Schalke vs Manchester City
Wednesday 20th February 2019, Veltins-Arena
UEFA Champions League – Round of 16

BT Sport 2 – 20:00 GMT

Bundesliga side Schalke will play host to Premier League champions Manchester City in the first leg of their round of 16 tie in the UEFA Champions League.

Both clubs had rather simple routes through to the knockout stages. The Germans came second in Group D however finished seven points above Galatasaray in third. Meanwhile, Manchester City topped Group F with 13 points.

Schalke are priced at a huge 10/1 to win this match by SkyBet. The hosts enter this match on a pretty bad run of form – especially considering they face the tournament favourites. They have just two wins from their last seven matches in all competitions. However, their home European record makes for much better reading. They are unbeaten in nine home European matches and a player hoping he can get the crowd off their feet will be Mark Uth. The striker has not had a great season in front of goal however has scored in the campaign this season. He is 4/1 to score anytime.

They often don’t have a boring match either in this competition. Their last eight home matches in the Champions League has seen them concede an average of 2.25 goals. They are 18/1 to win and for both teams to score.

Manchester City are easy favourites for this match and are priced at 1/4 to win. Pep Guardiola will be hoping his side can still win the quadruple this season. They have won nine of their last ten matches in all competitions – scoring 37 goals and conceding 4. It’s safe to say they are in form. One man in red hot form is Sergio Aguero. The Argentine has scored two hatricks in his last three matches. He will be a nightmare for the German defence and is 11/4 to score first.

The referee for this match will be Spaniard Carlos de Cerro Grande. The referee will likely be going to his pocket a fair few times, as European knockout matches always produce plenty of booking points. 50+ booking points are priced at 11/10 by SkyBet.

Schalke vs Manchester City will be televised live in the UK on BT Sport 2 and kicks off at 20:00 GMT.

Prediction: Schalke 0 – 3 Manchester City

– The visitors are stronger in all departments. An away crowd shouldn’t affect their performance.

Match Betting Preview - Derby County vs Millwall. Wednesday 20th February 2019, The Championship, Pride Park. Sky Sports Football HD - Kick-Off: 19:45 GMT.

Derby County vs Millwall
Wednesday 20th February 2019
The Championship, Pride Park

Sky Sports Football – Kick-Off: 19:45pm

Derby County vs Millwall: Derby County will be looking to refocus their attention on the Championship and move back into the top six with a win over struggling Millwall.

The Rams were knocked out of the FA Cup at the weekend as they went down 2-0 to Brighton and Hove Albion. That result allows Frank Lampard’s side to focus on their dwindling promotion campaign. Derby sit seventh in the table, two points behind sixth-placed Bristol City. If they were to win on Wednesday night it would take them level on points with Middlesbrough, with the same numbers of games played. In the league, they’ve won just three of their last ten games, although each of those wins came at Pride Park. It’s that home from that has been the bedrock of their promotion push – they’ve only lost twice on their own patch this season. Derby are fifth overall in the Championship home form table, which they’ll have to maintain to secure a place in the top six.

Millwall were also in FA Cup action and sealed a place in the last eight thanks to a 1-0 win over AFC Wimbledon. The Lions will take on Brighton for a place in the semi-final. In the league, Millwall are just two points above the relegation zone. Neil Harris’ side have, however, played two games less than Reading and Rotherham, who are directly below them. They have won just three of their last 16 games in the Championship, which is a major concern. On the road, they’re without a win since January 1st, which was their only away win this season, away at Ipswich. That puts them fourth bottom in the away table, having taken just seven points from 15 games.

James Linington is the referee for this fixture. The Englishman has officiated 10 second-tier matches this season. In that time, he has accumulated an average booking points total of 32. Therefore, I would advise a maximum of 50+ total points for this fixture.

The respective records of these two sides should make this game relatively straight forwards. Derby are very good at home and Millwall are poor away. Therefore, I’m backing the rams to get all three points.

Derby Country vs Millwall will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports Football with kick-off at 19:45 GMT.

Prediction: Derby County 2-0 Millwall

Suggested Tips – Derby County vs Millwall – (BET365)

  • Correct Score –  Derby County win 2-0 – (link no longer available).
  • First Goalscorer – Jack Marriott – (link no longer available).

Suggested Tips – Derby County vs Millwall – (SKYBET)

  • To Score and Win – Martyn Waghorn – 10/3.
  • Winning Margin – Derby to Win by Exactly 2 Goals – 7/2.
  • Scorecast Boost (Double Chance) – Harry Wilson to score first and either Derby to win 2-1 or Derby to win 2-0 – 25/1.

Match Betting Preview - Liverpool vs Bayern Munich. Tuesday 19th February 2019, UEFA Champions League - Round of 16, Anfield. Live on BT Sport 2 – Kick-Off: 20:00 GMT.

Liverpool vs Bayern Munich
Tuesday 19th February 2019, Anfield
UEFA Champions League – Round of 16

BT Sport 2 – 20:00 GMT

Liverpool vs Bayern: Liverpool will be hoping to take make the most of home advantage when they host Bayern Munich in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League knock-out tie.

The Reds weren’t in action this weekend after being knocked out of the FA Cup in the third round. That timely break has set Jurgen Klopp’s men up nicely for this meeting on Tuesday night. Last time out, the Reds comfortably dispatched of Bournemouth 3-0. Gini Wijnaldum was back in the side, and on the score sheet, after missing the previous two games. The Dutch midfielder has been Jurgen Klopp’s most consistent selection in the heart of midfield this season. Wijnaldum has established himself as a core member in this Reds side and his energy will be vital against the German champions. Sadio Mane opened the scoring against the Cherries, which is his fourth goal in as many games. The Malian international is hitting a hot streak of form at just the right time.

Bayern Munich recovered from twice going behind as they Augsburg 3-2 on Friday night. Niko Kovac’s side were far from convincing and needed the hot Kingsley Coman to rescue them as he bagged a brace. The French international limped off with an injury in that game but has been given the all-clear to travel to England. Bayern sit two points behind league leaders Borussia Dortmund but having played a game extra. After six straight league title, it would be a massive underachievement if they were to miss out on the Bundesliga this year. That has cranked up the pressure even further on Kovac, ahead of this tie.

Gianluca Rocchi is the referee for this game. The Italian official plies his trade in Serie A and has averaged 4.89 cards across nine matches this season. Therefore, I would recommend a maximum of 60+ total booking points for this fixture.

Liverpool’s speed and fluidity could cause Bayern major issues on the counter-attack. The Reds’ form makes them favourites for this game, in my eyes. As a result, I’m going for a home win.

Prediction: Liverpool 3-1 Bayern Munich

Suggested Tips – Liverpool vs Bayern Munich – (BET365)

  • Correct Score – Liverpool win 3-1 – (link no longer available).

Suggested Tips – Liverpool vs Bayern Munich – (SKYBET)

  • Winning Margin – To win by 2 Goals – Liverpool – 6/1.
  • Scorecast Boost (Double Chance) – Mohammed Salah to score first and Liverpool to win 2-0 or 2-1 – 20/1.
  • Both Players to Score – Sadio Mane and Robert Lewandowski 7/1

Match Betting Preview - QPR vs West Brom. Tuesday 19th February 2019, The Championship, Loftus Road. Sky Sports Football HD - Kick-Off: 19:45 GMT.

QPR vs West Brom
Tuesday 19th February 2019
The Championship, Loftus Road

Sky Sports Football – Kick-Off: 19:45pm

SkyBet Championship football returns to our screens Tuesday night as QPR host promotion chasers West Brom.

The hosts will be hoping that the home crowd can give them a boost and get them out of their bad form. They have lost six of their last eight matches in all competitions. Meanwhile, the visitors will want to continue climbing after their 2-0 victory away at Aston Villa last time out.

The last time these two met, it produced goals galore. West Brom were rampant in the second half and won 7-1. SkyBet aren’t even offering a market on that score line, however 6-1 is priced at 250/1 in either teams’ favour.

QPR are priced at 21/10 to win on Tuesday night by SkyBet. The home side have had an awful start to 2019, picking up just one point on New Years Day. That is the worst form in the whole of the EFL. That being said, Matt Smith has been making a name for himself at the spearhead of the QPR attack. The striker has scored three goals in his last two league matches and is 6/1 to score and for his side to win.

West Brom are slightly lower odds at 6/5 – and tempting odds at that. The Baggies have continued their scoring form and are second highest in the league – one behind league leaders Norwich. They have managed to score in all of their last 16 matches in the league and pivotal to that record is striker Jay Rodriguez. The attacker has 17 gaols for the season and is price boosted at 3/1 to score and his team to win the match. Dwight Gayle is suspended for the match.

Their defence has also improved as they have not conceded a goal on the road for a total of 392 minutes.

The referee for this match will be John Brooks. The official has averaged 44.6 booking points in his 12 Championship matches. It’s safe to say he isn’t shy with his cards. Over 50+ booking points are priced at 13/8.

QPR vs West Brom will be televised on Sky Sports Football HD and kicks off at 19:45.

Prediction: QPR 1 – West Brom 2

– The visitors attacking strength will be the difference against an out of sorts defence.

Suggested Tips – West Bromwich Albion vs Nottingham Forest – (BET365)

Suggested Tips – West Bromwich Albion vs Nottingham Forest – (SKYBET)

Match Betting Preview - Chelsea vs Manchester United. Monday 18th February 2019, FA Cup Fifth Round, Stamford Bridge. Live on BBC One - Kick-Off: 20:00 GMT.

Chelsea vs Manchester United
Monday 18th February 2019
FA Cup – Fifth Round, Stamford Bridge

Live on BBC One – Kick-Off: 20:00 GMT

Chelsea vs Manchester United: Two of England’s giants go toe to toe for a place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup as Chelsea host Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues bounced back from their 6-0 mauling at Manchester City with a 2-1 win over Malmo in midweek. That result may prove more important than first suggested. The Europa League could prove to be the Blues’ best route into the Champions League, as they languish sixth in the Premier League. Although Maurizio Sarri’s side are only a point behind Manchester United, who occupy fourth spot, they would be silly to dismiss the importance of the EL. It’s that same competition that led them into Europe in 2012. Similarly, a cup triumph for Sarri would not go amiss. They’re already in the final for the Carabao Cup, which takes place next weekend, so another run in this competition would be superb. Realistically, Chelsea have a chance to end the season with three trophies, which isn’t to be sniffed at.

United will be wanting to bounce back from their first defeat under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, after losing 2-0 to PSG in midweek. The Red Devils were outclassed by the French champions and have it all to do in Paris. Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard were forced off with injuries in that match and, as a result, I’d be surprised to see them feature on Monday night. Paul Pogba was also sent off on Tuesday, but he is eligible to play in this game. On the road, United have won every game under Solskjaer, so they will still come into this tie thinking they can get a positive result. United’s heritage in this competition means that OGS will take it seriously and name his strongest possible side.

Kevin Friend is the referee for this fixture. The Englishman has officiated 12 top-flight matches this season. In that time, he has accumulated an average booking points total of 40.4. Therefore, I would advise a maximum of 60+ total points for this fixture.

This is no doubt the game of the round and both sides will be out to prove a point. Chelsea will be desperate not to get rolled over after last weekend’s disappointment. Therefore,  I think they will ensure they don’t lose this tie within the 90 minutes at minimum.

Chelsea vs Manchester United will be televised live in the UK on BBC One with kick off at 20:00 GMT.

Prediction: Chelsea 1-1 Manchester United

We have a classic FA Cup tie on our hands as Doncaster Rovers will host Premier League Crystal Palace in a fifth-round tie.

The hosts saw off Oldham Athletic in the last round with a penalty in the 90thminute the decider in a 2-1 victory. Meanwhile, Palace shocked many as they beat Tottenham in a comprehensive 2-0 victory away from home.

Doncaster are high odds for this match as SkyBet have priced them at 9/2 to win the match. Doncaster face their proper first test in this competition at home against Premier League opposition. However, recent form will have them high on confidence as they are unbeaten in 5 matches in all competitions – winning three of them. John Marquis in attack has been a joy to watch this season and has taken League One by storm with 18 goals to his name. He is 21/10 to score anytime.

Benjamin White scored the deciding goal from the spot in their last round win. He is oprice boosted at a huge 22/1 to score first.

The visitors are favourites for this fifth-round match-up and are priced at 3/5 to be victorious. The Premier League outfit enter the match unbeaten in four matches however still have to worry about the relegation battle. Their last round match saw them beat Spurs 2-0. Since that match they have managed to coup Michy Batshuayi on loan – a great acquisition. The striker is reportedly expected to make his first start for the club on Sunday and is 8/5 to score anytime.

Although it has been a few seasons, Palace’s record against Doncaster does not make for pretty reading. They have failed to beat them in last three encounters, drawing twice. They are 9/4 to win and for both teams to score.

The referee for this match will be the ever-flamboyant Mike Dean. Dean is a renowned no-nonsense referee and has produced the most booking points this season. He has an average of 50.4 booking points from his 13 top flight matches.

Match Betting Preview - Swansea City vs Brentford. Sunday 17th February 2019, FA Cup Fifth Round, Liberty Stadium. Live on BBC Wales - Kick-Off: 16:00 GMT.

Swansea City vs Brentford
Sunday 17th February 2019
FA Cup – Fifth Round,  Liberty Stadium

Live on BBC Wales – Kick-Off: 16:00 GMT

The FA Cup fifth round will see two Championship clubs battle it out for a place in the quarter finals. The hosts, Swansea City, have made it back to back seasons reaching this round for the first time since 1964/65. They dispatched of Gillingham in the least round with ease. Meanwhile, Brentford needed a replay to settle the score against Barnet in a tie they eventually won 3-1.

Swansea City are priced at 13/8 by SkyBet to win this tie. Recent home form is in favour of Graham Potter’s side – who are unbeaten in their last five matches. Their last round match-up against Gillingham was a routine victory as they ran out 4-1 victors. Oliver McBurnie was on the score sheet that match and is the team’s top goalscorer this season. Despite losing their last match against Leeds, McBurnie took his total to 14 for the league season and is 6/4 to score anytime this Sunday.

Swansea love to take part in some interesting cup ties, as seven of their previous eight FA Cup ties have had over 2.5 goals in them. SkyBet are offering 5/6 on over 2.5 goals in this match.

It seems the bookmakers can’t decide and have also priced Brentford at 13/8 to win this match.  Brentford beat Barnet in the last round however required a replay to do so. They will be hoping their torrid away form this season wont haunt them, with just two wins from 18 competitive matches on the road this season. Striker Neal Maupay is in hot form right now – with six goals in his last eight. He is also 6/4 to score anytime.

SkyBet are offering 6/1 for both McBurnie and Naupay to score.

The referee for this match will be Stuart Attwell. The official has been one of the more lenient in the Premier League this season and has averaged 30 booking points in his 9 top flight outings.

The match will be televised on BBC Wales and kicks off at 16:00.

Prediction: Swansea City 1-1 Brentford

– Just like the bookmakers I am finding this is a tough one to call. Could be a single moment of magic.

Bristol City vs Wolves
Sunday 17th February 2019
FA Cup – Fifth Round,  Ashton Gate

Live on BT Sport 2 – Kick-Off: 13:00 GMT

The FA Cup fifth round is upon us with plenty of clubs outside the ‘big six’ still hopeful of pulling off a dream. Two of those teams meet this Sunday as Bristol City host Premier League Wolves.

The home side beat fellow Championship side Bolton Wonderers 2-1 in the last round. Wolves needed a replay against Shrewsbury to settle the tie. They won the replay 3-2.

Bristol City are priced at 18/5 to win the match by SkyBet – high odds considering their recent league form. The home side are in red hot form with 9 wins on the bounce in all competitions. They have given their crowd a lot of cheering to do with six home wins in a row, conceding just three times. Famara Diedhiou has been the main man in attack this season. The striker has nine league goals and is 13/5 to score anytime.

Recent meetings do not go in the home sides favour. They have won just once against Wolves in their last five encounters. All of those matches have seen over 2.5 goals. You can get odds of 11/10 for over 2.5 goals.

Wolves are priced at 5/6 to win the match and progress to the quarter finals. Much like their opponents, Wolves are in good form and are unbeaten in six matches in all competitions. Loanee striker Raul Jiminez has been a great acquisition and could be the difference this Sunday. The Mexican has 9 league goals and 5 assists this season. He is 6/4 to score anytime.

The last time these two met, the away side won 2-1. SkyBet are offering 8/1 for the score line to repeat itself.

The referee for this match will be Martin Atkinson. The official has averaged 33.9 booking points in his 14 Premier League matches this season, however which lots at stake over 90 minutes it could be a feisty encounter.

Match Betting Preview - Newport County vs Manchester City. Saturday 16th February 2019, FA Cup Fifth Round, Rodney Parade. Live on BT Sport 2 - Kick-Off: 17:30 GMT.

Newport County vs Manchester City
Saturday 16th February 2019
FA Cup – Fifth Round, Rodney Parade

Live on BT Sport 2 – Kick-Off: 17:30 GMT

Newport vs Manchester City: The premier league champions take a trip to the fourth-tier of English football as they take on Newport County at Rodney Parade, fresh from beating Chelsea 6-0.

City regained their spot at the top of the Premier League with a thumping 6-0 win over Maurizio Sarri’s men at the weekend. Sergio Aguero claimed back-to-back hat-tricks, equalling Alan Shearer’s record in the process. Aguero now has the joint-highest trebles (11) in the Premier League history. Raheem Sterling also bagged a brace as he continues his push for the ‘PFA player of the year award’, whilst Ilkay Gundogan got the other strike. After netting 11 goals in a week, this will be a much different task for City.

One thing is for sure, Pep Guardiola will not allow his side to become complacent. In the previous rounds, City have spanked Rotherham and Burnley, by a combined 12-0 aggregate. Whilst Newport will have dreams of another dramatic upset, City know this is their tie to lose. With a maximum of two of the big six making the last eight, they have a great chance for the treble.

Newport come into this game off the back of two major cup shocks. Both of their wins have come at Rodney Parade. They beat Leicester 2-1 in the third round, and Middlesbrough 2-0 in a fourth-round replay. Since that win over Tony Pulis’ side, they have won one and lost one, both by a 1-0 scoreline. Michael Flynn’s side are marooned in mid-table in League Two. They sit 15th, 15 points above the bottom three and eight points off the play-offs. Padraig Amond is their top scorer this season with 17 goals and seven assists – He’s averaged a goal every 196 minutes this campaign.

Andre Marriner is the referee for this fixture. The Englishman has officiated 13 top-flight matches this season. In that time, he has accumulated an average booking points total of 32.3. Therefore, I would advise a maximum of 60+ total points for this fixture.

Manchester City have shown that they don’t tend to show mercy on lower-league opponents, having smashed Burton for nine and Rotherham for seven this season. With that in mind, it’s hard to see anything but an away win.

Newport County vs Manchester City will be televised live in the UK on BT Sport 2 with kick off at 17:30 GMT.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Derby County
Saturday 16th February 2019
FA Cup – Fifth Round, American Express Community Stadium

Live on BT Sport 2 – Kick-Off: 12:30 GMT

Brighton vs Derby: Brighton will be hoping to end a poor run of form when they host Frank Lampard’s Derby County to the Amex Stadium.

Chris Hughton’s men were beaten 3-1 by Burnley on Saturday night. That result dragged the Seagulls back into the relegation dogfight. Although they sit 14th in the table, Brighton are just three points ahead of 18th-placed Southampton. A run in the FA Cup has proven to be a welcome distraction, having beaten Bournemouth and West Brom away from home. Those two victories are Brighton’s only wins in their last eight games, which is a run they need to address. Goals have been their main problem, they’ve only scored six times in their last seven games. Glenn Murray’s strikes have dried up, but there is nobody else stepping up to help him. The Englishman did score a brace in the last round, however.

Derby beat Accrington Stanley in the last round of the cup but did Southampton in round three. It’s another away trip for Lampard’s men, who will be hoping to build on a 2-0 win at the weekend. The Rams sit seventh in the table, just behind Bristol City who occupy the final play-off position. Martyn Waghorn grabbed a brace at the weekend, playing in a more central role. With Jack Marriott missing with an ankle injury, he could be the man to fire Derby into the last eight. The former Ipswich striker also scored the winner in the last round at Accrington.

David Coote is the referee for this fixture. The Englishman has officiated 4 second-tier matches this season. In that time, he has accumulated an average booking points total of 31.4. Therefore, I would advise a maximum of 60+ total points for this fixture.

Brighton aren’t in the best of form and won’t be relishing this fixture. Derby are renowned for turning up against the ‘bigger’ sides. Therefore, I’m going to plump for a cup upset and back the Rams for a spot in the quarter-finals.
