, Michael van Gerwen, enters the tournament with a match-up against unranked Austrian, Christian Kallinger. Van Gerwen ran riot in the previous PDC European Tour, winning the final 6-3 against Austrian, Mensur Suljovic. The Dutchman should have no problems with this opponent, we should see a whitewash here.

MvG TO WIN – 1/100

Scotland’s answer to an entertainer, Peter Wright, also enters the competition with a match against Finish player, Kim Viljanen. As aforementioned, Kim impressed in his previous match against Krzysztof but should find the World number three a little too tough. The Scotsman will be looking to bounce back after his and team-mate, Gary Anderson’s, embarrassing exit from the World Cup of darts to Singapore in the first round. Wright should go far in the tournament, as he usually does.

WRIGHT TO WIN – 1/100

Another player who has been impressing lately is 20-year-old, Martin Schindler. The German recently paired up with fellow countryman and 20-year-old, Max Hopp, to represent Geramny at the World Cup in front of a home crowd. Schindler was a portrait of a youngster with no fear going toe to toe with some of the PDC’s best. Schindler faces a tough test in Ian White, can he carry on his impressive form, wouldn’t want to bet against him right now.

SCHINDLER TO WIN – 1/100

Suggested Bet:

Suljovic, Smith & Norris all to win their matches – 3.55/1 (odds by Skybet)
