Sporting Lisbon vs Arsenal
Thursday 25th October 2018, Jose Alvalade
UEFA Europa League – Group E Qualifier

BT Sport 1 – 17:55 GMT.

Sporting Lisbon vs Arsenal: Arsenal face their toughest Europa League assignment as they take on Sporting Lisbon looking for their 11th consecutive win in all competitions.

The Gunners extended their run to ten games on Monday night, coming from behind to beat Leicester 3-1. Mesut Ozil was the star of the show as he orchestrated a scintillating fightback. The German scored the first before playing major roles in the second and third which saw the Gunners run out deserved winners. Prior to Ozil’s intervention, Leicester had looked value for their lead, causing major problems. With Sokratis Papastathopolous injured, Rob Holding deputised in defence. After picking up an early booking, the Englishman could have easily conceded a penalty, with the score at 0-0. That further underlined the need for patience as Unai Emery moulds his squad over the coming seasons.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang continued his fine form in front of goal with another brace off the bench. The Gabonese striker achieved the same feat in their victory over Fulham a fortnight ago. With Alexandre Lacazette playing so well, Emery has a real headache to get his two star strikers on the field together, in a suitable formation. Having started the last two on the bench, Aubameyang could be a great bet for first goalscorer If he starts this match.

Sporting Lisbon have had a tricky start to their league campaign. They sit in fifth place in the Primeira Liga, four points behind league leaders Benfica. They have, however, won five of their last seven games in all competitions, including both of their Europa League matches. Former Manchester United winger Nani is their top scorer this season, with three goals and two assists in seven league matches.

Damir Skomina is the referee for this game. The Slovenian official has an averaged 4.30 card per game across 150 games. As a result, I would recommend a maximum booking points total of 60+ points for this game.

Whilst this is still Arsenal’s toughest game in Group E, I’d still expect them to win. Much will depend on the side Emery fields, and how many youngsters he starts. Either way, I think they will get another victory, albeit by a narrow margin.

Sporting Lisbon vs Arsenal will be televised live in the UK on BT Sport 1 with kick off at 17:55 GMT.

Prediction: Sporting Lisbon 1-2 Arsenal

Match Betting Preview - Liverpool vs Crvena Zvezda. Wednesday 24th October 2018, UEFA Champions League, Group C Qualifier, Anfield. Live on BT Sport 2 – Kick-Off: 20:00 GMT.

Liverpool vs Crvena Zvezda
Tuesday 18th September 2018, Anfield
UEFA Champions League – Group C Qualifier

BT Sport 2 – 20:00 GMT.

Liverpool vs Crvena Zvezda: Liverpool will be looking to bounce back from defeat again Napoli last time out and claim top spot in Group C when they take on Crvena Zvezda at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are unbeaten since that defeat in Naples three weeks ago, having drawn with Manchester City and beaten Huddersfield since. Their win over the Terriers at the weekend was scrappy, but a hallmark of a good side; winning without playing well. The Reds remain joint top of the Premier League, level on points with Manchester City. Mohamad Salah scored the decisive goal at the weekend, as he showed signs of returning to his best form. The Egyptian scored on international duty as well, which could kick-start his season needs. Without Sadio Mane and Roberto Firimino, it was vital Salah stepped up to the plate to secure three points.

The Reds hold the joint-best defensive record in the league, having only shipped three goals in nine games. City hold an identical record, which comes as no surprise given they are the top two sides. Liverpool’s front three of Salah, Firmino and Mane are yet to reach the heights of last campaign, but there improved defensive form is what has kept them up at the top of the table. Virgil van Dijk put in another mammoth display, alongside Dejan Lovren, with Joe Gomez again at right back. They’ve had a complete transformation defensively when you compare them to 12 months ago.

Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade) sit bottom of Group C, with one point from their opening two fixtures. They currently top the Serbian SuperLiga, having taken 34 points from a possible 36 in the league. Their only defeat of the campaign came in this competition, although it was a 6-1 loss at the hands of PSG. Richmond Boakye is their main source of goals, having scored five times in the league already this campaign.

Daniel Siebert is the referee for this game. The German official plies his trade in the Bundesliga, where he has taken charge of three games this season. Across those matches, he has averaged four cards per game. As a result, I would advise a maximum of 50+ total booking points for this fixture.

Given the record of these two sides, it’s very difficult to look past a home win. Liverpool haven’t been scintillating in attack yet this season, but this game represents a good opportunity to find the net.

West Brom vs Derby County
Wednesday 24th
 October 2018
SkyBet Championship, The Hawthorns

Live on Sky Sports Football – Kick-Off: 20:00 GMT

West Brom vs Derby County – Two of the Championship’s heavy hitters match up as fifth place Derby travel to third place West Brom.

Showcasing the strength of the Championship, a team newly relegated from the Premier League in West Brom face a side that have already knocked Manchester United out of the Carabao Cup this season. And neither are even in the automatic promotion places.

Not for the want of trying though. After an excellent start to the season, in which they have already smashed in a league-leading 31 goals, West Brom are third. That is just one point away from second-placed Sheffield United. The same Sheffield United that Derby beat 2-1 at Pride Park last time out to sneak into the play-off places.

Prior to the Derby game, The Blades had won four consecutive matches, so it was a huge win for Frank Lampard’s side. Much has been made of the appointment of the former Chelsea and England midfielder, and deservedly so. Lampard has trusted in youth and got Derby playing a more exciting brand of football.

Ultimately, that has to translate into results and even though the division is inevitably tight, fifth place come the end of the season would mean a solid campaign. To maintain that position Derby will have to navigate one of the most challenging tasks this season has to offer, going to The Hawthorns. Barring a loss to Bolton, Darren Moore’s side have won every game at home this term, scoring a massive 20 goals in the process.

At the heart of the attack, Dwight Gayle and Jay Rodriguez have eight and seven goals and are second and third in the league’s top scoring chart respectively. Derby’s goals have been much more shared out, with no one scoring more than three (Mason Mount, Tom Lawrence) for The Rams.

This match will be a true indicator of promotion credentials. West Brom are the bookmaker’s favourites for promotion. Not only that, this game is almost guaranteed to contain goals. Expect the best that the Championship has to offer. West Brom have only kept one clean sheet all season, Derby have only kept three. This will be a cracker.

Referee Robert Jones takes charge of his 15th game of the season here. Jones has already amassed 50 yellow cards and a red this term so isn’t afraid to deliver discipline. His last match, Brentford losing 1-0 to Bristol City, featured that red and seven yellows.

West Brom vs Derby County will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports Football with kick off at 20:00.

Match Betting Preview - PSV vs Tottenham Hotspur. Wednesday 24th October 2018, UEFA Champions League - Group H Qualifier, Philips Stadion, Eindhoven. Live on BT Sport 3 – Kick-Off: 17:55 GMT.

PSV vs Tottenham Hotspur
Wednesday 24th October 2018, Philips Stadion, Eindhoven
UEFA Champions League – Group B Qualifier

BT Sport 3 – 17:55 GMT.

PSV vs Tottenham Hotspur – the visitors are scrambling for Champions League survival in a crunch match at PSV.

After an underwhelming start to the season, Mauricio Pochettino’s side have bounced back to win four consecutive Premier League games. Spurs are now only out of the top four on goal difference, in fifth behind North-London rivals Arsenal after Monday’s convincing 3-1 victory against Leicester.

With so much power in the league, namely Manchester City and Liverpool consolidation of a top four place is surely the goal once again for Spurs. The goals of Harry Kane will be vitally important in achieving that goal. The England captain and World Cup Golden Boot winner has six in all competitions so far, chasing more personal accolades.

It is a collective title that he, and Spurs yearn for, however. It is well documented that ‘Poch’ is yet to win a trophy at White Hart Lane (or Wembley) and whilst keeping such a talented squad each passing year is a missed opportunity. Whilst not amongst the favourites, Spurs have all the required tools to seriously contest in any competition, including the Champions League.

In Group B, Spurs have it all to do though. A late collapse at the San Siro brought heartbreak in a 2-1 defeat before a Lionel Messi inspired Barcelona came away from London with a resounding 4-2 victory, leaving Spurs pointless and bottom after the first two matchdays. Anything but a victory could already all but seal Spurs’ fate, which would be a massive disappointment. Pochettino will have to do it without Dele Alli, who is injured, and Christian Eriksen, so key to how Spurs play, is also a doubt too.

In the way are PSV, who are enjoying a magnificent start to the domestic season. After nine games, dominance has been imposed and Mark van Bommel’s side have nine wins, smashing in 36 goals and conceding just three to boot. No one in the league has scored more than duo Hirving Lozano and Luuk de Jong, who already both have eight goals.

Obviously, retaining the Eredivisie would equate to success, but for such a powerful club in the Netherlands the ambition is to be successful in Europe. Getting out of the group, and an absolute group of death by the way, would represent massive success. Especially after being pointless from the first two matches.

Both these sides simply have to win to have any chance of making it out of the group. Both try to play football on the front foot with tempo, so it should be a wonderful game in the making.

Slavko Vincic is taking charge of his second Champions League game of the season, previously dishing seven yellow cards Manchester United’s 0-0 draw with Valencia in the last match day.

PSV vs Tottenham Hotspur will be televised live in the UK on BT Sport 3 with kick-off at 17:55.

Norwich City vs Aston Villa
Friday 23rd
 October 2018
SkyBet Championship, Carrow Road

Live on Sky Sports Football – Kick-Off: 19:45 GMT

Dean Smith looks to continue his good start to life as Villa manager as they travel to fellow promotion-chasers Norwich.

Boyhood Aston Villa fan Dean Smith took what was billed as a challenging, but dream job following Steve Bruce’s sacking. Making the move across from Brentford, Smith comes with a stellar reputation and an appetite to succeed.

Life couldn’t have started any better, as Tammy Abraham scored the only goal to take all three points against former club Swansea City last time out. That was only the second win from 12 matches for Villa. Smith insisted there is much more work to be done.

Key to that work could be how impactful the talents of Jack Grealish turn out to be. The 23-year-old is yet to find the net this season, so is surely due an explosion. His perennial potential is surely running thin and the time has come to actually deliver. Especially with the club so desperately chasing a return to the top flight.

The aforementioned victory took The Villains up to 13th, leapfrogging Swansea in the process. The Championship is more bizarre than ever currently, with just five points separating Derby County in 5th and 18th position Bolton Wanderers. As it stands, Norwich are level on points with Derby in 6th. A Villa win here would see them overtake Norwich.

That should come as a surprise as The Canaries have been very good over the previous half a dozen matches. After a sluggish start to the campaign, Daniel Farke’s men won four on the bounce before getting a creditable point at Derby County. Losing at home to Stoke before the international break was quickly put to bed with a 2-1 victory at Forest on Saturday.

Villa have scored in every single league game this season, so why should that change? Norwich have conceded in the last three too, only keeping four clean sheets all season. That is still twice as many as Villa, however, their total of two only bettering six clubs.

Make no mistake, Norwich and Farke truly believe they are promotion candidates. Villa believe they are too big a team to be in the Championship, thus craving the Premier League’s aura.

No side has really put together an incredible run of form yet, and this game will stifle one team’s momentum. It could, however, lend a hand in deciding who is up there come crunch time. Or at least who is more likely to. Who knows? In this league, I’d bet on nobody.

Simon Hooper is the man in the middle, taking charge of his eighth game of the season. Those matches have come all across the domestic system, from League Two to the Premier League. Hooper has a fairly lenient record, dishing out 20 yellows and one red in those seven games. Norwich and Villa are 13th and 10th respectively for total number of cards (23 yellows and 21 yellows and one red respectively), so the stats say there shouldn’t be fireworks.

Norwich City vs Aston Villa will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports Football with kick-off at 19:45 GMT.

Shakhtar Donetsk vs Manchester City
Tuesday 23rd October 2018, Metalist Arena, Kharkiv
UEFA Champions League – Group F Qualifier

BT Sport 3 – 20:00 GMT

Shakhtar Dontesk vs Manchester City is this week in Champions League action in Group F.

Neither team has set Group F alight yet, with only one point separating them. The home side have managed two draws against Hoffenheim and Lyon. Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola’s side avenged their disappointing 2-1 opening loss to the French side with victory over Hoffenheim in their previous outing.

The home side will have their work cut out for them as SkyBet price them at 13/2 to cause an upset. They have held their own so far in their European campaign however will face their toughest test on Tuesday. Their domestic form makes for good reading however, and the impact of playing on home soil can only be a bonus.

Brazilian striker Junior Moraes has already bagged twice in the UCL and will be their biggest threat to City’s defence. The 31-year-old is 2/1 to score anytime.

Their defensive record is mightily impressive also. They have conceded only six goals in 12 league games this season. If they do manage a miracle and win the match, for them to win to nil is 18/1.

Manchester City are favourites for this encounter. SkyBet have priced them at 4/11 to double their points tally so far. The Citizens enter the match on the back of a 5-0 thumping of Premier League Burnley. They managed five different goal scorers however among them was Sergio Aguero. The Argentine has been firing on all cylinders, as usual, so far with one goal in European competitions and six in the Premier League. Aguero is priced at 3/1 to break the deadlock.

Guardiola’s side are yet to manage a clean sheet in Group F however have kept a clean sheet in 62% of their domestic outings. 75% of them away from home. Although Shakhtar can pose a threat, it is likely City will stay strong. SkyBet have priced an away clean sheet at 6/4.

The referee for this match will be Benoit Bastien. The official referees in the French Ligue and has averaged 3.83 cards in his six matches in charge.

Shakhtar Donetsk v Manchester City will be televised on BT Sport 3 and kicks off at 20:00.

Prediction: Shakhtar Donetsk 0 – Manchester City 3

– The travelling outfit have far too much quality and need to assert their dominance now before they run out of time.

Match Betting Preview - Manchester United vs Juventus. Tuesday 23rd October 2018, UEFA Champions League - Group H Qualifier, Old Trafford. Live on BT Sport 2 – Kick-Off: 20:00 GMT.

Manchester United vs Juventus
Tuesday 23rd October 2018, Old Trafford
UEFA Champions League – Group H Qualifier

BT Sport 2 – 20:00 GMT

Manchester United vs Juventus: Cristiano Ronaldo returns to Old Trafford with Juventus as they take on Manchester United, with both sides looking for a vital three points in Group H.

The Reds Devils will be buoyed by their positive display at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, which almost saw them come away victorious. Anthony Martial’s brace was cancelled out in the 96th minute by Ross Barkley as the game ended 2-2. Martial has now scored three goals in his last two games. He has bundles of ability and potential, but getting it out of him on a regular basis is Mourinho’s main challenge. Juan Mata also put in another strong display after coming off the bench to start the fightback against Newcastle a fortnight ago. Mourinho sold Mata to United during his stint as Chelsea manage, so it’s always been uncertain whether the Portuguese manager trusts the Spaniard. However, given his recent displays, it is nearly impossible to leave him out of the side.

Despite the positives, it was another game where United failed to keep a clean sheet. They’ve only managed two in eight games, in all competitions, shipping 11 goals in that time. They currently sit in ninth in the league, seven points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur. In Group H, they have four points from two games, after beating Young Boys and drawing with Valencia. To ensure their place in the knockout stages, they need to pick up some points in their doubleheader against the Italian champions.

Juventus have maximum points from their two games and have Ronaldo back from suspension. The Portuguese forward scored on his only visit to Old Trafford since leaving in 2009, where he scored in a 2-1 win for Real Madrid. The Old Lady currently top Serie A, with 25 points from nine games. At the weekend, they dropped their first points of the season after a 1-1 draw with Genoa, with Ronaldo again on the scoresheet. Paulo Dybala grabbed a hattrick last time out against Young Boys, highlighting the strength of depth Juventus hold in attack.

Milorad Mazic is the referee for this game. The Serbian official took charge of PSV’s 2-1 defeat to Inter Milan in the last round, and also refereed last year’s Champions League final. He has an average card total of 4.49 per game, across 120 matches. As a result, I would advise a maximum of 60+ total booking points for this fixtures.

This is a game that United dare not lose if they are to reach the last 16. Juventus will also be cautious about getting beat, given the pair meet again in a fortnight. Therefore, I think this will be a 1-1 draw.

Manchester United vs Juventus will be televised on BT Sport 2 with kick-off at 20:00 GMT.

Prediction: Manchester United 1-1 Juventus

Arsenal vs Leicester City
Monday 22nd
 October 2018
FA Premier League, Emirates Stadium

Live on Sky Sports Premier League – Kick-Off: 20:00 GMT

Arsenal vs Leicester: Arsenal host Leicester on Monday night, looking to extend their winning run to ten games in all competitions.

The Gunners have been in impressive form of late, which has seen them rise to fifth in the Premier League. A favourable run of fixtures has seen Unai Emery’s side begin to find their feet, after a tricky couple of opening matches. As each game progresses, they are beginning to look more of a team with style, and identity. Obviously, until they can prove it consistently, again the very best teams, they are still a work in progress. It may take Emery some years to mould the squad in his own vision, but their upturn in form can only be seen as a positive.

Mesut Ozil has been back in the starting team, and in the goals in recent weeks, as he looks to secure his long-term stay at the Emirates. Similarly, Alexandre Lacazette has been in fine form after being given an extended stay in the side, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang deployed on the left. The Frenchman has five goals and three assists in his last seven appearances; proving that his performances are also having a bearing on the final result.

Leicester will be hoping to bounce back from a 2-1 defeat at home to Everton. That loss was the Foxes’ first in three games, after beating both Huddersfield Town and Newcastle United in the league. They currently sit 10th in the table. But can leapfrog Manchester United and Wolves to move into eighth with a victory. Claude Puel will be slightly concerned that his side have only kept two clean sheets in eight league games this season. That being said, the Foxes’ defensive record is far from one of the worst in the league. With Jamie Vardy still finding the net regularly, a few more shutouts could see them push for the European places. They will be without Wes Morgan for this match after their captain was sent off again Everton.

Chris Kavanagh is the referee for this game. The Englishman has officiated five games in the top flight this season, accumulating an average booking points total of 30. Therefore, I would recommend a total of 50+ points for this fixture.

Arsenal are in fine form, having netted 24 goals in their last eight games (average of three per game). Therefore, I’m going to opt for a home win, given Leicester’s poor clean sheet record this campaign.

Arsenal vs Leicester City will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports Premier League with kick-off at 20:00 GMT.

Prediction: Arsenal 3-1 Leicester City

Suggested Tips – Arsenal vs Leicester City – (BET365)

  • Correct score – Arsenal to win 3-1 – (link no longer available).

Suggested Tips – Arsenal vs Leicester City – (SKYBET)

  • BTTS and Full Time Result – Yes and Arsenal to win – 13/8.

  • First Goalscorer – Alexander Lacazette – 9/2. (Price Boost).

Match Betting Preview - Everton vs Crystal Palace. Sunday 21st October 2018, FA Premier League, Goodison Park Bridge. Live on Sky Sports Main Event – Kick-Off: 16:00 GMT.

Everton vs Crystal Palace
Sunday 21st
 October 2018
FA Premier League, Goodison Park

Live on Sky Sports Premier League – Kick-Off: 16:00 GMT

Everton vs Crystal Palace – Everton will be looking to build on back to back wins with a victory against Crystal Palace at Goodison Park.

The Toffees’ 2-1 win at Leicester City a fortnight ago lifted Marco Silva’s side to 11th in the league, after collecting 12 points from their opening eight games. Gylfi Sigurdsson has three goals in his last two games, which has seen them claim six points. The Icelandic playmaker has looked much more at home this season playing his favoured number ten position. Under Sam Allardyce, he was often shoved out on the left, which failed to get the best out of their former record signing. Now he is creating, and more crucially scoring, important goals. Richarlison has also enjoyed a fine start to life on Merseyside, with four goals for Everton and two for Brazil so far this season. The 21-year-old’s goals are vital with both Cenk Tosun and Oumar Niasse struggling for form upfront.

Palace have been rocked by Wilfried Zaha’s injury during the international break. There were initial fears the Ivory Coast international could miss two months, but Roy Hodgson has confirmed he will face a fitness test before their trip to Goodison Park this weekend. Palace have lost their last 16 games that Zaha hasn’t played, so losing him would be a huge blow. Palace have only collected four points from their last seven games. They face Manchester United, Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal in their next four games, so they desperately need to pick up some results. They currently sit in 14th, four points above the relegation zone.

Anthony Taylor is the referee for this game. The Englishman has officiated eight league games this season. He has collected an average booking points total of 38.8 in that time. As a result, I would advise a maximum total of 50+ points for this fixture.

This game has a lot riding on it for both sides. If Everton could win, they would hit a nice run of fixtures with some momentum. For Palace, their upcoming games makes this a must-not-lose fixture. If Zaha isn’t able to start, I struggle to see them picking up anything form this game. Therefore, I’m going for a home victory.

Everton vs Crystal Palace will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports Premier League with Kick-Off at 16:00 GMT.

Prediction: Everton 2-0 Crystal Palace

Derby County vs Sheffield United

 October 2018
SkyBet Championship, Pride Park

Live on Sky Sports Football – Kick-Off: 17:30 GMT

Derby County vs Sheffield United – the host will host league leaders Sheffield United this Saturday in the SkyBet Championship.

Both clubs have made promising starts to the season, with the hosts in the play-off mix for now. Meanwhile the visitors have flown into top spot with eight wins from their opening 12 matches.

Derby County who are winless in three matches are priced at 8/5 to win this weekend. Frank Lampard has made a decent start in life to management however, with his sides recent victory over Manchester United stealing headlines. They have managed to make Pride Park a very tough place to visit. Apart from their first match against Leeds, the Rams have conceded less than 1.5 goals in their five league games at home.

Goal scoring hasn’t proved too much of a problem either with the fluent attacking force they have. Mason Mount and Tom Lawrence have scored three each whilst David Nugent has two to his name. SkyBet have priced over 2.5 goals at 5/6. All three of Derby’s home victories have come from two goals margins so far. Although this test will be the toughest so far, 4/1 is temping for Derby -1 goal handicap.

Sheffield United are priced at 17/10 to remain top of the league and get three points this Saturday. Chris Wilder continues to impress from the dugout, with United looking to be a force to be reckoned with. Both Billy Sharp and David McGoldrick have been crucial to their success so far. Sharp has scored seven league goals whilst McGoldrick has scored five. Sharp is 9/2 to score first and his partner is 5/1.

Two of their last three league away wins have come when The Blades have scored first. They’re priced at 21/10 to be winning at half time.

The referee for this match will be Oliver Langford. The official has awarded 25.7 booking points in his seven Championshop matches this season.

Derby County vs Sheffield United will be televised on Sky Sports Football HD and will kick off at 17:30.
