Tottenham vs Juventus: Tottenham take on Juventus at Wembley in a crunch clash for a place in the Champions League quarter-finals.

This is expected to be one of the best games of the competition, as Spurs take home advantage into the second leg. After recovering from 2-0 to draw in Turin, Tottenham will feel confident their two away goals can see them through. In the first leg, Mauricio Pochettino’s side were fantastic. After going two goals down early on they recovered to dominate the match and deservedly came away with a draw. In the league, they have been equally impressive. They are unbeaten in 17 games in all competitions and have won five of their last seven matches. Heung-Ming Son caught the eye with his performance at the weekend. The South Korean’s two goals against Huddersfield took his tally to 14 for the season, the most he has managed since joining the club.

Juventus’ late win at Lazio moved them to within one point of leaders Napoli, with a game in hand. The Serie A champions have won 13 of their last 14 games, with that only blip coming against Tottenham. Whilst they did concede two away goals, this Juventus team is more than capable of winning this tie. Under the guidance of Massimiliano Allegri, they have proven themselves to be one of Europe’s finest teams. With players like Paulo Dybala, Gonzalo Higuain and Mario Mandzukic, they therefore pose a threat to any side in this competition.

Szymon Marciniak is the referee for Wednesday night’s crucial match. The Pole has refereed a number of high profile games in the Champions League including Real Madrid’s clash with Spurs earlier in the competitions. He has issued ten yellow cards in three games but is yet to brandish a red card in the Champions League this season. Thus, I wouldn’t expect a huge number of booking points on Wednesday.

This should be one of the tightest game in recent Champions League history. There is very little to separate the two sides and as a result, fine margins will dictate this match. Due to Tottenham’s dominance in the first leg, I think they will marginally secure victory. This will be a big night for the likes of Harry Kane to prove himself on the biggest stage. Spurs have proven they can beat Europe’s finest at Wembley, having already put Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund to the sword.

Liverpoo vs Porto: Liverpool host Porto in the Champions League holding a 5-0 lead from the first leg in Portugal.

After a dominant display in the first leg, Liverpool gave all but sealed their place in the Champions League quarter-finals. With such an unassailable lead, Jurgen Klopp this week admitted he may make changes ahead of their trip to Old Trafford at the weekend. Manchester United’s dramatic 3-2 win at Crystal Palace on Monday night means the Reds go into that fixture in third place. After such an impressive run of form, five wins from six games, Liverpool have the momentum which looks likely to secure them a top-four finish. Since the departure of Phillipe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino has stepped up his game. The Brazilian has enjoyed his best season since joining the club and has five goals in his last seven games.

With a number of key men needing game time, this could be a great moment for Klopp to rotate his side. Adam Lallana will be one player who could certainly do with some minutes as he prepares for the World Cup this summer with England. Despite returning from injury around a month ago, he has yet to return to his best form. Last season he was a mainstay in Klopp’s side, but now he will have to work hard to regain a regular place in the side.

Since losing to Liverpool, Porto have won four in a row. They come into this game with little to lose, meaning they should play without fear. Whilst this tie appears to be over, Porto’s approach to this game will be interesting. I predicted Liverpool to go through this tie, however, I thought it would be much closer. This game will illustrate whether Porto just had an ‘off night’, or whether the Reds are classes above them. After all, this is a side who sit top of their division and have yet to lose in the league this campaign.

Felix Zwayer has been appointed as the referee for this game. Having officiated 11 Bundesliga games this season, he has averaged 3.82 cards this season. With 41 yellow cards, Zwayer has issued the eighth highest, which highlights his well-tempered approach to refereeing.

I think Liverpool will make changes for this game but I still expect them to win. Even if they rotate their squad, they have enough attacking talent to win the game. I don’t think it will be as big a whitewash as the first leg, with my bet being Liverpool to win by exactly two goals.

Paris St Germain vs Real Madrid: PSG host Real Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League knockout tie, looking to overturn a 3-1 deficit.

PSG will be without Neymar for this tie, with the Brazilian forward likely to miss the next two months with a broken metatarsal. Their world-record signing now faces a race against time to prove his fitness before this summer’s World Cup. Despite playing well in Madrid, PSG are up against it as they aim to progress to the next round. In the first leg, they proved their capabilities going forward; creating multiple chances against Real’s rear guard. Ultimately, ten minutes of poor concentration cost them, which has left them needing two goals. The away goal, scored by Adrien Rabiot, could still be crucial. A 2-0 victory is far from beyond PSG, the real question is whether they can prevent Real from scoring.

Madrid know that this tie is in their own hands. Holding a 3-1 lead, there is huge expectation for them to go through. Since the first leg, they have won four games and lost just once. A return of 15 goals and six only conceded shows Madrid have returned to form. Cristiano Ronaldo has ten goals in his last five games, showing the Portuguese forward is also back to his best. Zinedine Zidane’s main dilemma falls within his team selection. Gareth Bale grabbed another goal at the weekend, which poses the Frenchman his greatest problem. He has recently opted to play Isco but could reintroduce the Welshman for this key fixture.

The pressure is certainly on the hosts and they’re without their main man. However, Angel Di Maria will be expected to join Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappe in attack, which underlines the Parisian’s strength in depth. They have to go for the game; which should create a classic spectacle at the Parc des Princes.

Felix Brych is the referee in the French capital on Tuesday. The German plies his trade in the Bundesliga and has an average card total of 3.67. He has issued 41 yellow cards in 25 games, whilst showing just one red card this season. In comparison with other officials, he is mid-table with these statistics. Thus, booking points may not be too high in this game.

This game is very tough to call. An early goal for PSG would certainly make things interesting and pile the pressure on Madrid. I think that Madrid’s big players will see them through this tie, therefore I’m opting for a score draw.

Jose Mourinho says that the “attitude must be special” for Manchester United to beat Crystal Palace in a match that means plenty to both ends of the league.

He was speaking in the pre-match press conference, telling his that victory over a ‘big team’ like Chelsea (they came from behind to brilliantly win 2-1 on Sunday) meant nothing without following it up with victory over Palace.

The race for the top four is at boiling point. Only 11 matches remain and just six points separates second (United) from fifth (Chelsea). United currently have a two and four-point advantage over Liverpool and Spurs respectively, but it could change so quickly.

Manchester City are steamrollering their way to the title, but second place seemed a formality for Mourinho’s team. That is no longer the case, and amongst the pressure a battle for the highest remaining positions ensues.

Liverpool and Spurs have both hit form at this crucial stage of the season with United in their crosshairs. It’s vital the 13-time Premier League Champions remained focused as anything less than second would be seen as failure.

The last time I previewed Palace, they were one point outside the relegation zone on an eight-match unbeaten run. Now after a poor run, that optimism has drained, and The Eagles are outside the bottom three on goal difference.

Roy Hodgson’s side are without a win in five, devastatingly conceding late to lose 1-0 to Spurs last time out. Despite having their wings clipped, The Eagles need to find their spark again or face the prospect of relegation.

The battle for the drop is an intense as ever. With West Brom cut adrift, 18th place Swansea are just six points away from top-half Watford. The Swans are revitalised under Carlos Carvalhal. Huddersfield have remerged with victories. Brighton have won two from their last three. Newcastle are unbeaten in four, with a victory over Manchester United to boot. It is too hard to call.

Either way, Palace need to somehow find an upturn in results themselves or face plunging deeper into the mire.

This will be a massive test to do so. United have the best defence in the league, conceding just 20 goals and keeping 15 clean sheets in 28 games. Stark contrast to Palace, only Stoke have conceded in more games (24) than The Eagles’ 23.

This is a massive worry. Despite the grumblings about Mourinho’s defensiveness, only Liverpool and City have found the net more than his team this year too.  In fact, United have scored two or more goals in 16 of their fixtures. It doesn’t bode well for Roy Hodgson and his men.

Neil Swarbrick will be the man in the middle for this one. Of the 19 referees to officiate a Premier League game this season, he has the fourth most lenient disciplinary record. Swarbrick has not yet dished out a red card, and on average gives only 2.5 yellow per match. This means his average booking points per fixture is just 25.0.

This is ideal for teams like Palace and United. Who, although only have the one red between them (United) rack up the yellow cards. 49 of them each in fact.

Prediction Crystal Palace 0-2 Manchester United

It is hard to look beyond Manchester United imposing their dominance and keeping a customary clean sheet at struggling Crystal Palace. Which will inevitably please Mourinho.

Fresh from lifting the Carabao Cup, City will be want to ensure they secure the Premier League title. Having led the way for so long, it’s important City don’t lose focus as they enter the final push. Pep Guardiola’s men have been fully deserving of the league title this year, but beating the current champions may be necessary to seal their success. City currently sit at the top of the division, 13 points clear of Manchester United. They do have a game in hand, which they play against Arsenal this Thursday at the Emirates.

Chelsea will be reeling after losing 2-1 at Old Trafford. Antonio Conte’s side were in pole position after taking the lead, but goals from Romelu Lukaku and Jesse Lingard saw United turn things around. That results left the champions in fifth, two points behind Tottenham and four behind Liverpool. With the same number of games played, Chelsea can’t afford to lose this match. With another round with Barcelona to come in the Champions League, securing a top-four finish is vital for their season. Willian has been in good form recently, having scored first in both his last two games. He and Eden Hazard have matched the shortfall left by the club’s toothless attackers. Alvaro Morata made his first start in six weeks and looked like a striker short of fitness and confidence.

City have won two of their last five games against Chelsea. The Blues have won the other three, including the last meeting at the Etihad. City last beat Chelsea at home in 2015 as they went on to win the league that season. Similarly, Chelsea were the champions as they are now.

Michael Oliver has been selected to referee this match. He has an average booking points total of 38.7, the fourth highest in the league. He has reffereed the most games in the division this season, averaging 3.4 yellow cards and 0.2 red cards per game.

This is a huge game. Chelsea could make a huge statement with a victory here, in a game they dare not lose. For City, another win would all but seal their fourth league title. Therefore, I’m going for a narrow home win. I think BTTS and City to win is a good bet, with BTTS and over 2.5 goals a safer option.

Brighton vs Arsenal – Arsenal will hope to bounce back from their Wembley defeat with a victory against relegation-threatened Brighton.

After back to back defeats to Manchester City, Arsenal will be hoping to end a wretched week with three points. Defeat at Wembley, followed by the Emirates saw the Gunners surrender their chance for silverware and to get back into the race for the top four. With the Europa League now their only hope of a trophy, it could be their best way to ensure Champions League football. With Arsenal ten points behind fourth-placed Spurs, their push for the top four seems over. However, like Manchester United did last year, they could still achieve Champions League football by winning the Europa League. They have been pitted against fellow European giants AC Milan, which means whoever comes out on top has a good chance of winning the competition.

Arsenal have lost their last three away league matches. Defeat to Bournemouth and Swansea gives Brighton cause for optimism ahead of this fixture. The Gunners are known for struggling against lower opposition. They haven’t won away in the league this year, with their last victory coming on the 28th December last year.

Brighton currently occupy 12th spot, four points above the relegation zone. No defeats in six has moved the Seagulls out of immediate danger, whilst they have won their last three home games in the process. Chris Hughton’s men are far from safe, however, these victories have been vital to renew belief around the Amex Stadium.

Glenn Murray has been in good form, netting six goals in five games. A brace for the former Bournemouth striker at the weekend took his tally to 12 for the season. New signing Jurgen Locadia opened his Premier League account for the club against Swansea, securing a good day all round for Brighton.

Arsenal have won the club’s last five meetings, including the reverse fixture this season. They have won at the Amex on their last two trips and haven’t been beaten by Brighton since 1982.

Kevin Friend will take charge of Sunday lunch-time’s game. Friend has the lowest average booking point total when compared to referee’s who have officiated 15 Premier League games this season(24). This includes 36 yellow cards and no red cards across 15 league games, therefore booking points may be worth avoiding.

I definitely think Brighton can take something from this game. Arsenal’s recent form on the road is poor, especially against teams who’re battling to stay up. Thus, Brighton are in good form and I think that could see them grab a draw on Sunday.

Liverpool vs Newcastle: Liverpool will be looking to move up to second in the table when they face Newcastle at Anfield

The Reds come into this match in third spot, two points behind Manchester United. Jurgen Klopp’s side have won four of their last five games, scoring 14 and conceding just three. Mohamad Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane were in the goals again at the weekend, as they brushed past West Ham.

The 4-1 victory showcased the Reds’ potent attack, whilst POTY contender Salah grabbed another goal. Whilst most, including myself, expect Kevin De Bruyne to collect the award at the end of the season, Salah has been extraordinary. Any other campaign, he would’ve walked the nomination. There is a serious case to be asked as to whether he has had the greatest ever debut campaign in Premier League history. To be matching the goals scored by Serio Aguero and Harry Kane, both strikers, is phenomenal.

Newcastle sit in 15th place, two points clear of the relegation zone. Rafa Benitez’s side threw away a two-goal lead last time out, as they drew with Bournemouth. After dominating the game for 70 minutes, and missing multiple chances, it was a cruel blow for the Toon Army as Dan Gosling’s 90th-minute equaliser grabbed the Cherries a point. With no defeats in four, things seem to be looking up for Newcastle. Their historic win over Manchester United could be the catalyst to see them out of danger. Dwight Gayle’s brace on the South Coast could be big for his confidence whilst Islam Slimani is unfit. With big games against Southampton and Huddersfield later this month, maintaining their unbeaten run could be crucial.

Liverpool have won just one of their last five meetings with Newcastle. Their last victory came at Anfield back in 2015, whilst Newcastle’s last win at Anfield came back in 1995. They did draw on their last trip to Merseyside though, a 2-2 draw in April 2016.

Graham Scott has been appointed as the referee for this game. The Englishman has the second lowest average booking points total this season. He has averaged a score of 21.8, showing just 28 yellow cards and 2 red cards across 14 games.

If Liverpool want to seriously challenge for the league next season, they have to win games like this. Whilst they’re in good form at the moment, these are the fixtures where they have slipped up in the past. Yet, I still expect them to win on Saturday and thus will move above United in the table.

Burnley vs Everton: Two out of form sides clash at Turf Moor as both Burnley and Everton look to move further adrift of the relegation zone.

Burnley were denied three points last time out as they conceded a stoppage-time equaliser in their draw with Southampton. The goal was surrounded by controversy as the referee blocked off Ashley Westwood, which lead to Manolo Gabbiadini’s leveller. As a result of that draw, Burnley are without a win in 12 games. They haven’t recorded a victory since the turn of the year. Whilst they still sit in seventh place, ten points above the drop zone, it is imperative that they get out of their recent slump and return to winning ways. They have drawn three of their last four matches 1-1 yet have still struggled for those elusive three points.

Everton, like Burnley, are out of form. Their initial resurgence under Sam Allardyce has dwindled, with just two wins in 11. On the road, they’ve been particularly poor. Their last away win came back in December against Newcastle. The Toffees sit three points and two places below their hosts, seven points clear of the bottom three. Whilst there are no immediate concerns about relegation, Allardyce knows he needs some results to justify his place at the club. With Marco Silva now available, I expect the pressure to begin to build on the former England manager. January signings have yet to pay off, thus increasing speculation around ‘big’ Sam’s future. Cenk Tosun is still awaiting his first goal for the club, with Allardyce using the big money signing sparingly in recent weeks.

Burnley recorded a famous win when these two sides met earlier this season. Jeff Hendrick sealed a deserved victory for the Clarets against an Everton side managed by Ronald Koeman. Previous to that win, Sean Dyche’s side had won just one of their last five against the Toffees. Everton’s last away win at Turf Moor came in 2014 under Roberto Martinez.

Chris Kavanagh is the referee for Saturday lunch-time’s game. The Englishman has an average booking points total of 32. He has brandished 3.2 yellow cards across ten premier league and is yet to issue a red card. He is one of the last experienced referees in the top flight, having only officiated ten Premier League games this season.

As a result of the two sides’ recent form, I think this will be a draw. Whilst both teams need a win, neither will want to lose this game.

Arsenal vs Manchester City: Arsenal face Manchester City at the Emirates, looking to avenge their Carabao Cup defeat last weekend.

Defeat at Wembley cast further doubt over Arsene Wenger’s future. Arsenal were well beaten in the final and failed to test City at any point. The lack of fight and character shown by the gunners was symptomatic of their recent failures. The Europa League is now Wenger’s only hope of silverware and therefore this seems their only viable route into the Champions League. Therefore, if I was him, I’d be throwing all my eggs in that basket. Whilst their next round tie against AC Milan is far from straightforward, it is a winnable tie. The top four is gone for them and without any silverware or European football, Wenger could find himself out of a job this summer.

Arsenal’s display at Wembley was gutless. Defensively, they were awful; they lacked organisation, resilience and concentration. Pierre Emerick Aubameyang was ineffective, although he did play for large portions of the game without any service. Thus, if Arsenal are to get the best out of their new signing, they’ve got to play to his strengths. In theory, Aubameyang’s pace should have been a great outlet, especially on a big pitch like Wembley. Unfortunately, Arsenal never tried to use that to their advantage. They didn’t play the ball in behind the City rearguard, which would have allowed him to run at Vincent Kompany and Nicolas Otamendi.

Without the services of Raheem Sterling, Manchester City blew away their counterparts on Sunday. The win ensured Pep Guardiola’s first trophy as City manager, with reports emerging he is set to sign a new contract at the club. This could be the start of a dynasty for Pep. With the money and power that City hold, they could dominate English football for some time. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves though, nobody has retained the Premier League since Manchester United in 2009. As a result, that is Guardiola’s biggest challenge next season, as well as targeting a first Champions League trophy for the club if they don’t win it this time around.

Andre Marriner has been appointed as the man in the middle for Thursday’s match. The Englishman has an average booking points total of 28.9. This is one of the lowest in the league, consequently booking points could be at a premium for this clash.

It will be interesting to see how Arsenal react in the game, after being so comprehensively beaten at the weekend. City will have to rotate their squad ahead of a clash with Chelsea at the weekend, yet I still think they’ll record another victory.
